Such a cute little café in San Mateo! Along with the traditional coffee options, they have fun drinks with different flavors to try. Give them a try--and check out the photos!

Love it!!

This place is incredible!!! I love how convenient it is lots of parking or you can pick up a coffee while you wait for your car to get washed next-door The staff was very kind and welcoming. Love the cowboy decor inside very cute. Enjoyed one of their delicious desserts from Sugarcinns I'm hooked along with one of their coffees. It was perfect. Definitely coming back to try their Matcha. Over all 5 stars

A new, spacious coffee shop on El Camino with a parking lot. We love that. I ordered the monkey matcha and got one of their pastries, looks like donut and its light and fluffy. Staff was so nice and even offered my picky dog a treat. Drinks did take some time but I wasn't in a rush. My drink was not too sweet and I feel like I got good value for the price. They have some seasonal drinks for the summer, so fun. The space is so spacious and clean, sofas in the waiting area but there are tables in the nook area.

This place has a southern charm to it that really connects to the name of the shop and you can feel that hospitality when you walk in. The baristas were kind and patient. As a new customer this was definitely something I appreciated. My wife and I ordered the toasted saddle first while we did some work for a couple of hours. The toasted saddle was alright. I think the marshmallow cold foam was delicious but the coffee had a much more acidic taste, and I'm not a fan. For cold brew, most of the acidic taste usually mellows out so it was a bit odd that it didn't when we tried it. The team allowed us to make a swap so we switched one of them for the New Years Bliss. The matcha was just alright. It had a bland taste to it, even with the strawberry cold foam. I think it's possible that those just aren't our drink so we will have to give it another try. Overall great customer service but the coffee left more to be desired.

I stopped by Caffeinated Cowboy and tried the Monkey Matcha. The cafe is really cute, and there's a parking lot right next to it, which makes it very convenient. They also have plenty of seating, a restroom for customers, and they're open until 4 PM, which is great if you're looking for a place to hang out or get some work done. The Monkey Matcha wasn't my favorite. It was much sweeter than I expected and didn't really taste like matcha. If you like a stronger, more traditional matcha flavor, this one may not be for you. That said, I'd definitely come back to try their coffee. Their summer menu looked delicious, and there were several drinks that caught my eye. Overall, it's a cozy spot with a great atmosphere, and I'm looking forward to giving their coffee a try next time.

The first time I tried coming here, I stopped by around 3 PM and they had already run out of ice, so I came back two weeks later to finally try their drinks since the menu sounded interesting. The drinks weren't bad, but I feel like they weren't anything especially unique or memorable. They use Torani syrups, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does make the drinks taste similar to other places that use the same syrups. The flavors also leaned a little more toward an artificial syrup taste rather than something that felt more homemade or distinctive. I ordered the banana coffee, but they had run out of the banana whip and substituted it with banana cold foam instead. It was still fine, but unfortunately it didn't have any wow factor. Overall, the drinks are decent, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back or make a special trip for them.

Some tables to the right and bar seats to the left large counter. Ordered the bee happy lavender honey matcha. Punch card 10 drinks for a free one. Bee happy - not bad matcha not as strong as other matcha cafes in the city but the taste of lavender was strong without too much sweetness. Matcha flavor is present without much bitterness but doesn't especially stand out either. 7.5/10 not bad

Cute new coffee shop near hillsdale mall in San Mateo. Parking lot has a decent number of spots thankfully, but I could see it being hard to find it spot during peak times. The shop is actually pretty big and open, and it's well maintained inside. Staff are very friendly and even came and handed us our drinks/food which we didn't expect! I got the french toast latte and my partner got the bee happy matcha latte. We both really enjoyed them :) the cups they came in were pretty big too.

This is such a cute little coffee shop next to jacks car wash. I wish I had known so I could've dropped my car off lol. I would say the coffee and matcha is on the sweeter side, so if you don't like that this may not be the place for you. We got three drinks -French toast latte -monkey matcha - summer menu blueberry matcha The monkey matcha had a yummy banana flavor and vanilla cold foam. The flavor was not intense and overpowering instead very well paired with the vanilla cold foam. It's on the larger size I think it's 12-16 ounces, and it's one size. The French toast latte was my brother's choice and he loved it. He said the cinnamon was not overwhelming and he drank it so fast... The blueberry matcha was perfect for the summer and had Coconut flakes on top! Cute couches, very comfortable and clean space. The servers were kind. The only thing that's a bit of a pain was the fact that the lot is packed and there's no street parking so you might want to mentally prepare for either walking from a down the street spot or waiting awhile for parking

This coffee shop is so cute. Everyone who works there is very friendly and I enjoy their drinks. I mean who doesn't love a cold foam in whatever flavor you want. And the cinns cupcakes are very tasty there as well. I don't understand the hateful people with their stupid reviews. It's a coffee shop they make coffee, yes you can make it at home but you're not going to. What do the other places do count the beans in each drink? Y'all sound miserable. Keep up the good work and tasty coffee!

A great addition to have next to the car wash! Friendly service, fun theming and good coffee! I ordered the iced Howdy Honey latte which has cinnamon and honey. A very tasty drink with good quality espresso. I like the seating area here both inside and outside, although the outside area hasn't changed. The interior has been painted a really pleasant, light pink, and the new decor is an added touch. They still have the weird couches the old place had, but it's a nice place to sit while you wait for your car to be cleaned. Overall, great new place!

I found this place on tiktok from their post about their soft opening. I wanted to try this place and it didn't disappoint at all! We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of parking out front. It is a pretty spacious place and I love how it has natural light that makes the place stand out! As soon as we came in we were greeted with a friendly place. With it being our first time here we asked the barista what they would recommend. We tried the Toasted Saddle. The toasted marshmallow cold foam was to absolutely die for! I love how the cold foam gave the cold brew just enough balance between bitter and sweet. I can't wait to come back and try their matcha and use my punch card!

