Yesterday, I popped into Cafe on the Go for the last time. It was the last day of its operation. The bus terminal at Warden station is being slated for demolition. It will be revitalized for the next two years.
Many businesses have shuttered for good. This one and its sister business, Bakery on the Go, were still open when I was there.
At this store, when I walked in, I could tell that it was about to shut down. Most fridges that housed cold drinks were gone. There were still patties in their keep-warm display case. I also saw sausage rolls, which I loved.
The woman there was friendly. Both the cafe and bakery accept cash and debit cards only. This place had hot foods and sandwiches. If you needed to kill some time, you could also grab a decent meal or snack here.
It's bittersweet seeing businesses affected by the demolition. The woman let me know that there's a Cafe on the Go at Islington station. I may venture over there for my sausage roll and patties fixes. I may go on a subway reminiscing tour.
I'm glad that I was able to pop by one last time.
