Just finished eating our take-out dinner from here. We have spent the last 9 months trying to find a restaurant that makes the take out "experience" enjoyable and I feel like cafe Murrayhill nailed it. My husband can't stop raving about the steak bites. He devoured the whole entree within minutes. Everything seemed warm enough so we didn't have to reheat anything and could enjoy ourselves just eating out of the boxes. I had the kale salad and ate half of my sons fish and chips. My son has been disappointed by the last few places we ordered fish and ships from but these were delicious and they gave us 4 large pieces! We may even try their outdoor seating when the weather gets a little warmer. However in the meantime, we will definitely be ordering curbside takeout again. Oh, and the gal that took our order and then brought out our food was very friendly and everything was punctual. read more

Found a hair in the Butternut Squash once and now a big eggshell in the benedict. Manager was unapologetic and extremely rude about it and argued that it happens a lot (that doesn't make it right btw). I wouldn't want my kid to eat pieces of eggshell and choke on it. Cafe Murrayhill is a place where you can expect great service, and consistently excellent food. Summer offers outdoor seating near the fountain. Winter has a nice view of the fountain. I have been eating there for at least 10 years, and it has always been top notch. PS. Try the butternut squash ravioli in browned butter. YUM!! read more

I have been here 5 ish times and it's always pretty good. Until this last time (on my birthday no less) the food was inedible. I ordered the Murrayhill Benedict with the potatoes. All the potatoes were burnt, and unseasoned, my poached eggs were over cooked, the hollandaise was not seasoned at all. The waitstaff was amazing! They offered to replace my meal but at that point we had somewhere else to be so they took it off the bill. I do think they are overpriced for how much you get. My husband and younger daughter hat a 10.50 waffle that had like three strawberries on it. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

I go here all the time and never wrote a review for this place. My favorites included the butternut squash with gorgonzola ravioli, the club with their tomato citrus soup, and the rib-eye steak special. The flat-iron steak was a disappointment, but the rib-eye special is the same price and 10 times better with the unfortunate downside in that it's not always available. I was also a big fan of their meatloaf before they got rid of their awesome mustard bacon sauce. That stuff was heavenly and next time I need to ask if they still make it (perhaps they use it for a different entree). The beautiful view of the lake makes this an excellent summertime lunch spot. However, the prices have gone up in the years I've been going here and the food quality, while usually good, can get a bit inconsistent at times, hence the lack of a perfect 5 star rating. The short... Don't go to breakfast/brunch at Café Murrayhill. I have become accustomed to pretty stellar breakfast/brunches in Portland so trips to the suburbs are typically underwhelming. Our most recent meal was a slow Saturday breakfast at 9am. Service was poor and unfortunately for the staff we could see 4-5 them at any given time throughout the breakfast service gathered around the bar chatting. I guess the management shifts lots of servers expecting a rush on a Saturday, which makes sense, but then why aren't they checking on their customers? They don't care? Haven't been trained? Don't really need money? Who knows... Overall our food was cold, under seasoned, and unimpressive. Meh. Some specifics that stuck out were that the poached eggs on the Benedict had overlooked rubbery whites and hard yolks and potatoes were strangely squishy. The kitchen wasn't slammed because the restaurant was not even half full when we sat down and still wasn't by the time we left. We made a reservation to eat at this restaurant on New Year's Eve. We should have been tipped off of what was to come when we were practically the only ones there at 5:30. During Covid, we got the parmesan crusted halibut a few times and it was delicious. So, we were anxious to dine-in and try other things off the menu. While our appetizer and drinks were good, the salmon I ordered wasn't cooked all the way through. In fact, parts were raw. Our negative experience started at this point. I merely asked the server if they could cook the salmon more, and showed her it was raw. She apologized, took it away, and gave me every reason to think they were re-firing the dish. She and the manager came by a few times to ask would I like anything while I wait, to which I said no initially. After being asked a few times, I said dessert to go would be nice. They ended up adding it my bill, and presented the check. What happened to the salmon, I asked? Oh, we took it off the bill. You said you didn't like it, they told me. They actually never refired it and were confused when I asked about it. I asked them why they referred to me waitingm ultiple times, they had no answer. I asked fo r the mdessert to be removed from the bill. The icing on top of this negative cake was that they did end up re-firing the salmon, but the server stressed it will be boxed to go. They were done having us in their restaurant. So, basically, we left without my ever eating dinner. Unfriendly service, management disarray, and raw fish being served. This place was promising, as it overlooked the pond in a commercial park and had unobtrusive decor and service. Meeting a friend for a weekday breakfast, I ordered the veggie omelet, and my friend had eggs Benedict. I asked to substitute cheddar cheese for goat cheese, and my friend asked for a light poach on his eggs. You know that disgusting, black eye growing out of aged potatoes that you immediately cut out when you're preparing them? That's what was front and center when my plate was set in front of me. My friend even said, "what is THAT on your potatoes?" and yet the server said nothing. Yuck. After excising the offending spud, I dug into the omelet. The eggs were tough, and although filled with onions, cheese, mushrooms, and spinach, the dish was very bland. It could have benefitted from some herbs. I doused it in Tobasco and downed it anyway. My friend's light poach was anything but. Those eggs were closer to hard-boiled. When the server checked back, my friend said, "it tastes OK, but that is not a light poach." Instead of apologizing or fixing it, she just said, "OK," and walked off. No need to go back here. read more

