Their blended Green Tea Luce is reason enough for five stars!! I come here to park and run on the river and stop by before I go home about once a week. It's a perfect way to reward and motivate myself to wake up at 4:30. The last couple times I've been here John has helped me and I've never had a finer blended ice drink, I am impressed! The lattes we ordered were pretty good and we agreed that the espresso is pretty yummy, the barista working was friendly, and it was clear that the coffee shop is a neighborhood friendly. Overall a decent experience with good, smooth espresso. The decor is a little plain but some people don't mind that. read more

First time checking out this cafe. They have a nice atmosphere and good choice in background music. A great place to study and enjoy your coffee or sit down and catch up with a friend. The coffee itself I would rate a 5 only reason I rated a 4 was because people were running out of places to sit. After my first visit I have to say it is now in my top 5 coffee joints in Tucson. This is a very good coffee shop. Their coffee is a blend of different beans, and if you like blended coffee they really do it well.

Simply the most flavorful, smooth, and refined macchiato this side of Portland. Both locations in town prove to be espresso awesomeness. And since they roast their own at the University location they have the street cred that few can claim, owning the bean from bag to cup. read more

Caffe Luce is the perfect place to study because of the soothing music and quiet feel. The tables fill up quickly, but if you are lucky enough to find one, cherish it. The coffee is roasted in house and I personally find the americanos to be delicious. I wake up a half an hour early just to stop in a grab a quick cup before running to class, well worth the loss of sleep. read more

I've been coming to Caffe Luce about twice a week for the past couple of months. I'm always in search of a place where I can get some work or studying done, and since this is located next to my favorite Trader Joe's, I can hit two birds with one stone. The atmosphere is mellow - most everyone here is working/studying as well, so other than some low-key coffee house type music in the background, there isn't a lot of noise or chit chat to distract me from my work. The staff are friendly, and the coffee drinks (soy latte's are my standby) are delicious. At the risk of sounding like a coffee snob, I appreciate that they serve their coffee in ceramic mugs (unlike that popular "S" chain around the corner) and my drinks usually comes with some sort of pattern in the foam - the baristas clearly take pride in their work. I don't typically eat while I'm there, but on my most recent visit I tried one of the raspberry coconut scones, and it was excellent - the perfect combination of moist and crumbly, and sans the sickly-sweet icing that most places drizzle on top of their scones (which is a sacrilege, in my opinion). They have some interesting local artwork on display, and the welded iron bar top with supports made of glass pillars filled with coffee beans is quite attractive. This isn't the type of place that I would meet friends for some bantering - I don't think the atmosphere lends itself well to that. But if you're looking for a mellow coffee shop where you can quietly get some work done, this is the place. read more

Caffe Luce (loo-chey) is definitely not just another coffee shop; who doesn't like another alternative to River coffee shops and some java post-farmers market and pre-Trader Joe's? I do! Caffe Luce has always been almost too cool for me to hang out there, but the staff is friendly and takes their coffee roasting seriously. You are not going to get a poor drink. This location is great. You can get a pastry, flavored teas, and espresso drinks. read more

I love coming to Caffe Luce! The coffee is excellent (my go-to is the iced latte. The iced mocha is great too!) and better than the other local coffee shops around town, in my opinion. It tastes smooth and not burned. The staff is wonderful and welcoming, especially once you become a regular face there. It's an excellent study spot with access to outlets from all the tables. Trader Joe's and Costa Vida are in the same complex if you want to grab a meal. You could spend all day at Caffe Luce and have access to everything you need: coffee, food, snacks, etc. read more

Caffe Luce has changed my life- Dramatically. My mornings used to be waking up at 7:50 to get dressed, pack my bag and run the five minutes to my eight o'clock Arabic class. It was a miserable process that involved sticky sleep in my eyes and hair in my face while trying to comprehend the gibberish that my Arabic instructor was speaking. It was a sad attempt at trying to get a decent grade in a difficult class, as well as not succumbing to the lulls of sleep. Caffe Luce however, has changed all that like an angel from heaven. This angel descended upon me one fair fall morning. I had managed to wake up a tad bit earlier than usual; the reason being a full pack of cigarettes in my back pocket. And there I was, leisurely walking to my Arabic class, blowing smoke at the few people passing by, when over the decaying, cough-inducing smell of burning tobacco I caught the scent of one of my other favorite things: brewing coffee. At that moment I opened my sleepy eyes to see the bright sunny sign for Caffe Luce. Ever since that moment, early mornings are in the bag. I wake up even earlier in order to get to the café as soon as it opens and lounge in the comfortable chairs while sipping a piping hot cup of the best fresh-brewed coffee in Tucson and enjoying the rhythm of the grungy indie music playing over the speakers. I now have an "A" in Arabic class, a job, a boyfriend, and exercise daily. I even have friends and they all attest to my bright and sunny attitude towards the entire world, and it's all to Caffe Luce. Without Caffe Luce, I would still be that miserable student in sweatpants, dragging my feet to class and hating my life. I wouldn't have accomplished all the things that I've conquered in my freshman year of college if it weren't for the swift kick in the crack that the Caffe Luce coffee gives me. read more
