Delightful in every day! Conveniently located in the heart of Wicker Park on the first from of The Robey Hotel, serving up delicious breakfast and lunch dishes. Pancakes were to die for! Breakfast sandwich was yummy as well, although the hash browns were a bit on the bland side. Still nice and crispy and fresh. Not cheap as the bill for 3 was $70+ with tip. Reservations are suggested but not required. Dining room is cozy with nice views of the surrounding neighborhood. Service was attentive and friendly, but not overly warm. Highly recommended!
Fantastic brunch place. Fun location- near a lot of other things to do. They have brunch all day, wasn't hard to get a reservation. Also LOVE that they take reservations since most places that serve brunch done. The place is cute, staff was very friendly Got the shrimp n grits and it did not disappoint. It was amazing. The maple honey pork belly was good but almost too big for even 2 people. Duck hash was good but was missing some crunchy texture I think. friends also enjoyed their dishes. Bloody Mary was a major disappointment though. And it was $17! My shrimp n grits was 19 so it just felt so overpriced in terms of a drink. Will be back
I ate at this restaurant while visiting my daughter in Chicago. The breakfast was very delicious but the star of the show and the reason I will always keep this restaurant on my radar is for the maple glazed chicken sausage. Ive honestly not had anything like it and it was absolutely delicious!
Love this spot for a delicious breakfast! Great service and yummy, fresh food. I love the huevos rancheros the best, but the yogurt parfait, shrimp and grits and pancakes are all excellent. I wish the hot tea came with a different set up, preferably a teapot of some sort just to avoid soaking a giant tea bag all at once in a small cup - but most places never cater to tea drinkers so I get it. Stop by for a great bite to eat.
I've seen this place on Instagram several times so we decided to stop by. We got lucky as there was one open table left, the main area isn't too big. It's in the bottom of a boutique hotel in Wicker Park. We actually walked by it several times without knowing. We ordered: - Duck Hash - Eggs in Purgatory - Loaded Potato Tots My favorite was actually the tots, they are more like cubes. Either way, the flavor makes it all the way through the potato. The Eggs in Purgatory were not bad, but you don't get much sausage. The hash was also flavorful, but more hash than duck.
We were tired and hungry after a day of travel. We were staying at The Robey, so nothing was more convenient than Cafe Robey. The place is very cute and the wait staff was very pleasant and helpful. A drink sounded good. I opted for Oaxacan on Broken Glass - Mezcal, chile, lime, Angostura, hellfire bitters. They burn rosemary and place it in the drink, so be careful. I had a smudged nose after taking a sip! We started with a Cheddar Bacon Jalapeno Scone with Maple butter icing. Very tasty start. It definitely had a bit of a kick, which was wonderful with the maple butter icing. I opted for Avocado Toast w/ Chili crisp, pickled onion. It was good, but it was spicy in not necessarily a great way. Even though I knew it was coming, it was unexpected. I wanted to give it a try, but personal preferences win. I prefer my avocado toast creamy and cool. Mark ordered meatloaf, which I don't see on the current menu. Too bad, because it was very good. I had a taste and I was most definitely jealous. If it happens to show up on the menu again, I recommend it. Cafe Robey was great in a pinch, but we never went back.
Every time I got to Cafe Robey I always have a delicious meal. The service is always great and the staff is very sweet. We are usually able to walk in without a reservation. The Turkish eggs are so good and full of flavor. Their bacon is always cooked to perfection and the French toast is fantastic. Definitely recommend!
Cafe Robey is an all-day brunch spot, which seems to be popular with the locals. We came here as a large group, and we ordered the following: +a Yogurt Parfait +a Breakfast Plate - comes with 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and a choice of protein (bacon, sausage, or steak); opted for the bacon +Breakfast Tacos - filled with scrambled eggs, pork al pastor, potatoes, oaxacan cheese, and avocado salsa verde +an Egg Sandwich - with chive scramble, bacon, cheddar, hash brown patty, and sriracha, in a caramelized potato bun +Buttermilk Pancakes - topped with whipped butter and powdered sugar +Chilaquiles Rojo - topped with cilantro, onions, crema, avocado, queso fresco, and sunny-side up eggs +Shrimp & Grits - mascarpone grits with cajun butter sauce, roasted sweet corn, and jalapenos +and, sides of Maple Glazed Pork Belly Overall, the food was fine, but could have been served warm; there was also too much of a wait time to figure out who our server was, getting our orders in, receiving orders, getting refills or even obtaining water, and getting our check. The place is kind of cramped, and there really isn't much room for individuals to walk around or get to their tables, aside from banging up your thighs, hips, and knees - pretty painful. The only plus side was the sitting area we found upstairs, most likely part of the hotel, in which we were able to find a quieter space to catch up. Limited street parking can be found in the area. +lukewarm food +inattentive service +limited street parking in the area
My best friend lives down the street from this place and recommended we get brunch here one weekend. We made reservations (they only take reservations, I believe). I picked out the biscuits and gravy and they were the best I think I've ever had. They had pickled peppers and they were so good!! My best friend got the bread with the whipped spread- which was also amazing!! (We lived on leftovers for the next day!) everything we got was so good. I would enjoy another visit!
My friends wanted to try this place and it was mid. The place was packed but I am assuming it is because of hotel guests. The food was inconsistent. It was either too salty or not enough. The only dish I would get is the shrimp n grits. I think the rest were not worth the price. The biscuits n gravy did not have enough gravy for the biscuits. The pancakes were $12 for 2 and with chocolate chips was $3. Their syrup had an aftertaste that made it seem like it was caramelized somehow. The caesar salad was small and not that filling. The salad on top of the fried chicken cutlet made the cutlet a bit soggy. Service was slow. It is designed very cute though.
I made a reservation for me and my daughter for a Chicago Restaurant week breakfast. I was nervous at first because Yelp has it labeled not good for kids but that is incorrect! They have a kids menu and even had crayons, coloring paper, and kids water cups. They were super sweet with my daughter and I'm so glad I brought her with me! For my meal I ordered the ricotta toast and esquites skillet. I also ordered a chai latte to go with the coffee cake which is part of the CRW menu. The cake is super soft and not too sweet. The ricotta toast is beautiful. It came drizzled with jam and chili honey and covered with pumpkin seeds and pecans. It tasted amazing. The esquites was exquisite. It has corn, al pastor, peppers, crispy potatoes, and was topped with two sunny side up eggs. It tasted close to an elote so I was very satisfied. Though there is no free parking, they did have free wifi so this is a good spot for working too!
Great brunch spot in the heart of wicker! This is an insanely perfect location for a brunch if you want to walk around the neighborhood afterwards and explore, as so many great places are right at your fingertips. Cafe Robey feels very warm, and an inviting location. The atmosphere makes you want to grab a coffee and chat for a while. They have a lot of options seating wise, making it great for people who are looking for a quick solo bite, or for a large group gathering. Definitely recommend reservations because of how packed it can get on the weekends. Service was top notch and everyone was very friendly. We had some lattes that were great, followed by an omelette which was really good, but for the price I wish it came with a small amount of some side. I definitely would come back for brunch or to try some of their lunch items!
*Restaurant Week Review* I did the $30 brunch for CRW and it was such a great deal! To start, I did the Loaded Potato Tots which were delicious! The tots aren't your traditional ones - they are chunkier and have a perfect ratio of crispy bites and soft potatoes. For my main, I did the Cinnamon Crusted French Toast which was so good and I didn't need to add syrup since it was perfectly sweet! It was topped with warm cinnamon baked apples and cinnamon toast crunch. They also brought out the coffee cake just before the french toast. I wish it was brought out as the starter like it said on the menu so I could enjoy it more, but nonetheless, it was moist and filled with the perfect combination of cranberry and cream cheese. Service was pretty good and I loved the overall ambiance of the place. Entrance to the cafe is located at the hotel entrance (over by the valet stand). Paid parking is available on the street and the Damen stop is right out front! This is a spot where I actually see myself coming back for brunch (because it's all day!).
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the friendly, attentive staff, inviting atmosphere, and a creative brunch menu with standout dishes.

