We happened to find this gem when passing through Santa Fe. It was tucked away but easily accessible with ample parking. Sadly, we got our order to go and missed out on enjoying the lovely set up. They have a dog friendly patio that was nicely shaded while we were waiting, and the indoor area was spacious and cute. Each worker I encountered was extremely friendly. We placed our order at the cash register and waited only maybe 5-8 min for our 2 lattes and 2 empanadas. My husband got a vanilla latte, and I tried their dulce de leche latte. We both really enjoyed our drinks. I was worried mine would be overly sweet, but it wasn't. It was perfect! My husband got the Santa Fe empanada (chicken and chiles), and I got one with spinach and cheese. They were served warm and with a delicious dipping sauce. Soooo good!!! Food was delicious. We tried the breakfast empanada which came with a salad and chimichurri sauce as well as some green Chile. The pan de banana was good but we suspect it was frozen before serving because the outside was warm and the center was actually cold - not bad - just surprised us. The alfajoritos are to die for - the biscuit has a hint of lemon which complements the dulce de leche nicely. Service was definitely a let down and why there isn't a 5th star - we called asking if they had fresh brewed tea with refills and were told yes! Upon arriving we were told we were limited to 1 refill which was kind of a let down. The service felt very rushed, almost as though we were bothering them - it became very apparent when they started clearing dishes from our table and charging us even though we mentioned again that we wanted to relax and hydrate a minute. We love this place. We visit New Mexico once or twice a year and we drive an hour to Cafecito. Everything we have tried is delicious. My kids love this place as well. The atmosphere is so nice and calm and we love the decorations. We had a great time here. We stopped in for breakfast before continuing our road trip. I ordered the gaucho breakfast with avocado instead of toast to make it gluten free. The meat was good but could have used some chimichurri. I also ordered a maté latte with almond milk that hit the spot. My husband ordered the Argentine breakfast with a croissant and loved it. We also ordered empanadas to go for the road and an iced almond latte. The gluten free empanadas are made with corn (I think) and are delicious! I ordered the vegan one and the carne. This is a gorgeous haven in the middle of what used to be an industrial area. The setting alone would draw me back even if the food weren't so divine, which it is! My husband got the breakfast empanada which comes with a side salad, chimichurri on the side and green chili on the side too. This breakfast empanada is a lot larger than the regular ones so don't expect it to be an appetizer. It will definitely fill you up. I got the empanaditas de ricotta and the empanada de verdura. They were so good! The dish also brings a side of chimichurri that just makes the dish incredible. The empanaditas de ricotta are definitely small appetizer portions so if your really hungry, make sure to order a few more empanadas or a meal. The empanada de verdura is just ricotta with spinach and will definitely fill you up if you're looking for a quick snack. Bottom line is, the food was incredible and exceeded any expectations we had! Meat was overcooked to a tough oblivion. Service was sllooowww "do you need a box" me: "no thanks, it was not good." Busser: "oh. Ok." Walks away and leaves the plate. Parking is tricky, not the cafes fault but I accidentally parked where I shouldn't and was verbally assaulted by a neighboring business owner when I left. There was an older couple Across from us that had been waiting even longer (they arrived way before us) and they didn't even have menus or water.
