Been coming here on & off for many years. Over the years it has declined interior & exterior. It's BYOB & they use to not charge to get it. Having to pay $25 to drink your own alcohol is insane. Parking is limited as well.

The $4 hose I had to pay for unexpectedly.

If you're coming here for the food, don't. If you're coming here for the hookah, don't. Just don't come. Save your time, stomach, and money. This place ain't it. If you do come, expect reheated frozen food, a hookah that doesn't work, and a hose you have to pay $4 for (no, they don't tell you about it when you order). I took mine home The only good part was the sever. She was sweet!

I'm just so grateful this place had ordering until 2:30am via delivery apps (I forget which one exactly). While everything else was closed, this one came through, and it wasn't just late night trash food. As always with 3rd party apps, the food was overly expensive, but it was quite tasty. GLOWS: - chicken Kabob platter came with hummus and pita bread -The grape leaves were meatless (they had a deal of buy one get one free at the time) GROWS: -The pita bread was just okay. It could have had a little more flavor to it with herbs.

My buddy and fellow Yelper Victor H. introduced me to this spot recently and I really enjoyed it. It was our birthday week and we wanted a chill hangout before our birthday celebration the next day. Cafe Layal has been here for awhile, located in Midtown. Parking sucks in this area. If you are lucky, you might be able to snag a spot on the street or in one of the lots, otherwise you can use a nearby garage or a pay to park lot. Customer service is great here. We did hookah and they kept up with it frequently and there was always someone hovering around to make sure everyone was ok. I am in no means a hookah expert, but have dabbled in it from time to time, mostly at friend's houses. Here though, you just show up, pick your flavor and enjoy. They have quite a few flavors to choose from. We went with a watermelon mint that was very smooth and enjoyable. Each person gets their own mouth piece so no cooties are shared (unless you're into that). The staff is also very good about changing the coals often so you can hookah without it burning out. It is also BYOB here. Bring whatever you want as they don't serve alcohol here. They will set you up with whatever you need. As far as food goes, I went with the Beef Shawarma. This dish was delicious. The meat was tender and perfectly seasoned. The tahini and all the other accompaniments rounded it out nicely as well. I did find it hard to eat as they cut it into multiple sections then top it with a sauce. Two sections and sauce on the side would've made it alot easier to handle. The fries it came with were cooked to perfection and tasty as well. If you are looking for a chill spot to hang with friends, read a book or get some work done, this is a really cool spot. I will definitely come back!

Say hi to Sabrina. She makes the BEST MINT LEMONADE here!!!! If she's not making the lemonade beware! She's the BEST SERVER!!!

Great study spot. And the food is good too. Ask for Sabrina she's the best at making the mint lemonade (ASK FOR IT BLENDED WELL!!!!). Excellent vibe for a game night or hookah hang out. Bring your own games, cards and liquor. There is a small cork fee per person. The patio is large and has TVs and there are plenty of TVs inside.

I truly don't know what took me sooo long to write this review. I absolutely love this place from the servers to the food! The staff is always polite and willing to answer any questions you have. The hookah here is really good the pineapple heads are my favorite and they last longer. The environment is very chill. It's a place you can have fun but it's also super relaxing. They have a patio which allows you to bring your friendly pup along ! Now let's get to the food! I come here at least 1-2 times a month. It's an hour drive but it's worth it. The must haves are: Hummus supreme, Caesar salad with Gyro meat and the kabobs chicken or beef and last but not least the Spicy potatoes!

Whats a corking fee for a hookah?
    Vik P.

Not a bad place for hookah, haven't had the food in quite sometime so not going to give rating. Though what is this $5 corking fee for a hookah. They asked me if I wanted ice for hookah, never had it before and tried, but seen no difference so just another way to add $3.50 for nothing.

The place have a chill vibe and the food is good. Drinks were decent and staff was friendly. Parking is terrible though. I recommend this place eif your nearby and wand grab a drink/food with some friends!

It's a hole in the wall spot that's BYOB with hookah and middle eastern eats. Always enjoy coming here with friends and dates to smoke hookah, drink beer/wine, and occasionally munch on food. There's also TVs here where they'll put on a big game or event and they play a nice selection of music. Hookah flavors include exotic fruits (mango, watermelon, kiwi) which I recommend. As for food, they have great schwarma, fries, and veggie greek pizza. While they don't serve alcohol, you can bring your own six-pack or bottle to consume for yourself. The store is across the street for convenience. A very chill spot where you can relax and enjoy yourself.

    Is the meat halal?

I m sure it is Halal . All Mediterranean restaurants in houston serve Halal meat.

Do they ask for ID in order to do hookah?

Not necessarily, but if they do, it certainly can't hurt to have it on the ready.

Decent pricing for drinks and Decent hookah for the city at $25. This night I went with one of my close sorority sisters and ended up smoking hookah with her. This location was dark and very easy on the eyes. It showcased a heavy middle eastern influence since hookah is heavy there. The variety of options are given in a menu style and allow you to pick whatever fits your needs at the time. You are also able to freely smoke as long as you would like with the occasional waiter coming to replace the coals on your hookah. They also hire their DJs every night, so the music can change and control the mood depending on what is played. The do played a variety of music from hip hop to r&b and pop, there was no shortage on the tunes just know that they will change. The downside of this place is the smoke, if you're asthmatic or have trouble seeing this place might pose a couple of risk to you. You might have trouble breathing or being able to see the ground as you walk into the puff clouds of other patrons. There is also a mixture of patrons, some there to enjoy themselves and others to have parties and fun, if you're set on a flat consistent vibe then this may not be a place, there was someone on a couch enjoying their entire life while we were there, luckily we didn't care how they did anything it didn't interfere with us. Risk was also a major thing to be mindful of, the coals can be extremely hot and give damaging burns, people can also get sick from the hookah so be careful of the health risk and also use caution around the hookah to avoid coals! Overall a good place, if you're in Houston definitely stop by and have a good time.

Aly the manager is so kind and opens his place until the last customers leaves and never acts pushy or rude. They've also done some renovating to the place and it looks pretty nice now. New couches and tv's at every corner of the lounge, plus they've added some nice decor to the walls. Only complaint I have is the music they play. Aly lets this amateur DJ come in every once in a while to play and test out his music, but it's just so loud and overbearing sometimes. It's hard to have conversations when the DJ is there... But besides that, I would highly recommend!

I'm just not ok with a dj who is being paid by the owner, telling folks or allowing the MC to tell folks in order to request a song, you gotta pay. If I chose to tip him, so be it, but being forced ain't cool. My biggest complaint was the price of everything. Now I'm a country chick and realize that prices are more expensive in the city. I was approached by the manager and I told her I needed a set up. She asked me what chasers I wanted and I said water and coke. I was charged separately for the water and coke that was supposed to be included in my set up.... so all together for a set up and a hookah, I paid over $60. I've never paid, IN HOUSTON, more than $10 for a set up and $35 for a hookah. Then they have small 4 oz paper cups to get the ice out with. After all this she attempted to charge me a bottle fee for each bottle I brought in. I sincerely think the young lady wasn't sure about what she was doing. Again she maintained her professionalism but she looked overwhelmed. Let's move on to those hookahs, the flavor lasted maybe 10-15 minutes and then the other lady who was helping refresh the coals was firmly pressing them down on the foil. I called her to the side and advised her that she was going to burn the shisha like that and sure enough my next puff was nothing but burnt shisha. They did replace it for free so I can't say much about that but overall....... The employees need training, I think they were overwhelmed and I think y'all were understaffed to serve the amount of people that accompanied this party... Great establishment Great employees Refine their skills and you'll be open a long time.
