Came here after reading recommendations on yelp. I had breakfast - scrambled eggs with bacon. Absolutely amazing :) The eggs were done just the right way and the bacon was so crispy and absolutely not greasy The inside is quiet with soft not deafening music. Great place for breakfast and lunch. The staff are freindly and can answer any question. I absolutely recommend th

That has to be the prettiest chicken salad sandwich I ever saw on a plate. Prepared in typical smørrebrød fashion, it was an open-faced creation with a carefully spooned dollop of chicken salad atop a thin, manicured piece of rye bread and festooned with haricots vert and three strips of crispy bacon (see photo). It was lovely but rather pricey for 89 DKK (Danish krone), which converts to about $15.82. Now that price point would make the Asian ladies at Lee's Deli back home in San Francisco keel over. But I was on vacation so what the heck. Cafe Wilder is a compact corner eatery with a very light lunch menu in the bohemian part of Copenhagen called Christianshavn. It appears to be a local favorite because it was abuzz with bicyclists coming in for a quick bite and latte. What I like about this kind of place is that it doesn't look at all like a Starbucks knockoff but rather classic European with chandeliers, white walls, dark wood cafe tables for two, and big, inviting show windows that open to the quiet residential streets. There is a more robust dinner menu that's served starting at 6PM. Worth checking out. FOOD - 4 stars...cold salads are their specialty, but it may be pricier than you would expect AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...European smartness in a corner cafe SERVICE - 4 stars...the manager was very friendly and quite fluent in English TOTAL - 4 stars...I think I need me some smørrebrød now

On our last evening in Copenhagen, we had dinner at Cafe Wilder, a small restaurant located on an unassuming corner of Wildersgade and Sankt Annæ Gade in the residential area of Christianshavn. The place had opened bay windows all around, creating a warm, intimate, and romantic atmosphere. We ordered four dishes: Salmon (79 KR), Mackerel (189 KR), Poussin (179 KR), and Ox (209 KR). I had the poussin, which was butter roasted chicken, served over a creamy risotto with portobello mushrooms, spring onions, and parsley oil. The risotto was perfectly cooked, and the parsley added an amazing layer of flavor to the dish. This dinner was probably my second favorite meal during my entire trip through Scandinavia, Germany, Estonia, and Russia (best meal was in Tallinn). Service was okay, considering it was our server's first night on the job. He was a bit confused and slow throughout, but it was understandable and we weren't in a hurry to leave. We did have some issues with our credit card transaction, but that was quickly fixed by another server, who was much more experienced. Both servers were so welcoming, friendly, and conversational (good looking too, I might add). And of course, free Wi-Fi is alway a plus!

    Too late - sorry!

I had the open rye bread chicken salad sandwich. I have no idea how the rest of the menu is and to be honest, I figure I'll never find out. With chicken salad soo good, why ever pick anything else? Let me paint you a mouth drooling picture: The food comes on a rustic black stone board. Here, you'll find two pieces of thin, perfectly toasted coarse rye bread and a jar of deliciously home made chicken salad (chicken, mustard, mayo, parsley, salt and pepper) and small gherkins. Yummy! The rest is history. I wanted to take a picture for you guys, but I got so overly thrilled when the food arrived that I accidentally ate everything before I remembered to take the photo. Sorry! Apparently, you need to go and experience for your selves :-)

This small cafe in the afternoon cum restaurant in the evening reminded my a whole lot of l'Utime Atom in Bruxelles, that being, somewhere cool to hang out as well as eat. Both places have the massive unexpected bonus of the food being absolutely superb (well, the first time you go anyway!) This steak (pictured), was, quite literally, incredible. No ultra-lean cut, but marbled with quite a lot of delicious fat, and they didn't ask how I wanted it, but it was perfect. There's a decent lineup of beer too, including Tuborg on draft which tastes a lot better then when I remember it being on sale in the UK. Very laid back, and highly recommended.

This beautiful cafe is on the sunny corner of Wildersgade near Christiansvahn. The open sandwich with roast beef was divine and the cafe latte was to die for! The waiters were very kind and helpful!

Moules fries and a warm goat cheese salad Dig in!

Probably because it's hard to find if you don't know it's Danish name (HAHA!). I knew it as The Little Yellow Coffee Bar, however we know that's not really it's name on a map or google. It is tucked away, right off Strøget, one of the busiest walking streets in the city. When you walk in, you can order downstairs and sit there, or travel upstairs to sit at a table or on one of the comfy couches. I elected to have my oat milk latte and chocolate croissant upstairs on a couch. I admired the decor and sipped my latte while doing some work. Around dinner, it got a bit busier since they serve actual food here, besides pastries and coffee. At that point, it was a bit louder and less suited for work. So you could come here for either a meal with friends or to enjoy the calm vibes of a coffee shop, depending on the time!

The seating is first come, first serve and you order at the bar like most cafes in Denmark. The ambiance was so cozy. We ordered a cafe latte and a mocha latte. Both were delicious and creamy and they came with little ginger cookies on the side. We also ordered the 3 mini veggie burgers and they were so yummy! And actually more the size of normal burgers in the US so I was pleasantly surprised. The burgers came with the softest and tastiest potatoes I've ever had. Whether you're looking for a romantic evening coffee with your special someone, a cozy catch up with a friend, or some R&R on your own - this cafe is a must go to if you're in Copenhagen !

The mushroom frittata (I think it was) was absolutely delish- no rubbery egg taste, lovely mushies. I was worried about the carrot salad because it looked like it was tossed in something creamy, but it was quite good. This also included a really rich and thick tomato soup, and a small toast w/ goat cheese and a rhubarb jam, and some sweet treat- I'm guessing made with mascarpone. Hubbies sandwiches were good, though I've never seen mushrooms in a chicken salad before (luckily they were big enough for him to pick out so I got those too). Only reason to dong them a Star was due to the chaotic way and wait to order. There was one queue downstairs and two people intermittently taken orders. But, the people taking the orders also were making fancy coffee drinks and doing other stuff, so it was very staccato. When we were next in line, both people ringing people up went missing for quite a few minutes and then a newcomer went straight over to the 2nd register to ask a question, as if the people in the longer queue weren't waiting, and because the guys behind the counter were so all over the place they couldn't keep track of that. Then it turns out if you want to sit upstairs, you have to order up there, so off we went to wait in another queue. After you order, you take a number to your table and we thought they forgot about us, and asked a bus boy to check in for us and he returned with our food. Oy! Also: They do have English menus on request, but not typically on the table. Excellent food and ambience!
