Sandwiches

I have been to this place quite a few times because it's super close to where I live. This place is nice and quiet. They have got some nice seatings, free wifi and a pretty catchy playlist. Not a bad spot for evening chat after work as they usually closes at 8pm on weekday. Friendly owner and staffs as well. This is a chain cafe (originally form Montreal), thou, I'm not disappointed with their drinks and food! They have some pretty delicious things on menu. The eggpress was my favourite. It got vegetable omelet, lettuce, cheese, and tomato inside. A perfect vegetarian sandwich! The omelet was very delicious, it literally melted in my mouth. The bread also had a lot of herbs on, it smell amazing after they toasted it. A must tried at the cafe. My second favourite thing from the cafe would probably be the big cookie . Trust me, this evil baked goodie can be addictive. But it's another must try as well if you like baked goods. I grab one of those every time I go to the cafe. For beverages, I cannot say too much about their coffee, because I'm not a coffee lover. But this cafe offers freshly made smoothie! They have fruity smoothie, and some vegetables based smoothie. So fresh and healthy! Overall, a nice place for breakfast and lunch if you work nearby. Definitely give it a try!

I was very excited to see a new coffee shop open in this location. This place, with a chic modern decor, a corporate colour scheme and an overall sanitized look, is a Montreal-based company that's rapidly expanding to Toronto, Ottawa and Quebec city. So it's another chain; we have Starbucks, Second cup, Tim Hortons and Timothy's in the vicinity. Welcome to the neighbourhood, and hope you can distinguishing yourself. I went to the cafe three times so far, most recently this morning. There was fresh coffee brewing, something delightful was in the oven baking, and place smelled deliciously aromatic. Clearly, everything was good with the world. I paid $5-ish for my latte and a cookie as the barista was placing delicious muffins, croissants and other evil baked goods on the counter. They have a bunch of breakfast and lunch sandwiches (cheekily named presswiches) as well, which I haven't tried yet. What I have tried is their dark roast (called Big Bang) and unfortunately I didn't find it dark roasty enough, so I'll try again. The price point seems to be on the pricier side and operation runs slick, like a wannabe Starbucks would. The staff is friendly, good looking, overly enthusiastic and slightly confused, which is to be expected at any new establishment. Few tables and chairs to sit and grab free wifi. Just one suggestion since this place is new: Provide an option of soya/almond/"insert another fancy source" milk for your patrons. It is not cool to not have these options especially if you don't want to leave an impression of being just a pricey Tim Hortons.

Toasted marshmellow latte (approx $4)

This place was completely empty, so we chose to work here. They have free wifi and very comfortable seating. I ordered a toasted marshmellow latte (approx $4). It was not too sweet which was perfect. A very spacious cafe. Originally from Montreal I'm guessing? It seemed like there was only one staff member running the entire shop, but he was a very friendly young man. Tip: They have a discount for students!

I stopped by this place on Tuesday before going to a movie at the Carlton. I'll just say that it's simply different from the Starbucks down the block, and I would come here as an alternative if I didn't want to hang out at the "other" coffee shop. The selection of sandwiches and salads did seem to be murmuring "fresh and healthy" at me and I decided to try one out. I had a Turkey and Sundried tomato wrap, which was alright but I think re-warming it makes the tortilla turn out slight soggy. I also had one of the featured beverages, the Toasted Marshmallow Latte was sweet enough and alright. I do like how the inside was warmly decorated with Christmas items and the splash of red on the high tables seems to go well with the festive season.

Comfy, spacious, free wifi but more of all - comfy chairs!

I love ginger beverages- it wasn't overpowering here, I mostly tasted the kiwi and sparkling lemonade. It was busy in there but we still got our orders and drinks quickly, I appreciate how fast the service was. My friend got one of their banana bread drinks - if you like the taste of hojicha, this was particularly strong which I personally enjoyed! Love how the store also has sections where it is like a little market selling local goods and always fun to see the dogs that are sitting outside. The prices are a little expensive (my refresher before tax was $7.5) but typical for what you'd pay in Toronto for a fun drink, from what I've seen.

I'd absolutely come here to get some work done if I was able to get a seat. One thing I really love is that they sell handmade goods from local artists and host craft nights, it feels very community driven and adds such a fun, unique touch to the café. Drinks I tried: Maple Goguma Latte - Slightly nutty, lightly sweet, and super comforting. I added a shot of espresso, which made it perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Dalgona Latte - A really fun drink with great texture. Just make sure to stir it well since the sweetness settles at the bottom. They're known for their creative, seasonal drink menu, and I'm already excited to come back to try what they release next season. Definitely a must-visit if you love cozy cafés, unique drinks, and supporting local artists.

To be honest, the store and decor are so much better than the original store. Maybe because there's usually more traffic in the PATH, so it takes more time for them to keep up? Anyways, the store was cozy and clean and I felt extra welcomed as soon as I stepped in. I got my usual flat white and of course it came with latte art :) They sell more beans and merchandise than the original store, so definitely check it out if you have a chance!

But $12 for a small drink that's mostly ice is a tough sell. Two drinks and a breakfast sandwich came to $36, which stung a little more when we sat down for a full lunch for two people right after for a similar amount. To put it in perspective: a venti matcha latte with milk alternatives at Starbucks run under $8. When did Starbucks become the budget option? The cafe itself is cute and the staff were genuinely friendly, which counts for something. But there weren't any proper tables to actually sit and enjoy your drinks, which felt like a bit of an oversight for a cafe experience. The drinks were fine. Mine had a sparkling milk in it, which was a fun and unique touch. But in terms of taste, nothing really wowed me or made me want to order it again. The breakfast sandwich was a letdown too. Honestly, a McMuffin would've been more satisfying. Cute spot with good energy, but the value just isn't there. Hard to justify coming back when so many other cafes in the city deliver more for less.

Some reviewers complained about the loudness, but, compared to many other downtown locations, Landwers was a medium level of noise, and we were able to converse. It was not excessively busy, but if you are set on eating here, then make a reservation. I finally tried the Sinia Kebab, and it was tremendously good! It was also huge, and I had to take half of it home with me. The focaccia bread is excellent, and serves as a sort of bowl for this deconstructed kebab. My husband had his usual Cobb Salad, which he thinks is particularly well done at Landwer's. Our other dining companion had schnitzel, which came with some angel hair pasta. He enjoyed it very much. Service is, as I said above, "relaxed". If you are planning to see a concert or show afterwards, then plan ample time to allow the relaxed service to unfold (a.k.a this is not fast food!!) We had a 6:00 reservation, and we were able to make our 7:30 concert time with about 10 minutes to spare. The University location is conveniently located near Thompson Hall, the subway, and Union Station (Via Rail and Go).

This coffee shop is nestled semi-behind a pillar beside the lobby of the Intercontinental hotel Toronto, which adds to its charm for me, in a way. Love finding a good "hole in the wall" :) I love the bright, feminine, beachy decor and coral pink & aqua blue accents. It's not too tropical, but it definitely transports you outside of Canada. Coupled with Aussie staples like vegemite and Noosa magazines (takes me straight back there!), as well as gorgeous ceramic coffee mugs for purchase, the vibes are great here. While it is a smaller shop, there is enough seating for 3 tables, and it's very cozy. Had to go for a flat white, given the Aussie homage here. This one got my approval (and I'm picky about my flat whites) - they used a lighter, more balanced espresso roast, paired with just the right amount of creamy frothed milk. They also had a banana bread latte that my companion really enjoyed too! Looking forward to my next visit!
