This review is just based on having drinks. We arrived rather late, right before they closed so we only had time for a drink. I had the tiramisu martini and it was really good. Where to start... We have been eating our way through Italy for the last week, but tonight it came to a screeching halt. For complete effect, please see photo for menu to refer throughout. We booked our New Year's Eve dinner here on recommendation of our host in Venice and had high hopes. It was €200 a head including drinks (which might have been the only positive of the night; our glass never emptied before the next pour). The seating was at 20:00, however the aperitif didn't arrive until 20:50. The fruit flies were circling (literally). The aperitif was a mixture of seafood bites. (The highlight being the Prosecco they served again bottomless). The only notable aspect would be the attempt at a cod creme macaron. It lacked in the creamyness of a macaron however it was headed in the right direction. The salmon burger was dry and inedible. The appetizer, yet another 50 minute later, was okay, nothing special. The first one was a panko over easy fried egg on top of mushrooms (labeled as chanterelles, didn't seem like chanterelles) with truffle oil and a potato purée. The second was a traditional Italian medium cooked salami meat with lentils on top. Both middle of the road. The first course of pasta was a disaster. The pasta was an extremely undercooked, far too thick for tortellini which as a result was overly crunchy. The second pasta was a pumpkin gnocchi which was again okay, but nothing special. The main that came out was duck with the most sour tasting over cooked teriyaki apple slice on top. The meal looked completely unappetizing and tasted about the same too. The time is now 23:20 on New Year's Eve. With no end in sight, we left. And had just enough time to grab our bottle of Prosecco and find a nice seat on a dock to watch the fireworks and rescue our night. All in all we won't be back here and I wouldn't suggest to anyone they spend €200 a head on a meal here. read more

Wonderful location and distinctive interior, and the food the was great. The service was excellent, the suggested wines were very good, and although not necessarily part of the restaurant, the locale, along with the walk to and from, were wonderful. read more

unreal. This was the most modern restaurant we dined at in Venezia. It was a 5 star experience for food and service. The restaurant is super enchanting with dim gas lit chandeliers and candles everywhere. Our favorites were the meat/cheese board, potatoes mousse with Tuscan sausage, and carbonara. There was nothing that we would change about any dish. The were plated beautifully and tasted even better than they looked( if that's even possible) would highly recommend to anyone. After dinner we caught a late night gondola right that pulled up right to the restaurant. Amaze! read more

Came here for drinks with some friends and loved the upscale vibe and cocktails. There are two sections to the place, a lounge area with a bar, and the restaurant area with tables (there is also a small seating area outside). We arrived around 10:15 for drinks on a Saturday, and it wasn't full at all. We sat in the lounge area, which has low leather couches and stools and four or so glass tables. Between my party of four we tried a Caipirinha, Moscow mule, passion Margarita and an aviator. All of them were delicious, my personal favorite being the Caipirinha. This is the place to come for great cocktails in a swanky locale. read more

Beautiful restaurant, unfortunately, we cannot say the same thing about the food. We came about finding this restaurant while on our walk in Venice and noticed that it has a Michelin Star recommendation. We had our hotel concierge made dinner reservation for us and was so excited to get the opportunity to try a new restaurant in Venice. It started out good, but when we got our entrees, my side dish (vegetable) was burnt. I told our waiter but he told me to push it aside and if I wish he can bring another. I told him that by the time it come my entree will be cold and will no longer be interested eating. My point was that food shouldn't have come out of the kitchen to served to paying customer at a Michelin Star rating. The chef didn't come out of the kitchen to apologize and no adjustment on our bill. I requested for the manager's name, but was told that they couldn't give me his name. They seem to be very intimated with the restaurant manager. In summary, this restaurant doesn't deserve a Michelin Star recommendation. The food was not the standard of a Michelin Star! read more

I had been agonising over the decision about where to go for the last night of our honeymoon and went back and forth to Caffe Centrale's web site and various review sites. Other reviews were so mixed, I was so confused but wanted something a little more than pizza and pasta so went with my gut (ha) and booked us in. I emailed ahead to inform them of our occasion and I'm glad I did, they had us purchased on the alfresco dining spot, absolutely the best seat in the house. I did a bit of emailing ahead to restaurants to inform them we were on our honeymoon, as painful as that would be for the restaurants it's our honeymoon!! Some responded with a lovely welcome, a couple of glasses of champage or, in the case of a restaurant in Vegas a candle with 'happy anniversary' hmmm. This was one of the nicest honeymoon treats, what a spot! As we watched the tourists float past on the hundreds of gondola's, I felt famous, people were waving, snapping our photo and more than once I heard 'wow what's that, I want to go there'. I could see the jealousy in all those eyes and I felt pretty amazingly special. The waiters were appropriately attentive, I've heard others say they felt a lack of service but for us, it was perfect. Too often we have wanted drawn out long dinners only to have the waiters hover over our plate and snatch it away as we have our last mouthful on the fork. The menu is on an ipad and could be difficult to navigate if you are searching for entrée, main, dessert but we were up for a bit of this and a bit of that so it suited us fine. Plenty of foams and gels in this dinner, but all were tasty and there wasn't too much on each plate. Our egg and asparagus flat bread with paprika was a nice start but the highlights were the octopus terrine with mash and the cappuccino potato foam with shrimp. Dessert was a deconstructed tiramisu pudding, tasty but not as good as some of the traditional tiramisus we have enjoyed. Very well priced, elegant, Italian with a twist. Wednesday night dinner was slow for the restaurant but the food was most excellent! The antipasti was potatoes mousse with sausage and the meal was the ribeye with grilled vegetables. Molto bene!! We were in Venice for a while and this place was so incredible! I had some whipped potato and sausage appetizer (I know it doesn't sound good) that was so yummy I almost cried. Very nice ambiance and excellent service. Very good food. There is one table by the water but needs to be reserved in advance.

The fish burgers were exquisite and the desserts absolutely yummy. Highly recommend if you're looking for more than pizzas and pasta.

After the opera we had an extremely enjoyable dinner at CC which actually started with the fact that - as the whole event was a birthday present - we could place the reservation months in advance. Fantastic. Nothing more is really needed but this was the best dining experience in 3 days on Venice. Yes it was expensive but the value for money, food and service outweighed the slightly higher prices. The place is modern in design and experience. The beef tenderloin melted in my mouth. It's down a few back streets away from San Marco and all the tourists. It was quite when we went but the only other people were locals and those in the know. Put this on your Venezia list and you won't be disappointed. read more
