Cafe Landwer offers a consistent dining experience. It's a busy restaurant. Best to have a reservation - even for 2 people. We usually get the same dishes each time, not wanting to experiment here. We like the Chicken Schnitzel (on the small side), the Sweet Potato & Chestnut Ravioli (best pasta they have), and the Shakshuka. These are all really good. Terrible. I was in by myself and opted to sit at the bar for some quiet. Ordered the halloumi and zaatar sandwich with fries. I have had this dish before from a different branch downtown more than once and know when done right it is really good. But alas, I received it ice cold, even the fries. I had two fries and took a small bite out of the sandwich because I was trying to convince myself maybe it just seems cold and it's not that bad, but it tasted like it was sitting at the window for the last half hour. The halloumi was obviously pre-fried, extra rubbery and sitting until someone ordered the sandwich & the toasted bread was cold. It was just very sloppily put together. I normally hate to complain EVER and typically don't but if I am paying over twenty dollars for a mere sandwich, it should be done right at the very least, so I asked for it to be remade and I told the server verbatim, " if you guys are busy I understand, I am in no rush, take your time and I'll wait for it to be redone properly". Server comes back a few minutes later with visibly less, darker fries on the plate and a much darker sandwich. I asked him, " was the sandwich redone or just reheated?" He says "redone". Of course it is now actually hot but almost burnt because they did not remake it, they just reheated it and lied about it. My small bite out of the sandwich was staring at me as the server said "redone". Not a big deal to me coz I hate being wasteful as long as it's my sandwich, but I did not care for being lied to. I also know that with the components inside that specific sandwich, reheating is not the best idea as some components like the labneh & tomatoes are typically intended to stay cold-ish. Server also never came back to check on how the 're-fired' dish was. I had planned to stay longer and order more food and a drink but I will never come back here again. I gave two stars (I had originally planned on giving one only) because the server was apologetic after I told him what happened. The plate was so obviously reheated (fries and sandwich were visibly darker plus the bitten portion was obvious) so I find it hard to believe he wasn't aware. He offered me a variation of the drink I planned to order later on the house, which I appreciated, but honestly, I'd rather pay for good food/service rather than have my experience ruined and then get comped. read more

Always loved this place, coffee roast is premium and the food flavours are great. I'm a fan of most of their food but noticed sizes shrank while prices went up. Despite the photo I took, which made lunch look generous on this tiny table. The side salad for my Shashuka seemed almost like a garnish, and the pan is huge but the two eggs nestled in shallow sauce than previous. Sandwiches seem lighter in filling but are still delish for the roast beef or schnitzel. Still coming back here if in the area but it's not portioned or priced like before. read more

I was underwhelmed with Cafe Landwer. The inside is quite cute, and gives off retro vibes. It is decorated nicely and is warm and inviting. The service wasn't great. There was no initiative taken by the waitress to top up our water; I had to flag her down and ask each time for a refill. Lastly, the food was just ok. I ordered the Sinia kebab. The entire dish lacked flavour, especially the meat. Cafe Landwer is probably be a cute spot for a date/coffee but not if you'd like a full meal. read more

Food was fine - pricy for the portions but overall tasty. Issue was the waitlist system. I'm not sure if it was an issue with Yelp or if the restaurant, but we joined the online waitlist 30 minutes ahead of time (estimate was 10:02-10:17am) and still had to wait 50 minutes for our table (10:50am). You have to check in in-person and your whole table has to be seated for you to actually be "on their list". Disappointing as we planned ahead of time! read more

We chose the kebab shakshouka with challah bread and salad which all tastes amazing. Also got a halloumi sandwich which was probably the best and big portion! And got the protein packed Omlette with potatos and challah which was okay..was a small Omlette with not too much protein added in it. I would come back and try more here though. The original location for this franchise in Canada. A global operations which I've enjoyed for the past 20 years. This place serves incredible breakfast all day which I highly recommend. Everything from a traditional omelette. The French toast is incredible and massive. Another favorite of mine. For dinner I enjoy the schnitzel which is my favorite. The coffee and desserts here are amazing and you can just come here to enjoy these options. Service here is always friendly and on time. Staff are very well trained and deliver good service. The decor has a European flair to reflect the original owners and founders of this business. It has a European vibe to it which makes it also a nice experience. Highly recommend this location and any other locations that they have within the Toronto area. I've yet to have a disappointing mule here and it is when my one of my go-to options for the area. read more