Haven't been in some time although when we lived in Beaverton it was a regular stop. I've been told to give credit where credit is due. In this case there is none. I had the meatloaf. The potatoes were average and the asparagus was fresh and good. The meatloaf had a texture and color I'm not familiar with. So we decided to find a place we can sit down and eat like ordinary time. Cafe Murrayhill is a perfect place for it. They have a nice outdoor seating area with a gas firepit. Ask for a table in front of the restaurant. There are a few tables by the fountain, but it is always shady and a bit chilly in winter. They do have several heaters there, though. This is a great local restaurant for the family. We love to come for dinner or breakfast on the weekends. Everything is fresh and very tasty. The menu has a nice variety of items - pork tenderloin, butternut squash ravioli or a fantastic chicken cobb salad - lots of great choices. Super cute inside. This was our first time eating here but won't be our last. The atmosphere is great. They had the fireplace going so we sat outside by the pond. The staff were super friendly and there were a ton of menu options. The server never acknowledged that I didn't eat it and didn't offer another option, nor was it removed from the bill. My only complaint about this establishment, is the lack of usability of their website. I was on the road and trying to call them to make a reservation and was un-able to find them on google. (quite an odd thing for a local business, as it literally takes 4 minutes to set it all up). Aside from that, when I managed to find their website and tried to locate their. The phone numbers/email is a big sliced image Making it unable to be "clickable" for any mobile devices. In other words, you are unable to auto-click the number. Now this might just be little nit picky things, that in the bigger scheme of things doesn't really matter, but its 2011 and it's these small things really go a long way, especially in a society that is living in a fast pace, and rely heavily on their mobile devices. As well most people just figure local business's would understand and already have their listing under google places. That being said, the food is amazing, staff and service are even better. The atmosphere reminds me of a small town cafe, but at the same time has a "high scale" feel to it. The view on the outside patio near the water really sets the mood. So to start it's on the pond at Murry and Scholls nice location great clean interior fantastic patio so it starts good. So we order food we decide to split an omelet and get sides toast biscuit and bacon..... We are offered a plate for the split no extra charge cara wanted some avocado side only .50 cents total bill with a large milk 20.70 ok now that's great. Service was fast but not pushy what a gem of a find in my own back yard. We looked at the dinner menu and oh um yeh we will be back they have a great looking happy hour and dinners are very reasonable. Great job and keep up the food job read more

Have been here several times, and I keep going back thinking that my experience was a bit of a fluke, and that I must have caught them on a bad day. The service is consistently slow and inattentive. As an example, I would ask the waiter for water, and he would disappear, to reappear a half an hour later and he forgot the request. This sort of thing happened several times during our latest visit. It took almost an hour for our food to be served once we had put in our order. The food was good, prices are a bit spendy, but typical for the Murrayhill location. It is a lovely location and nice patio seating. It is jufrustrating to have to hound the waiter to get butter for the French toast, etc. and to have to ask multiple times. read more