Sometimes the best finds are accidental. We found Cafe Robey on Yelp during errands in the Wicker Park area. It's located on the first floor of what looks like similar to the flat iron building. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The menu is small, but has the standard breakfast items with a bit of a chef's twist. I ordered the shrimp and grits. This is probably the best shrimp and grits I've had in Chicago. The mascarpone grits are absolutely delicious, and the Cajun butter and jalapeños add so much flavor and a little kick! The dish had 8 pieces of big shrimp! If I'm ever craving shrimp and grits, I'll head over to Cafe Robey. I'll definitely come back to try some of the other things off their menu. read more
This cute cafe is location on the first floor of a hotel. The service was quick and we got seated right away. Service was good and fast. Especially loved our waiter who was patient and detailed. We tried the egg sandwich, it was typical but with fresher ingredients than what you'd get from a fast food chain. However the hasbrown was very crispy and delicious, a little on the salty side but tolerable. The egg in purgatory is like a shashuka where there's ground Calabrian sausage mixed with tomato sauce with toasted bread on the side. It was delicious with the toast!! The oatchata cold brew was quite decent and similar to what I would make at home. Overall I enjoyed my quick breakfast visit here and I'd come back to visit for dinner as they have an amazing dinner menu. read more
Food was delicious. We had the artichoke spread. A mix of goat cheese and artichoke. So soft and easy to spread on the warm pita. The meat loaf was the best I've had. It was easy to eat and flavorful. The chili glazed salmon was on the sweeter side. Would recommend to try the salmon with the herbed yogurt with capers and the marinated? cauliflower (it was vinegary almost) that it comes with to get even more flavor. Salmon itself was tasty and not dry. Our server was attentive and came over as needed. The overall interior is really cute too. A retro vibe but done in a modern way. We want to come back to try their all day brunch menu! read more
Came here for a brunch date and I definitely recommend! I made a reservation through resy but we arrived 15 min early. To my surprise, they were able to seat us right away! To find the place, it's a bit interesting. You have to walk through the hotel to get to the cafe. The cafe has a nice ambiance, perfect for a date or if you want a fancier brunch vibe for meeting up with friends (without needing to dress up!). I got the hibiscus berry tea (herbal) and the fall spiced French toast. The tea was delicious and the French toast was glorious. The plating of the French toast into a little tower is pretty and the French toast seems a little small but it's actually very heavy. You can taste both the pear and the ginger without the ginger being overpowering. I'm not the biggest ginger fan but I really liked it. My bf got the breakfast plate and he was impressed with how good the eggs were. read more

