Gone back to the cafe at Haight and Fillmore ..got mocha ..nice seating ...band music Sunday ...two years ago ...Fillmore bus

guava strawberry smoothie

My first time trying a guava and strawberry smoothie and it was unsurprisingly good. The staff is so so friendly and there's live jazz playing. Big tables to work from, sockets to charge and wifi but would definitely come back with a book to read.

Cafe International is a gem located on Haight and Fillmore in the Mission. I was searching for a cafe with outlets and wifi to work for the day and landed on this location - it's large, spacious, and has lots of seating and outlets scattered around. Initially, I thought this place was cash only based on other reviews, but the cashier informed me that they started taking credit cards last year after having their ATM robbed. I ordered 2 iced coffees which came with a cute gun-shaped piece of ice and a latte, although they do have several options for breakfast, lunch, and pastries. It will get crowded towards the lunch hour and you might get asked to move if you're sitting alone at a large table like I was, which I didn't mind. I'll be back here to try their Turkish Coffee and work remotely next time I'm in the city and prefer to work away from the office.

Been here a few times. This place feels familiar, like an acquaintance you just kind of know, but not quite a friend yet. Maybe you both came from two different planets but somehow you ended up on earth, here in beautiful San Francisco. And then one of you invites the other over, maybe you order a sandwich or a snack and they get you some coffee, you settle in and start talking and you both start to click. Kind of like that. Comfy. I usually go for my Americano. Located on Haight & Fillmore.

Seems like a lovely community space with really sweet service and affordable prices! I got an iced latte, and they even mixed in coffee ice cubes with normal ones! The tuna bagel was yummy as well, and on Sundays they have a live jazz band performing. There's also a wonderful mural in the backyard.

Love cafe international! It's so cozy inside, the perfect place to spend a rainy day. The service is also great, feels very homey and the food is delicious. It's a great coworking place away from home

Cozy, cushy, old-school comfort zone. Great food, great atmosphere, great drinks, and great people. This isn't like most coffee shops or cafes in San Francisco! It almost closed down but the community rallied to save it, and the city is better for it. There's history here and it feels like home--something some of the newer, flashier cafes lack. Yummy croque monsieur and other sandwiches and baked goods. Very comfy seating.

staff were really friendly! they apparently have a live band playing from 1-5pm. the hot latte ($4+) was a good size, oat milk was an extra $1 and the total came up to $7. espresso could have been a bit stronger

Iced Latte - YUM!

This place is fantastic! It's very large, but has a cozy feel at the same time. Went at different times of the day on weekends and weekdays and there was always a choice of seating. On Saturday afternoon there was a jazz band that was excellent. The staff was wonderful. My most favorite thing was the iced latte that came with a pistol-shaped ice cube! Feels very local, no tourists with bus stop on the corner. Free wifi, great for studying or working, reading a book, knitting, etc. Love this place!

Lox Bagel

Food: I ordered a Lox Bagel. I was surprised to see that the bagel came on a plate with the toppings neatly arranged on the side - and I found that I quite prefer it this way. It allows for the freedom of choice for what & how many toppings one would like to have at a time. Service: order at the counter and pick up when your name is called, then bus your own table. The owner is very welcoming and kind. Ambiance: Near the entrance, there are plenty of cozy plush chairs and couches to sink into. There are plenty of wooden tables and chairs as well in the majority of the cafe. This appears to be a great place to study, write, or work in peace. The cozy aspect is something I would return for.

Turkish Coffee

This was my first stop in San Francisco as I needed a pick me up. The staff was wonderfully pleasant and explained the difference of Turkish coffee. I was intrigued and gave it a try - OMG. It includes flavors of cardamom and ginger which was a wonderful herbal addition that I will be thinking about forever now. The coffee did not include cream, but was thick and creamy itself without it. I'm obsessed! The cafe itself was very open air with open doors and a back patio with plenty of plants and mural art. This was a wonderful stop on my walk, I'd recommend it, specifically give the Turkish Coffee a try!

Oh gosh! I had such a great experience here today. First time customer, found them through infatuation SF "best places near me to get serious work done". Meaning i have enough space to privately sit with my laptop and headphones for a few hours, uninterrupted, to get stuff done. Cappuccino: DELIGHTFUL, the barista wrote my full middle eastern name into the foam! I've never seen it spelled out in a cap My Bagel Sandwich came with more accoutrements than at most places for 6.50! delightfully crispy, creamy-cheesy goodness served with a smile. Strawberry Smoothie to finish it off The music was loud, but pleasant in an unexpectedly awesome way. I'm usually sensitive but chose to sit near the speakers and really....Get. Stuff. Done. If you prefer more quiet, they have plenty of seating away from the one speaker Outdoor seating - yes. Your friend's diy cute backyard vibes, calm, cute!!! Outdoor plug for charging: i didn't see one. Indoor seating - yes. or Indoor plug for charging: yes! Small business & locally owned for yearssss. so glad i came in and got to interact with the awesome staff and get away from my chaotic house (where I'm constantly needed). PSA to gross negative reviewers below: Stop nickel and dimming small businesses over a $.5 charge. How many times have big banks or insurances hit you with some dumb fee significantly higher? Anyway!!! Go support this business

The space is nice, the coffee was only ok. The owner who took our order was rude. Poor service ruins whatever it has going for it.

