Stopped in for a quick dinner with our two dogs. First visit for me, beautifully decorated and quaint environment. Food was amazing, especially the Argentine style tart flambé and Empanadas. The service was friendly, but the server struggled to take our order, and ultimately there was a mistake with the food that we were served, but the mistake was corrected quickly and with no pushback once we pointed it out. I suspect our particular server may have just been new to the job. We dined on the patio for lunch and it was very pretty, quiet, and just really delightful overall. My group of three decided that we simply must order all of the classic empanadas to sample together, which ended up being the perfect amount of food for us. On average, the empanadas were good, with some being a bit lackluster and others being extremely tasty. The chimichurri was outstandingly delicious, however. Honestly, the best chimichurri anyone in my group had had. Don't skip on adding a side of it to your empanada order, as it really brings the food to a new level. Below are my thoughts on each of the empanadas we tried: Jamon y Queso - absolutely delicious, top three favorite, great smoky ham flavor Carne - absolutely delicious, top three favorite, surprisingly moist Caprese - good flavor, felt a bit like eating a pizza hot pocket, but not in a bad way Santa Fe - decent flavor, but fairly dry Verdura - pretty dry and could have used more ricotta in the filling Humita - absolutely delicious, top three favorite, creamy and flavorful Vegan - I liked the filling combo more in theory than how it was executed, it was dry and lacked flavor Onion - great flavor and "creamy" cooked onion filling Lucrecia - strong parsley flavor and reasonably moist filling A final note: we were accidentally served the gluten free version of one of the empanadas (which was fixed by the restaurant once we realized the mistake). Unless you have a gluten intolerance, I highly recommend staying away from the gf pastry. It was very very dry and lacked flavor. On the other hand, the regular pastry was flaky and delicious, so I'd go with that option if at all possible. read more

What a hidden gem! This wonderful little spot is worth finding and enjoying. The food is delectable, and the service is great! The empanadas are baked to perfection. The lemonade is homemade and is the right combination of sweet and tart. Although busy, the staff was friendly and eager to share tips. This place was excellent! I loved the ambiance. The place is industrial and modern, using lots of repurposed materials. The food was delicious and unique. I had a dulce de leche latte, which was perfect. I was afraid it would be too sweetie that the dulce de leche would be overpowering, but the flavor was subtle. This place is adorable! It has a fair selection of tea and coffee. I only stopped in for a snack. Two of us shared a vegetarian empanada, a ricotta empanada, and a cup of soup. The food was very good, but not the best I've had. The ricotta empanada was half the size of the rest of them. All told, the atmosphere is lovely and the service was very good. Stopped by Cafecito a few days ago for some coffee and empanadas as an afternoon snack. Everything was so good that my friends and I planned to visit again today for breakfast! The menu is unique and showcases a wide range of different cuisines (Argentinian, Italian, Armenian,etc.) and the ambiance can't be beat. It is in a repurposed warehouse and the restaurant is fully surrounded by windows. Everything we tried was delicious and the service was great! We were some of the first people to try the Hibiscus Mimosa they are planning to add to the menu. It was out of this world good! Everyone should give this place a try. read more

Restaurant was immaculately clean and simply but beautifully decorated. Open kitchen counter service type place, and they bring your food to your table. What an interesting find. We decided with our neighbors to try a new restaurant every time we dine out this summer and cafecito was the beginning of our culinary tour. When we entered we were all impressed by the openness and lightness of the space. We elected to dine inside because the evening was a bit cool but it felt like we were outside. The next discovery was our charming waiter Manouk who we later learned was the owners son. He explained that if we wanted anything alcoholic (we did!) he was too young to serve us but he would send the manager over. The next surprise was the menu. An interesting mix of Argentine and Italian dishes. We shared two different appetizers and ended up leaning to the Italian side for our entrees. Three of us ordered the chicken Milanesa with mushroom sauce which Manouk admitted was his favorite. Our 4th tried the empanada sampler picking the meat, vegan and corn and ricotta fillings. He liked the meat and vegan best! Did we like the chicken? All but one of us licked our plates. The chicken was crisp and flavorful. The sides of mashed potatoes and green beans were the best. We declined dessert tho there were many tempting options. Have to save something for the next visit right? We learned from Manouk that his mother found the old warehouse building and she and his father transformed it into the delightful space it is today. Located right at the trailhead, it's walking or biking distance to the railyard. The menu is interesting and varied enough to encourage repeat visits. Prices are reasonable. There's wine and local craft brews available as well as an assortment of interesting teas and coffees. Definitely add this to your Santa Fe dining options! read more

From the moment you approach the court yard to the mon you sit down. The ambiance is on point with court patio sitting, lighting and lots of beautiful landscaping. My Dulce de leche coffee was perfect. My mom order a pot of tea sever in a cute tea pot with fresh honey. The empanadas entrees was plenty for three of us. I have been here a number of times, for each of the meals (even dinner when they were trying that). The facility itself is just lovely, open, bright, contemporary and set is a sweet, tranquil setting. The food is OK, but has never wowed me. The value is my complaint. I think the prices for what you get are too high. An example is avocado toast for almost $15. I make this at home and it never takes more than 1/2 avocado (more like 1/3). I add pico de gallo to mine for pizzaz; then there is the bread and no special cooking skill required (good sourdough--how much is that?). $10 seems like a reasonable charge that. Or, take chilaquiles for $18, this is a really simple dish to make (a hash really), no skill required with pretty cheap ingredients. Anyway, that is my 2 cents worth; I'm a value shopper, but I think you get that. read more

Cafecito is a lovely cafe specializing in Argentinean- inspired causal dishes located in the Baca District, which nests inside the more recently developed Railyard Santa Fe area- close to the Plaza area but clearly a more modern side of Santa Fe. I'm fortunate I was able to visit Cafecito pre-COVID, and have enjoyed takeout since then. My husband is Argentinian-Chilean, and it's hard to find good Argentinian-style empanadas, but Cafecito's are fabulous. It was literally a taste of home for my husband and his parents, and I really love the food too. I recommend the milanesas (either chicken or steak). I pass through while my road trip from CA to NJ. I stopped at this place and I loved the atmosphere. Good customer service. There isn't anything wrong with the place but I want to leave my review in regards the Empanada Breakfast. I was disappointed for the eggs were over cooked, and the empanada shell fell like the crunchy edge of the empanada was under cooked. It didn't have much of a favor.