I've been to Cafe Robey, including their rooftop, a handful of times for brunch/breakfast. It's consistent in all areas - food, service and ambiance. I'm always able to get a reservation in a timely fashion and it's a cozy place. I really like the decor - heavy on mid-century modern, big windows with lots of natural light. It's a great spot to meet up with a friend to catch up on life over a delightful breakfast and a cup of coffee, which is exactly what I did this past Friday. Chilaquiles rojos were a little soggy, still had flavor, and it was large portion. Really wish they would introduce a verdes option to the menu. Banana bread was accompanied with whipped butter. And the sausage could use some more seasoning. read more

Cafe Robey is a great brunch spot! The ambiance is relaxing and calm. The service was good nothing special to note. We really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The wedge potato fries are some of the best I've ever had. They came out really really out hot though had to let them cool off before enjoying. Cheers! read more

Saw this place on social media so I decided to stop by for CRW '23. They offered a 2 course brunch for only $25 which wasn't so bad. This cafe is located in the lobby of Hotel Robey in wicker park right at the intersection. I was able to find street parking right outside no problem. The interior was clean and inviting. Service was good as I was immediately greeted when I arrived. First course: I chose the loaded potato cake. I didn't know what to expect to be honest. I was surprised when it came out however it was delicious! It came with 3 hash brown things with sour cream, bacon bits, and green onions. The bacon bits were really dry and tough. Other than that, this simple dish was enjoyable to eat. Second course: For my main, I chose the fall spiced french toast and this is where I regret my decision. All the pictures made it look so good and I absolutely love french toast. It was ehh. It was pretty dry and they didn't give me syrup so I had to ask for it. The presentation was very pretty though. When they said "fall spiced" they weren't kidding - it's like an explosion of cinnamon and fall flavors that are really in your face. read more

The food was a bit bland in that it needed salt. The coquito was lacking a bit as well. The ambiance was great though and they were very accommodating of our large party despite being a small space. The building itself is beautiful. read more

Wow so happy I picked the Robey for breakfast! We were able to get a last minute res online and we're seated right away. I ordered the breakfast plate with egg whites, upgrade to steak, and a side pancake. My husband got the Barbacoa Benedict and side of bacon. My egg whites were cooked well and a generous portion. The steak was a good cut and cooked pretty well, a little over peppered for my taste but still a good option. It also came with hash browns which were shredded finely and then fried until crispy, super good! Get a side of ketchup with this... tasted homemade and super good. And a crusty sourdough bread which was also super good. It came with house made jam which was out of this world and I'm not even a huge jam person. Highly recommend adding it to the pancake though it didn't need it. The flavor of the pancake was buttery and it was the perfect size and texture. I loved that you could order a single pancake too! Perfect portions. My husband loved his Benedict too! It came with a thick English muffin, two eggs, and generous portion of Barbacoa. He also ordered a side of bacon which honestly looked a little lame but the flavor was great. Overall, soooo happy with this meal and we will definitely be back!! read more