I work nearby and was so touched when the owner personally dropped off loyalty cards at our office, such a sweet gesture! On my first visit, the barista recommended the New Year's Bliss Vanilla Matcha with Strawberry Cold Foam, and it is incredible. If you're like me and love a sweeter matcha, this is the drink for you. The 'Western Chic' interior is adorable, and I'm so excited they offer Reviver Red Bulls, the Peninsula definitely needed a spot like this! I'll be back soon to work my way through the rest of the menu.

I got an iced HK style coffee + milk tea which I've never had before but was so delicious. I'd definitely come back to try the other fruity drinks too! we ordered the tom yum noodles, preserved vegetables & pork noodle soup, salt & pepper fries, and the HK style french toast with peanut butter. the french toast was our favorite- it was fluffy and chewy and was just like the HK classic. the noodle dishes were both so hearty and flavorful too, and the portions were a good size. it did take a bit long for everything to come out, but it did seem like there was only one person working and she was very kind and accommodating when we had questions about our order. we didn't mind at all, especially sitting outside and enjoying the view! overall, I'll for sure be back for the drinks and to try some other HK style street food.

We ordered two breakfasts, and I have absolutely no complaints about the food. Everything was fresh and tasty, with fresh vegetables and berries, and overall the breakfast itself was very enjoyable. The coffee, however, was a completely different story. It was honestly terrible. Both the cup and the coffee itself had a strong plastic smell and taste, which made it almost impossible to drink. I took one sip and couldn't finish it. Unfortunately, the coffee really ruined the overall breakfast experience for me. If you're going to serve coffee to customers, I really think the quality needs to be improved significantly, whether that means using better equipment, better cups, or having someone who actually knows how to prepare good coffee. Another downside was the lack of personal interaction. Almost everything is handled through an AI/self-service terminal, with very little communication with the staff. For a new cafe, I personally think that takes away a lot from the experience. Hospitality and human interaction still matter, especially in a place where people come to relax and enjoy breakfast. The food was good, but considering the coffee quality and the overall service experience, would I come back? Unfortunately, no.

The patio is particularly appealing, with sunlight, greenery, and the sort of unhurried ambiance that makes you suddenly believe you have nowhere else to be. The coffee is superb. Greek coffee is bold and concentrated, while the specialty drinks display an almost suspiciously effective command of sweetness, spice, and texture. The womelette, an omelet cooked in a waffle iron, is wonderfully absurd and genuinely delicious, which is a rare combination in breakfast cuisine. Service is warm and personal, and the staff contributes substantially to the café's neighborhood character. Prices are not bargain-basement, but they feel entirely defensible given the quality and portions. Penelope's isn't merely a coffee shop. It is a small, caffeinated argument for slowing down.

The room is quietly elegant, its Middle Eastern influences expressed through considered décor rather than theatrical excess. There is an appealing sense of decorum here; a place designed to encourage lingering rather than turnover. The coffee is similarly assured. Turkish coffee possesses the requisite depth and bitterness, while the rose-cardamom-honey latte introduces floral sweetness and spice with admirable restraint. The pastries and sweets--particularly the baklava and kunafeh--provide a luxurious counterpoint without descending entirely into confectionery excess. At roughly $10-$20 per person, Sama occupies a sensible price point for an experience that feels considerably more considered than the average neighborhood coffee shop. Sama is, ultimately, a café with a point of view and that is increasingly rare. The service was designed to provide you with a feeling that you're like a beloved family member. Plus I wish it had come with some sort of salsa. There was a hot sauce bottle, bulk size, that was almost empty so I said meh. A homemade salsa would be a nice touch. My daughter got a vegetarian omlette which was basically a mushroom omlette. That seemed a good size but basic mushrooms and they had a side of spinach with some sort of dressing which I was sure was just mayo. There were a sad four tots on the side. She didn't like her matcha latte and my Vietnamese coffee lacked kick. They are well situated to serve the area and clearly have regular business. Guava Pastelito - The site promised a flaky pastry filled with sweet guava paste, offering a nice balance of fruity and buttery flavors. Here the guava flavor was a little subdued, so I think a more concentrated guava paste could be helpful. I also didn't get the buttery notes that are mentioned in the bakery's description. Chocolate Croissant - Described as a flaky, buttery pastry filled with rich, smooth chocolate. This item has two chocolate batons which ran through the center. While I missed the flaky, buttery crust and the delicate, airy layers that come from properly laminated dough, I was honestly okay with this. The chocolate is the center of attention. It felt more like a rich chocolate bar sandwich and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Warmed slightly it could have easily transformed into something even more indulgent. House Drip Coffee (sm) - Unfortunately, this was more watery flavored than coffee flavored. I appreciate that Olympus is a locally sourced brand, so kudos for supporting local. However, the Olympus site describes its house blend as having notes of cocoa, brown sugar, and toasted walnut, with a full-bodied and satisfying finish. I didn't get much of that. A stronger brew was needed so perhaps a little more coffee grounds in the mix would go a long way. A few additional thoughts: everything is made and baked in-house, with the exception of the doughnuts. Those are made by the same owner just at a different location. I like that there's an emphasis on making things fresh, keeping production, and products close to home. I will go deeper into their menu next time but as for this visit: Do I think there's going to be a line of people waiting outside before they open? No. Will I consider stopping here when another bakery I wanted to visit has a line? You bet. Did I enjoy my selections? Hell yeah! And will I go back? Absolutely.