Two words: bacon waffle Another place in my neighborhood I've driven past a hundred times, but hadn't tried. So a friend and I stopped in for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. I didn't realize the place was as big as it is. It's brightly lit by all the windows, and has plenty of booths and tables to accommodate a healthy breakfast/lunch rush. The service was quick and friendly, and the waffle... Oooohhh, the bacon waffle. One large waffle with bits of bacon baked in, covered with a fried egg. Very nice little cafe. The atmosphere is very modern and open. It's a small place that fills up quickly. It appears they have some tables outside for nice weather as well. On the day we went it was early and, therefore, still a bit brisk for outside but I would be inclined to try it on a warmer day. The portions were just right and everything very tasty. Cafe Murrayhill is about as good as it gets in Beaverton/Tigard. Yes, places in Portland are trendier, and may have better food, but for Brunch, Happy hour, and a nice Dinner, Murrayhill hits the spot. Their soups are some of the best in Beavtown - try the Tomato with a grilled cheese. Also you can't go wrong with their happy hour burger - seriously one of the best deals in Beaverton. But really, Brunch is what sets them apart. I personally go for the Veggie omelet with bacon added and a side of Hollandaise sauce. I typically sub their fries instead of the breakfast potatoes. Their fries are legit. Also, their bloody is the best on the west side. I like to think of myself as a bloody snob, and Murrayhill has some bloody chops. Get the Bacon Bloody (not on the menu) otherwise known as the JD Mary (Pictured on this review). Topped with Bacon, Bacon salt, and some decent garnishes. They even infuse their own vodka. The food and the drinks at Murrayhill are worthy, but the service and the people working there are what makes the place special. Ask for JD or Presley, and they'll hook you up. Genuine people, who want to make your experience great every time. If something's not right, just let them know, they'll make it right. Cafe Murrayhill really is the gem of Beaverton restaurants, especially for Brunch and Happy Hour. It's great service, kid friendly staff and menu, plus above average food, make it a place to keep on your 'list'. read more

Spongy omelet with average customer service. We ordered the vegetarian omelet and the eggs tasted something out if a bag. It was very dry and spongy with and odd taste. We also got the blue berry pancake and that was decent. Nothing special but had good texture and taste. Our server was friendly and attentive, however the person who greeted us was not. We had a fantastic dinner last night. We had originally planned to go to another restaurant but decided at the last minute to go someplace closer to home...Cafe Murrayhill. Service was spot on...both our waiter and the assistant were very attentive without being overly so. We felt like they were friends. At our waiter's suggestion, we split a small house salad and it was plenty. We ordered Scampi and Spaghetti Carbonara. Both entries were very good with beautiful presentation. The Carbonara was not salty or greasy or overly ladened with cheese. On Monday's, bottles of wine are half price. We ordered a Cooper Mountain Pinot Gris and brought the rest home. Overall our bill was $60 which we thought was very reasonable. We've easily spent that much at other restaurants and had a meal that wasn't nearly as good. read more

Outside seating is available and they have plenty of umbrellas to help me avoid the burn! My favorite is the egg Benedict with avocado! Went there on a nice Sunday afternoon and wanted to sit outside. Waiter sat us at the only table without shade. We had to move ourselves after 5 min of nobody coning to us. Our waiter was the worst. Sloppy, bottom 2 buttons of his shirt were open for us to see his nasty gut. We ordered coffee which we had to flag down another table's waitress for help. This place is clearly mismanaged. It felt like high school kids were running things with no supervision and the customers were suffering for it. The food was very basic. Nothing special at all. I went to Cafe Murrayhill for brunch/late lunch. It was just about the time they stopped serving breakfast I guess (I don't know what time that is). When I walked in I got some looks, it seemed kinda like an uppity place, and although I was decked out in Lululemon with my Coach bag (my outfit was probably more than a weeks worth of their paycheck lol), I still looked Mexican, and it seemed they questioned if I truly could afford a $10 shitty breakfast bowl lol. Anyway back to my review, we got a table and although our server was nice, she took forever to come get our order. Once she did, I wanted to get a breakfast bowl, she told me that although they had stopped serving breakfast she would put in that order for me because she took sooooo long to come get the order (that's how long we were waiting) I said fine, since she suggested it. I could've picked something else if this was an issue, but it didn't seem to be. I ordered a side of wheat toast because I love restaurant toast and it's a treat for me. Well the food arrives and I get my bowl and toast. When I went over to get a piece of toast, I realized they gave me not one, but two bread butts!!!!! AND the bread butt was burnt y'all BURNT bread butt toast! What in the world lol I have never in my life been served the ends of a bread loaf at a restaurant, it seems like restaurants don't do that maybe...do they? I don't know, but this was a first for me. Well I sat there and only ate one of my bread butts lol because it wasn't worth the carbs. I think maybe the cooks may have been upset I put my order in "late", but again this wasn't my fault. I was happy to ask for a different dish had a I known. I can only hope the server let them know it was her fault the order came in late and not mine but ‍ who knows. Maybe they gave the bread butt because for some reason they didn't like me because I was Mexican, or maybe because I seemed like an asshole customer for ordering after breakfast hours, or maybe Cafe Murrayhill serves bread butts ‍ All in all the place was eh.
