Loved it, was a weekend dinner carryout my wife and I enjoyed recently, i think last weekend. A Gyro wrap and a Fattoosh salad. We of course shared tastes of each. Very yummy flavors, fresh, awesome. The last 2 times we have eaten here. The food quality doesn't seem to be as good in the past. We always order 3-4 Souvlaki Chicken plates. I don't know if they have Sold this place after the remodel or not, but it's definitely not the same. We've been getting this dish since they have opened. When we are craving gyros and hummus, Cafe Medi is our go to place. We used drive all the way to the Hurst location (http://www.yelp.com/biz/caf%C3%A9-medi-hurst-2), but Keller is oh so convenient, and such a nice outdoor dining space too. It's out back, so no road traffic noises. We came by for dinner on a cool Saturday evening, perfect for sitting outside. Although we were initially steered towards indoor seating, we requested outdoor. There was a fairly large private party out back, so perhaps that was the reason. In addition to the cool temps, we were also rewarded with live music from a one-man band. Did not catch his name, but he was pretty good. Mostly older stuff (Beatles, Eagles, Billy Joel, etc.), which suits us fine. We started out with the Meza Plate appetizer, which has hummus, tzatziki, babaghanoosh and some pickles ($8). Very good. We split a gyro plate ($13), which was plenty for our two lite appetites. The gyro meat (beef and lamb) is cut from a vertical spit, as evidenced by browned on one side, not the other. There was plenty of warm pita bread, to perfectly compliment the food. As always, service was very good. We have eaten here several times, and I'm a bit baffled as to why I have not written a review for this location. An oversight on my part no doubt. Bottom line: If you are craving Greek and/or Mediterranean, don't miss this Keller gem! PS. Forgot to add BYOB. read more

Great food and environment weekends had a guitar player very delicious food the only issue is the green beans with the food.

I have been looking for good Greek food in the metroplex and finally found it. We absolutely loved the Meza plate. Some of the best hummus we've eaten and definitely the best in the area. Also really loved the lemon soup. At other places I have had to ask for lemon slice to make it tart, but this was perfectly tart and rich. My lamb shank was super tender and tasty - just finished up my 'doggie bag' for lunch today. The portions are quite large and the service last evening at least was great! It was quiet, and the tables nicely spaced so you could hear and enjoy the meal. Check out the bidet in the restroom! We will be back for sure. read more

We are an easy sell with good Mediterranean food, but Cafe Medi stands out as one of the best local Med Food establishments we've tried. The outside has an old Keller charm, parked between a hair salon, a custom furniture maker and an art Studio on Olive Street. The building looks in need of some paint. But rather than take away, it gave the ambiance an endearingly artsy quality. Inside was backlit quiet. It's hard to describe the peaceful energy we felt inside the dining roon. Outdoor seating on a stone patio is available behind the building as well. And the FOOD. We started with Lemon Rice Soup (Avgolemono) and a Greek Salad, both of which were outstanding. I have been feeding my +1 Avgolemono for months because I fell in love with it at a little Greek Cafe in Denver. The best we have tasted before Cafe Medi was at Casablanca down the street, which was very good. But, this recipe is even more lemony and savory. For entrees, we ordered a Beef Shawerma Wrap and Vegetarian Plate, a sampler of Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Tsatziki, Falafel, Spanakopita, a green bean medley, and rice. Every item on the Veggie plate was flavorful and amazing. The Shawerma was also rich and yummy. I found myself slowing down to chew longer because the flavor actually grew as I did. Service was top notch, attentive, upbeat, and conveyed a "yes we can" approach to customers. There was a large private party on the patio when we were there, so dining room staff was stretched thin. We noticed no gap in service or delays in our food being delivered. Cafe Medi is a must-visit for your Mediterranean fix. Highly recommended! read more

