For our third and final meal we split half orders of the wisselende ravioli van holy ravioli (5 good-sized raviolo in a thick bolognese-type sauce), lamsschouder met rozemarijnjus boer steven (a fantastically tender piece of lamb au jus on more root vegetables), and the pork belly special (a large piece on a bed of root vegetables, mushrooms, and asparagus). Dessert was the lemon tart I had been eyeing for a couple of days. Portions were very generous and plenty of food for the two of us to enjoy all the dishes without feeling stuffed. I totally get why, since Bert makes a delicious coffee and is also a very cool guy who is in for a little chat. The good reputation of their Antwerp location also does not hurt at all. Antwerp location? Well yes, Caffènation is a much loved coffeeshop in Antwerp. We are very lucky that Bert fell in serious love with a Dutch girl because that is what brought him here! And now he owns the Caffènation location here in Ansterdam. Cool stuff right? Coffee lovers will really enjoy the big drinks menu at this place which offers a lot of different choices like cappuccino and espresso but also more adventurous drinks like a 'Ginger Spice' or a 'Bitter Moon'. Last few times I went with a flat white (like usual, they are my favorite!) and that tasted great. The space is quite big and has a lot of cosy spots to sit. You can even come over with a group of friends since in the downstairs area are a lot of seats. Great right?! Not so crowded like most city center spots and a way nicer and more personal vibe. I can imagine this place would do great for working or studying as well. Just go soon because i'm sure this place be discovered by the big crowds soon!