This is the best Cafe Landwer location I have been to ever! Love the ability to put myself on the waitlist using Yelp while I am at home and en route to there. We finished our meal around 12 pm, and even though we were ready to leave, the waiter, Jacob, kept pestering us, asking if we needed anything else, even before the 90 minutes were up. I had subbed sweet potato fries, probably the crispiest I have ever enjoyed. I took most of them home to share with the family, primarily to make room for desert. It rare to see bread pudding on a menu. It's one of my faves, and this one was totally out of control. The bread was soaked in a silky custard, drizzled with caramel and topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. Served in a hot cast iron pan, it was a race to eat before the ice cream melted. No fault of theirs but watch out as maniacs r driving in there. The service is excellent with polite staff and wait list enabled via Yelp. Came just b4 Friday lunch time and place was packed so that's gotta mean something. Seating was comfortable as it wasn't too tight. We each got the staple with different options. I'm extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Bathurst location. The food was decent, but the service was appalling. It was clear that the staff were more interested in closing up on time than providing a pleasant dining experience for their customers. We had a table reservation for 8pm, they close at 10. As we just order the food and they already rushed to pick up stuff from the table. Salt, candle.. As we were finishing our main courses, the server started hovering around our table, repeatedly asking if we were done (some plates still had food in it). Needless to say no coffee/dessert were asked.. we really didn't feel welcome and complained about it to the server who reply I'm just following boss rules. Few minutes to 10 he came to us to remind us they close at 10 (resturant was still full with people..) I understand that restaurants have closing hours, but it's not unreasonable to expect a certain level of service and hospitality, especially when you're paying good money for a meal. Unfortunately, landwer fell short of my expectations. Will look for better place for our next get together! read more

I've been to Cafe Landwer on a couple occasions and always ordered their Mediterranean shashuka but this time around, it was time to try something new! I also recently found out about their online ordering platform which is easy to use and allows you to collect points so I've been an even more frequent customer. For the reason of takeout, the ROAST BEEF GRILLED SANDWICH, which consists of thinly sliced roast beef sautéed with caramelized onions, parsley and mushrooms, with pickles and garlic aioli on a Jerusalem bun, is a common order of mine. Just from reading the description, you can get a sense of how flavorful this is! Not to mention, the roast beef is nice and tender. Though this typically comes with a side salad, I upgraded it to TRUFFLE FRIES. These fries were soft and potato-y but that truffle oil really made it fragrant and I loved the dipping sauce that came with it. It is $19.95 plus $2.50 upgrade for truffle fries. You must also try their NUTELLA LATTES if you're ever stopping by, who wants one?! Conceptually this is similar to a mocha but is better in my opinion. I mean, who doesn't love Nutella??? This was perfectly sweet and tasty, there's nothing I'd change about it. read more

I would give this place three and a half Stars Their tables are spaced out more than 6 feet apart they have a patio that has a fireplace however everybody who was on the patio looks really cold I dined inside however even though there was a lot of staff my waitress seems to be doing most of the tables inside and outside which caused her to be slow I got back around and make sure we were okay There's a lot of options on the menu and it doesn't really follow a theme so I didn't know what they specialized in my mother got the house blend tea which comes with fresh ginger cinnamon sticks mint leaves but then it also came with a tea bag which I kind of thought was weird I got the dark chocolate mocha which I felt really just tasted like dark hot chocolate and I did not drink it We did order it is the for my chicken hummus and it was delicious the chickpeas were fresh and the shawarma chicken was extremely tender and flavorful and the pita was hot soft and tasty that was the highlight of our experience our waitress was really nice but again she was a little bit slow but that's because she was attending too many tables at once read more

I had wanted to bring my other half to this cafe to check out on the weekend, but on a Sunday at brunch it was totally packed. Later in the week though, we happened to have the morning off and was able to try this place on a weekday with no line. Upon entering we were promptly greeted, and I cant think of the proper word but I found the interior decor quite "comfortable" with a very homey feeling. The menu was quite large with a variety of options to choose from, and a number of food combinations I dont usually see. We ended up getting a shashouk and the famous breakfast. Both came out quite quickly, and visually was impressive. Taste wise it was quite a diverse number of flavors that was very contrasting but complimentary. The only thing that I would want to mention is that this place is definitely "you get what you pay for", so I wouldnt really expect this place to have a lot of great deals, which is totally fine. I would totally recommend this place to anyone that wants to brunch, or meet up and catch up with an old friend due to its homey interior. read more