My oldest daughter and I headed out for a Friday evening dinner. We decided on Cafe Medi. Glad we did. Settled in downtown Keller, this interesting restaurant is located in an old house that has been modified to ramble. Low set ceilings meet early ambience of someone's 1940's era home that has a few added on rooms, added on back porch, and meanders a bit here and there. Small rooms are tucked away in every direction. Sitting in one nook was a musician with a keyboard and a saxophone. Excellent live music, gently playing favorites in the background. The feel between the old style setting with the gentle music was magical. The servers were warm and friendly, providing decent service. We were offered warm soft delicious pita bread. Talk about amazing, that was enough for a meal in and of itself. We ordered spanakopita as an appetizer, which is baked filo stuffed with fresh spinach, feta cheese, onion, and greek spices. It was served with 4 slices of dill pickles, a tart salad pepper, and some creamy dill yogurt. Simply perfect in every way. Recommended. My daughter ordered the lamb shank. The side greek salad piled high with feta cheese arrives. My daughter stated the salad was delicious. A standard plate later arrives with rice, green beans, and a bone with some meat around it. I had to taste the lamb shank, as I had no idea how this would taste. It was super tender meat that had been boiled in a pot of spices. I could taste (I think) Jasmine and a few other spices. It was amazing and did not have that too strong lamb oily kick I have sometimes experienced at other places. Recommended. I ordered the salmon with creamy yogurt dill dressing, rice, green beans, and a potato wedge. My simple side salad arrives with tomato, lettuce, cucumber, and some kind of oily dressing. It was super fresh, crisp, and just right. My plate arrives and looks quite appealing. I have to say, they got the salmon just like I love it. It had a slight bit of carbon char on the edges, but was not over cooked in the middle. That is perfect to my liking. The green beans, which I initially were skeptical about, were out of this world. They had tomatoes and really nice spices in them. I have to admit, this was a treat. The rice was fluffy and just perfect. I poked my head out onto the back patio, as the back door of the old house literally was behind me where I sat. Looks inviting. We chose to not sit out there due to North Texas hurricane level winds. Well, just under hurricane level perhaps, but you get the idea. Parking is a little odd, being in a downtown older home area. The whole experience, from finding parking to driving away, was so...not the norm. I felt transported out of the DFW metro to another place and forgot all about life's problems for a couple of hours. We waited for 20 minutes for a table, then sat there for another 20 minutes before anyone even came to the table for a drink order. 25 minutes later we had drinks and an order of hummus but still had not had our entree order even taken. Great spot, very pleasant back patio seating area with a musical duet (at least on this Saturday evening), though lots of flies and mosquitos to contend with. Turkish coffee was nice. Babaghanoush was decent but could have used a little more zing (garlic, lemon, etc.). Greek salad was outstanding, perfect dressing, feta texture, and so forth. Lamb chops were phenomenal (it was lamb loin chops, which I love, rather than chops off a frenched rack). Sides were a bit lackluster: green beans with tomatoes were still just green beans, and the potato wedges did not taste like they were freshly cooked. The garlic sauce (presumably toum) was a nice touch. Overall solid food and deserves the 4-star rating it has. read more

This place is a local gem. Sometimes I forget it's over here but when I remember it's a definite choice. The Mediterranean food is fresh with several vegan options. The ambiance is amazing- think old world once I step into what I think is a tiny house... I'm amazed. Live music with an intimate family style vibe. It's packed for a Saturday night by many locals (as I ran into 3 people I knew). The kids enjoyed their dishes and practically licked the plate clean. The kids gyro was huge and a lot of food but very good. I do wish it was cut in half as it was a struggle for the little guy to eat. The waitstaff is great and very accommodating! It's BYOB so bring your beer and wine if you want an adult beverage. Should you get he opportunity, head out back and step into Greece with their beautiful outdoor oasis. It's beautiful out there so if you finish dinner and still have your bottle of wine, finish it out there! It's definitely worth checking out. A friend and I wanted to go to a reasonably priced restaurant that was also BYOB. Based on the picture of the exterior I was a little hesitant but decided not to judge a book by it's cover. Cafe Medi looks like a small restaurant from the outside but when you walk in its filled with live jazz music and booths and tables. We sat in a booth and was immediately assisted. The waitress assisted with opening our bottle of wine immediately and providing our glasses. Not long after my friend and I decided to split a half order of hummus ( half order was perfect to share between two people as an appetizer). I ordered the Shawerma with a side of cream of mushroom. My food was delicious and a good size portion. Prices were above average but compared to other Mediterranean restaurants it was similar in price. We stayed for a little over two hrs to eat and finish our wine and at no point did we ever feel rushed. read more

Came here with my husband and another couple for an early lunch. The outside of the building is very eccentric, so I was excited to see what was in store for us. We were warmly greeted by our waitress and ordered an appetizer of hummus and pita bread, which arrived promptly. The restaurant was not very crowded and our wait for lunch took only about 15 minutes. My meal was tasty, however it could have used a bit more salt to bring out the flavor of the chicken. I try to not add any seasoning to my meals so that I can give a fair assessment of the taste, but I had to break down and give my wrap a heavy shake of salt. My husband had a gyro and although he noted it was small, he devoured it without hesitation. The other couple also had a gyro and a Greek salad, which they enjoyed. Our meal was reasonably priced and under $25 with the tip. I will most certainly visit again when I'm in the area! read more