Came here for brunch on my birthday. We had reservations but had to push them back because of the tornado warning. So happy that we decided to still go. To start I had the Pinot Grigio. My friend had the passion fruit bellini. I ended up following up with a bellini too. For foods we ordered Duck Hash and Nashville Chicken Sandwich. The food was delicious. My sandwich was so big and served up hot and fresh. The slaw on the chicken was so good. Not your average slaw, it has apples inside of it. My fries were also delicious, they were huge potato wedges. My friend enjoyed her duck hash. We finished off our brunch with the carrot bread and coffee cake. Omg...we couldn't choose which was better. I would order both again...probably the coffee cake slightly edges out the carrot bread. Definitely check this wicker park beauty out. The service was spectacular. Shout out to the manager Diane for visiting with us and making good food suggestions. Next time I am trying the burger as that looked bomb too. The Robey hotel has alot to offer. Next time will enjoy that rooftop bar. read more

Cafe Robey makes a wonderful brunch. If you're in Wicker Park, make sure you have time in the morning for some breakfast and cocktails at the Robey. The food: The French toast is absolutely amazing, don't let the size of the four squares presented fool you, they are quite filling. They are soaked in custard which makes them moist and delicious. We also had the Duck Hash. While the duck was nicely prepared along with potatoes, the easy over eggs failed, they were overcooked and the yokes were not runny. The drinks: The "Oaxacan on broken glass" was executed just as described on the menu, had a little heat to it. The Passion fruit Bellini was quite refreshing. read more

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Café Robey. Our table enjoyed the Duck Hash, Shrimp & Grits, and the Robey's Benedict. The Duck Hash was a lot, and we did take our leftovers with us. It was good, but duck is always tricky. The meat was not dry or greasy... It's just that it's duck meat. But that was my husband's choice! Our son ordered the shrimp and grits. He gave me a taste, and they were fantastic. I very much enjoyed the Robey's Benedict. Waiter and ambiance were wonderful. It's nice to sit in a quiet restaurant while looking at the busy street outside. Also, their music choice was appropriate to the environment, and it was much appreciated! read more
Such a cute place! Their menu was very interesting - wouldnt find anything super mainstream, but regardless it was all so good! I love pork belly so the tacos caught my eye and to say the least they were extremely enjoyable. My friend got the chiqualles which were also so amazing. The place is a tad pricey for drinks (mimosas or bloody mary) so we stuck to coffee which was also very good! Super happy with this place! read more

Came here for dinner and service was great! The food was delicious. We got the tempura shrimp that was crispy and perfectly cooked. The duck hash was pretty game-y which I didn't enjoy as much and the eggs were over cooked. The tagliatelle sauce was to die for but literally counted the noodles and there were 6 strands... about palm length. Wish they had more noodles but they gave plenty of veggies which were delicious. Last dish was the chicken with orzo and it was juicy, tender, with great flavor. The orzo was to die for and reminded me of decadent Mac n cheese. Would recommend!! read more

Cafe Robey really impressed me! I had a coupon from the best food date member for a free appetizer. I stopped by on a Tuesday after work and it was empty. Please note the main entrance is the same as the hotel's. The ambiance was relaxed and the setting takes you away from the bustling intersection where it resides. The service was great and attentive. The food was amazing! I had the Bread service which was their house-made focaccia with their incredible pesto butter *chefs kids* I also had the Tempura Shrimp with was delectable. For my drink I had the Bee's Sneeze cocktail. Though it was small in quantity, it definitely packed a punch. I will definitely be back. read more

The food was okay at Cafe Robey. The ricotta on the ricotta toast was fluffy and one of the best I ever had. The croquettes needed a different flavor. They weren't bad, but not the best I've ever had. The strudel was really good and flavorful. Would recommend trying that if you go. For entree, the French toast was alright. It has a ton of butter and was a little dry, could've used some syrup with it. The chilaquiles were pretty good, pretty standard. The double cheeseburger was a delightful surprise. Very cheesy (just how I like it), Pattie's were seasoned and cooked well, and the bun was fresh. Only thing I didn't care for were the thick cut fries. Service was okay. Overall the space has a diner type vibe. read more
Café Robey is a restaurant that is part of the Robey hotel which is trendy and boutique. We came for a business brunch there and it was a treat. We got the French toast as a breakfast appetizer and it was fresh and delicious (full of flavor). I kept it simple with the basic breakfast getting my eggs scrambled sauce with cheese and they were on point. The hashbrowns were just OK, definitely need to add some seasoning. The Robey office their own in-house hot sauce which was good to add to the meal. They also brought out jelly for the sourdough toast which was good. The service was good with friendly waitstaff. read more