When do they play live jazz? And, what time?

These days it's been Sunday mornings when they open and sometimes until after they close.

What time does the open mic sign up start and how long does it go for?

Re: NO. 19 (corned beef) & Potato Salad…read more Wow. Great sandwich!!! I've been looking for a place in town that delivers the same type of meals I'd find in Katz's (nyc), and Wise Sons is good!!! The bread was on point, not soggy at all even though this particular sandwich comes with coleslaw inside (I loved the sweetness of the slaw with the Russian dressing). The corned beef was spectacular. And I also liked their potato salad very much. You can bet I'll be ordering again from this place.

Weirdly, I often have egg-salad sandwiches on my mind, even though I know they can be gross. I've had plenty of egg-salad disasters, sandwich and otherwise, and I'm normally a very gun-shy person, but if a place has egg salad on its menu, I'll probably order it. Wise Sons always has egg salad on its menu. The problem is that it didn't have any egg salad on hand the first two times I came here.* Whatever I had instead, both times (and I had something different each time) was delicious. I don't know why I haven't tried the latkes yet. I guess I'm not a very wise son. The place is old school and feels perfect inside. It won't transport you magically to the past like many killer authentic interiors will, but it's very easy to imagine what the inside of this store looked like in 1941 or whenever. There was never more than one other person dining in each time I came. Maybe it's because I came so late in the day? More people would make it feel like a convivial breakfast destination. Empty, it feels like a good place with good food. Yes, it's overpriced, especially with all the delicious food you can get for cheaper within a few doors of this business on 24th Street in the Mission. But Wise Sons. It's a thing, a thing I'm glad I got wise to. *Did they sell out? Just didn't bother to make it? Who orders egg salad in the 2020s, anyway?

Great Reuben Sandwiches!…read more This location is very convenient to BART (24th Street / Mission station). It is only a three block walk from the station. My wife and I were meeting someone in San Francisco in the afternoon and we wanted to eat lunch beforehand. We were interested in trying Wise Sons Deli since we have heard so many people praising it. Since we were coming into the city via BART, this location was great. The ambiance is pretty basic; ordinary tables and chairs and only some photos on one wall. You order and pay at the counter and then someone will deliver the food to the table. If you want coffee or water it is serve-yourself. However, the food is fantastic! My wife ordered a corned beef Reuben sandwich ($18.50). It was thick and very tasty. I ordered a House Special Pastrami Reuben that had a smaller Reuben sandwich, french fries, a side of cole slaw, and a drink ($19.50). While it had half as much meat as the regular Reuben, it was still a good size. They make their own Pastrami and Corned Beef and it tastes great. My wife normally doesn't like Pastrami but loved the taste of Pastrami made by Wise Sons. The meat is thick, tender, juicy, and DELICIOUS!

Update to a Formerly Glowing Review…read more This is an update to what was once a glowing review of my beloved Pizzahacker. I've been going for many, many years (close to 10--or more?), so it pains me to say that some changes under new management have shifted the experience for me. Jeff Krupman, the founder and chef (who ended up being a friend!) sold the business to one of his longtime employees a year ago or more ago. (He still owns the Mill Valley location). While they tried to keep a lot of things the same h feel noticeably different. It's interesting that it still shows his name as manager. Here's what I've noticed--not in a good way: The menu now feels overwhelmingly meat-forward, with a dearth of thoughtfully designed vegetarian pizzas. I have mentioned this to Jesse (longtime staff) and a female server, asking them to pass this along. Each pizza also seems to have several more ounces of (still very delicious sourdough) dough. The crust is significantly thicker, and there's simply more of it. What once felt light and beautifully balanced now feels heavier. Vegetarian options are largely reduced to subtraction of meat . I've spoken with longtime waitstaff (including Jesse) and asked that this feedback be shared with Juan, the new owner. One server suggested I could just order a pizza without the meat. But a thoughtfully composed vegetarian pizza is very different from a meat pizza with ingredients removed--and at $24, paying full price for a pizza minus its main topping feels unfair. Perhaps there could be a cheaper option availabile for meaty pizzas without the meat. Please consider making The Summer Fave year round, bringing back the Inside Out, and/or creating more pizzas that don't center around multiple meats. Also, I know that the new management has changed some of the ingredients that made their pizzas so special and delicious. In particular, the sausage on the Yo Vinny, which used to be house made is now closer to the generic sausage you'd find at Pizza Hut. Loses so much of the experience to change to these cheaper ingredients. (I lean vegetarian as much as possible but make occasional exceptions, so I know this!) I used to go to Pizzahacker weekly and look forward to it with genuine excitement. Now, while I still enjoy the occasional pizza, that sense of anticipation is gone. I do want to say I'm grateful that my beloved Intermezzo salad remains unchanged--and I still care deeply about this place. I love PH--please consider the earnest pleas of a longtime customer who has eaten there many dozens of times.
