FAST FOOD: I ordered the Celeriac with Forest Mushroom soup which was amazing. While I waited for it to cool down I ate the crostini which had some kind of tapenade. The waitress seems to think the base is made from the bottom part of the celery stalk, but had a pea soup kind of taste with a chicken broth. The forest mushrooms also were amazing. We also had the Reuben and the Caprese sandwiches, both were great, the Caprese could have used maybe a little more pesto sauce or balsamic. Atmosphere: great restaurant, there's a patio but it was cold so we sat inside, they have a beautiful bar and you can see the chef cooking away. Music playing in the background. Service: Excellent, the two young girls and young men were taking care of all the tables and cooking. Tip: Try the soup.

The dishes are a hit or miss, but overall it was delicious and the restaurant has a classy ambiance. I would definitely come back for the lobster! Food: 4/5 Appetizers: potato fritter with goat cheese, veal cheek salad Both of these were very tasty! I especially loved the presentation on these appetizers, it was worthy of Masterchef. I especially loved the potato fritter with goat cheese, it was like tater tots and fried cheese, YUM! Main: surf & turf, cod I have to say that the lobster was the star of the meal, it was delicious and juicy. It is really good lobster and I would go back for it. Dessert: triffel, creme brulee Both desserts were standard in taste, but the triffel was amazing in terms of presentation. It was more like chocolate cake with pineapple but it was presented as a potted flower. It looked amazing, and was tasty. Service: 5/5 The staff is extremely hospitable and meets my "American" standards. He was friendly and very willing to answer any questions we had. You can make reservations online, but it wasn't that busy when we went. Atmosphere: 5/5 This restaurant is tucked in a side street and therefore, doesn't get as much foot traffic but it has excellent decor and is lit in that dim romantic light. It is a great place for a date or anyone that you need to impress. Value: 3/5 They offer a 3 course menu which offers a slight discount, but this is definitely a more expensive meal. We paid about 60 euros/person for our meal + drinks. However, that lobster is worth every penny!

Having an open kitchen is nice and makes the place unique compared to most other European restaurants I've visited in Amsterdam. I decided to get the surf and turf dish and the food came out pretty quickly. The presentation was great with a nice addition of mashed carrots. Now when it comes to the actual quality of the food, it was very mixed. The steak was excellent and grilled to perfection which I enjoyed immensely. However, the lobster had almost no taste to it at all and even with some salt it was very blend. A huge disappointment for me. For dessert, I ordered the créme brulee but they were out of it. Instead, I got a brownie with caramel sauce which wasn't on the menu. It was good but not excellent. Now for the service, it could have been way better. Our server forgot to bring us water which we asked for and she also forgot to bring us the dessert menu even though we specifically asked for it after we had finished our meals. When we were about to get the bill, she was standing by another table for a good 15 minutes talking to someone who appeared to be a friend. She didn't even look our way. There werent enough servers for this place and she still decided to talk to a friend and ignore her customers. After a while we managed to get a hold of someone else for our bill. Needless to say, we didn't tip at all. This restaurant would have gotten four stars if it wasn't for the bad quality lobster and the terrible service.