What a treat for my wife and I. We are a fan of Mediterranean of food and this place satisfied our craving! The outside might not appeal to people but as they say, "dont judge a book by its cover!" I've lived in Keller for a year....literally a 2 minute drive from Cafe Medi and had no clue it was there until a friend of mine suggested we try it out since it was BYOB. Can I just tell you how happy I am that I discovered this place. I'm a big fan of Devivo's which is right across the street from this place yet I get tired of eating tortellini pasta every week haha. The lamb was delicious and the meat fell right off the bone! The gyro was good as well, but I've had better. Both plates came with rice, green beans, and a potato wedge. Got drive through. Food was ok but did not travel well. Of all the Mediterranean restaurants I frequent this is my least favorite.

So I basically judge all Mediterranean places on their falafel. It may be unfair but to be honest, I go there for the falafel so that is my standard. That being said, the falafel here were disappointing. They were cold and cakey. Not crispy on the outside and not creamy soft on the inside. They didn't have much flavor. I've done better at home. The rest of our food was good: the gyro was tasty with flavorful tzatziki sauce, garlicky which I like. The dolmas were clearly homemade which is a big bonus. The kafta was better than I've had in other places which was a nice surprise based on the reviews. I enjoyed it. read more

My wife and I had an underwhelming experience here. When we walked in we were shocked at how nice the place looked inside. We had an extremely nice waitress who took the time to explain several of the options for food. There was also a man playing saxophone which was a very nice touch. We had an appetizer of the Meza plate because we wanted to try out several dips and overall they were tasty. I personally liked my meal alot (Gyro Plate) - its huge - I thought it was flavored well and was an excellent size for the price. My wife got the chicken shawerma wrap and it really wasnt very good. We both thought that the chicken had very little flavor which we were very sad about because we love chicken shawerma. We decided to try the baklava and were extremely disappointed. It was either over cooked, or not cooked enough - I dunno, but it was very tough to chew. We had to eat it with a knife and fork because it was absolutely drenched in butter surrounded by a pool of butter. We ended up not finishing it. I don't think my wife plans on coming back but I would consider getting another Gyro - maybe a wrap this time just to cut down on volume. read more

We are big "Keep It in Keller" fans so we were excited to try out this new Greek restaurant... and we are glad we did!! If you know me, I don't throw out 5 stars that easily but this place is worth it! Here is what we had: Lamb Shank which practically fell off the bone with a savory marinara sauce with chunks of fresh tomatoes. Served with a side if what I believe was basmati rice and fresh green beans with slivers of garlic which was very good. Tilapia with crab sauce was on the specials board, so it is the same as the tilapia on the menu except with a different sauce. The fish was fresh and flaky and the sauce was an aromatic wonderful experience that was not fishy at all like most crab sauces can be. I was very impressed. Moussaka is a dish I had not had (done right) in years and this one was AMAZING. I felt like the food critic on Ratatouille taken back to when I was a young child in a cafe in New York eating the delectable dish. The bananas foster ice cream cake... there are no words for the flavors in this interesting dessert. Its is simply great, but huge... so you should probably share it with someone! I hated the food. I ordered a kabob and got some hamburger stick. It tastes gross. I couldn't eat it. My husband got this weird noodle lasagna. It was a macaroni lasagna ?? Calamari was fishy tasting not very good, frozen and small. The pita bread was really very good. The best i ever ate. I found the server not helpful on my selection. I ordered a kabob. This is a great place for groups. They do take reservations if your group is big enough. They have room inside for groups down the middle of the restaurant as the sides are all booths. There is also room outside. We sat outside and was told that was all that was available when I called the day of to make a reservation. At first I was worried about the hookah smoke, but they said it was rare that they have people doing hookah and they were correct, it did not affect us one bit. This place is BYO so we rolled in our cooler full of adult beverages. The ood was great. we started with some calamari (pretty standard) and some saganaki (Opa!) That was excellent and we got a few of those. It came out quick, too. For my meal, I had the Souvlaki Beef which was a nice piece of beef cooked to perfection. The meal came with a soup or salad. I had originally wanted to lemon rice soup but then once I saw others' cream of mushroom soup, I switch to that. They brought me both since I could not decide.