I came to the Robey with a colleague this past week. Online on the Happy Hour Revolution website based in Chicago, cafe Robey is listed having a happy hour every day from 4-6 PM. However, I wanted to double check, so I called the Cafe and spoke to a gentleman who confirmed that yes, while the lounge is closed for the season, happy hour in the cafe is 4-6, 50% off all drinks. Before hanging up, I twice confirmed that the CAFE was offering this special. His confirmation matched the online source I found, so we went. When we got there at 5 PM, we were literally the only table. Awkward, but not a deal breaker. Our waitress gave us great service, but after we had a round of drinks, she informed us that they've "never had a happy hour before" and "didn't know where I got that information." When I told her that I had spoken to an employee of cafe hours earlier, she doubled down and basically said too bad. When we got our bill, which was over $130 with our "full-price" drinks, I asked the manager if it would be possible to comp the beverages at 50% off that we ordered during their "happy-hour" -- which was four of our drinks, since they had clearly misinformed us. She proceeded to tell me absolutely not, and asked for the name of the employee who told me that, which I didn't have. Even if I did, I don't think I would've told her -- it's incredibly unprofessional to ask for a name and play the blame game. I wouldn't want to work at a place like that! While I fully understand an online source can't be trusted, I would expect that speaking to an employee and confirming only to be told no and treated like idiots is unacceptable and frankly quite embarrassing. Beyond that, I'm not sure how we could've determined there is or isn't a happy hour. I don't blame the employee who told me they had a happy hour, nor do I blame our waitress or the manager. However, I personally think the situation was handled very poorly and I will never go back. I live locally and was excited to book my parents a room here when visiting but refuse to patronize a business like this. Beware! read more
We had a great little breakfast at the Robey today. We had an Avocado toast with the pepper flakes that was absolutely delicious. The pepper flakes really gave it a Kick, different than any other that we've had. I also had the Croaque Moncier Benedict which was delicious too. The brioche bread and hollandaise sauce was excellent. The coffee was pretty good too, but the food and atmosphere were the stars. read more
Checked out Cafe Robey for brunch for the first time with my gf. We went in on a Thursday. It wasn't too busy. We got seated at this corner booth. Interior was simple and cute. Our server was pretty chill and she gave us some recommendations on what to get. Initially, I was going to order an omelette because I'm basic and you can't go wrong with omelettes, but she convinced me with her words and passion lol (honestly, so good at making the food sound delicious). My gf and I both ended up going with one of the recommendations, ordering the same dish, Croque monsieur benedict. It was the best Benedict I've ever had! I don't always order Benedicts because I feel like it's never worth it (price and taste wise). My bf loves Benedicts so I would take a bite here and there...and it's good, but again, I'd rather choose something more filling and delicious. So going back to the benedict, it came with a brioche bread instead of English muffin, which I loved! Canadian bacon topped with gruyere cheese, yolky egg, Hollandaise, and arugula. From flavor to texture....AMAZING! We both thoroughly enjoyed it till the very last bite. The price is on a higher end, but I'd definitely go back for the benedict. read more

11.23.2023 Thanksgiving Dinner. Food was just ok. Mash potatoes cold and hard. The 3 desserts they offered were absolutely horrible. Hard pumpkin pie crust and cheesecake in a little cup was just loaded with sugar without any flavor. The other dessert was apples and cinnamon nothing amazing to write about. Our server was not friendly and seemed he rather be at home. He did not recommend drinks from the menu and couldn't do something as simple as filling our glass with water. The restaurant charged $60.00 a person plus a pre-tip. Our server already had his tip in his pocket and figured why should he wait on us appropriately! read more

Is there a dress code? I've been here about 5-6 times but I was always wearing heels. I'm in gymshoes this time.
I think that if is for a brunch during monday to tuesday it is ok. I see moms with babies with a gym outfit. But the place is more hipster and kind of trendy place, more during weekends!
