I created this account to tell you to never order delivery (or anything for that matter) from Vesuvius. I ordered A SALAD 2 hours ago on a Tuesday night, and it still isn't here. They told me it would be 25 minutes, but here we are. From the rude service to overpriced food, you'd be better off ordering from one of the other 5 million pizza places in this godforsaken town. Ok I get it maybe if this was the first time but don't be mistaken...this has happened several times and I'm done putting up with this bs. I wouldn't recommend if you want to eat before 10pm on a Tuesday. Slice of heaven. Great spot for a quick, delicious, casual eat. Dine in or take out. Focaccia bread adds a refreshing element to any sandwhich you get(especially Chicken Special ). Toppings for days on their pizzas; never was a Buffalo Chicken guy before but Cafe Vesuvius made me sing a different tune. Worth checking out over and over again. read more

The specialty sandwiches are so good here! And they are usually pretty big for about $8 each. Turkey Emily- Foccacia with turkey, russian dressing and coleslaw Pegasus- Foccacia with pesto, turkey and mozzarella Donna- Foccacia with breaded eggplant, roasted red peppers, onions, pesto, mayo and mozzarella Mighty Zeus- Foccacia with Beef, turkey, ham, garlic mayo, caramelized onions, provolone and roasted red pepper. Went here and ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with bacon. Tasted awesome but now my ass feels like the real Mt. Vesuvius. The girl working there was at one point a friend and she hooked us up for free, which was awesome. However, I probably won't return because there are better options closer to me for buffalo chicken. I had my first pizza from Vesuvius and I was impressed. The small 4-topping was not small and not expensive. I am a big eater and had three slices left to take home for lunch. The crust leans toward the thin, but still chewy, not crisp. I had hamburger, ricotta, roasted eggplant and portabella mushrooms on it, all ingredients fresh and tasty. I ate there, and the pizza was ready about 12 minutes after I ordered it. Bubbling hot from the oven. What's not to like? We've tried Vesuvius about 6 times in the past 4 years of living in Marblehead. And every time we give it another shot, something gets messed up. The teenage girls working the register always give major attitude so that's kind of a given.. but delivery showing up 45 minutes late with cold, burned pizza is inexcusable. My wrap was a burrito that didn't even stay together and I asked for a singular wrap and somehow they heard 2 wraps? Pretty upset because I've been sick and I was ready to devour this and all the chicken fell out, everything and I am now eating a salad. I ordered a blt on white bread toasted. Instead they gave me a blt on a wrap. They are completely out of order. They don't even toast their gluten free bread in a separate toaster. This limits my family's eating. read more

Super quick and easy online ordering! Very friendly and flexible staff who made my experience amidst the corona chaos very comfortable and safe. So back in the day I worked in Marblehead. It was very hard to find decent pizza. Then I found this place. It was pretty good. But it was great because they made my pizza the way I asked for it. Wow! Great! Years later I'm in Salem with no good pizza places. I find they are in Salem!!! They screwed up the first delivery. But replacement order (Kayla was awesome!) was sooo yummy! Thanks Kayla! Would appreciate your employees wearing gloves and masks during this difficult time. Was in Friday night for take out and BOTH the employees making sandwiches and pizza had neither masks or gloves. If we're required to wear one to enter your establishment to protect your employees, they should wear one to protect us. read more

Called to order buffalo chicken fingers with half with the sauce on it, half plain. Told me they couldn't do that because they can't ring up "half orders". Why wouldn't you just charge for buffalo chicken fingers and only put sauce on half? Called the one in Salem and they said no problem. In general, I prefer people who can do simple math to make my food. I also prefer to bring my business to establishments that understand the fundamentals of customer service. I'm very disappointed in this place... I order 2 sandwiches and a specialty pizza for pickup. I was told 15 minutes, I showed up promptly in 15 minutes only to wait 45 plus additional minutes???? .... WTF ???? .... And the counter helps response to me asking how much longer was ... "Oh sorry we are busy" ... After I stood around for almost 20 minutes, I saw them start making my pizza.. I mean really???? While I stood around they made 3-4 pizza's for slices.. What's up with that??? This is the worst case of bad help, or yet bad management, or even worse horrible ownership... And the worst thing is, when I mentioned all of this to the people behind the counter who were more engulfed in their conversation between the staff and talking on cell phones and just plain goofing around ... They just did not care/ not even the slightest.. Didn't even offer me a slice from the pizzas I watch them prep/cook/and slice and put on racks for nobody while I stood there waiting for them to start my order...Just unbelievable.. When I finally received my food, they advised me to call ahead??? Are these people on drugs??? So unfortunately they lost a good customer as I purchase take out 3-5 times a week and there are not to many places in town to pickup food after work... Went here because I was in the area on a work errand. I ordered the Chicken Special sandwich, which is listed on the menu as topped with "lettuce, avocado, bacon, chipotle mayo and cheddar cheese." I waited until I was back at work to eat it, and was pretty disappointed...no bacon, no cheese...but there was regular mayo instead of the chipotle which I had requested. So I have a breaded chicken patty with lettuce, avocado and mayo. Not terrible, but definitely not what I was expecting. read more

ZERO STARS!!!! Called in and ordered two sandwiches and I was told it would take 25 minutes. 45 minutes later and still no sandwiches!!!! For 20 minutes I was told they were being "wrapped up," "coming out of the oven" and "any minute now." Everyone in my family likes their pizza, especially the Shrimp Scampi pizza. It has a nice crust with a good crisp to it.

The food's good, but I have to agree with the previous reviewer about the staff. I refer to it as "Attituvius" for obvious reasons. But "disinterested" works as well. read more

I'm not from the area but I work nearby. I really like their pizza, though I didn't quite like their service. They didn't seem too friendly when they picked up the phone and when I came in. First time I had a small cheese pizza which I find was very cheap and good. The second time, I got the Jay's BBQ Chicken pizza which was very very good! I had pizza from other places where they would put ketchup on top as their "bbq sauce" which was horrible! I like that they had fresh tomatoes and grilled/caramelized onions on top, it was less plain and I was able to eat more because of it. FYI, I'm not much a pizza person. read more

I am a local and have tried most of the pizza choices here. I deleted the rest from my phone and this is it for me. I know, pizza preferences are so unique. One person likeit NYC style and others like it thin or thick or whatever. I like what I like and think they do a good job. It is always timely (and that is based onmore thanone order). I have ordered their eggplant parm sandwich and it is so good on the homemade Italian bread. The bread has plenty of air pockets to keep it light while still having a crunchy, chewy crust. The egglpant is not over breaded either. I would prefer a little more mozz melted on it but overall it is a winner for me. read more

But as others have stated, they are so popular that they're a bit slow on the draw when it comes to delivery. They just opened a new restaurant in Vinnin Square on the Salem border. The servers are young and need to familiarize themselves with the menu. When I asked if two certain pizzas came with red sauce, the servers behind the counter seemed confused looking at the menu but finally agreed they all have red sauce unless they say "white pizza." I ordered Angelo's Special to go, thinking it had red sauce after I was told it did. Got home and opened the box... WRONG. I should've inquired with the guy actually making the pizza. Ordered a steak tip salad and beware... it is not steak tips. It is small pieces of steak tips cut up into small cubes. When I ordered it the girl who took my order first reminded me they close at 10pm.. I called by 9:30pm for pick up. I live in town. When I got there the kitchen is right behind the pick up counter and was filthy and covered with flour on the floor and cooking machines.
