Basically, the exterior is not well maintained and if I didn't know about this place i wouldn't even notice its existence. The interior is very basic and lack of decors. There's usually only one staff member up front. You'd order at the cashier and pay first. The restaurant is quite small and can get busy during peak times. They serve delicious Japanese staples such as hamburger, omelette rice, and also Western options such as waffles and sausages. The portion is good and price is also reasonable. Drinks are also yummy. I had a lavender latte.

As we entered, it's exactly as others have described - very tiny, homely and quaint. We were seated immediately, were given menu's and instructed to order at the front counter when ready. Once we ordered and paid, the food probably took less than 7 minutes to come out - so quite fast. I tried both the Omu Curry Rice with Pork Cutlet and the Omu Hayashi Rice with Nikomi Hamburger Patty. Both looked very home-cooking style dishes, but in a good way that is very different from what you can find in a Japanese restaurant in Vancouver. Flavours were good, the portion sizes were generous and the prices were reasonable. Staff were very friendly. They made sure so thank us before we went out the door. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I liked the food, and always supportive a hard-working family. I'd come back again.

I'll have to come back another time. Came here to try the pineapple bun bubble waffle. Beware a 15 minute prep time. It was fragrant and pretty good without being too sweet. The staff really put their care into making it fresh to order.

The cultural lineage of this place is certainly interesting, since from what I understand, this is…read morethe only Canadian location of an Indian restaurant from Japan. The restaurant is beautiful with both Indian and Japanese design sensibilities. They have a table service restaurant with both high tea and an extensive a la carte menu, and it looks like you can also buy mithai in bulk. The food isn't really Japanese-Indian fusion as you might expect, but more like Japanese impression of Indian food, if that makes sense? There's a few hints of Japanese and Asian influence, but the menu is mostly modern Indian. All vegetarian. There's no vegan or gluten free options for afternoon tea, but the a la carte menu includes many clearly labeled vegan and GF dishes. I wanted to try the afternoon tea set to get a wide sampling of their offerings. The set included: corn spinach puff, paneer tikka slider, cream cheese cucumber sandwich, samosa, chutneys for dipping, manchurian skewers, orange cranberry scone with whipped cream, rose rasmalai cake, dodha crunch, motichoor cheesecake parfait, and the choice between masala chai, coffee, or hot/iced caffe latte. It's $32/person for the set, which is a great price. I also appreciated that it was possible to order the set for just one person since it seems like many teahouses will only do it for 2+ people. I thought all of the items in the set were pretty good, and there was a balance between the sweet and savoury items. The only things that really left anything to be desired were that the scone was a bit dry and crumbly, and I thought the tandoori paneer could have been more flavourful. In general the flavours of the savoury items were a bit more subtle than in typical authentic Indian food, but for the most part it didn't come across as bland to me, just a different take on it. The standouts in the set were: the paneer slider - even if the paneer itself didn't impress, I loved the almost flaky texture of the pav - the manchurian, and the rose rasmalai cake. Also, the cream cheese cucumber sandwich had cilantro or chutney or something in the cream cheese which made it much more interesting than the plain version of this sandwich. The masala chai (my chosen drink) was also very good. It was served in a pot that contained 2 small servings. My waiter was very friendly and stopped by a few times to check in. When I was done eating and wanted my bill, it was easy to get his attention. I visited at what seemed like a quiet time so I didn't have much competition for attention. One thing that I thought was odd was when he gave me the machine to pay, there was no tip option - it would be cool if they had a no-tip policy, but I never saw any mention of it, so I wonder if he accidentally bypassed the tip when putting in my charge. It was an interesting and very pleasant experience. I was so curious about this place that I made a trip out from Vancouver just to try it (and couldn't get anyone willing to go to Surrey for afternoon tea with me, hence the afternoon tea order for one), and it was worth the trip!

The Salt level was still a shade low , though better than earlier. the Naan's , 3 x Curries, Raita were all very good -including the onion-pickle combination. The rice was plain rice & I believe this could be enhanced by offering instead a peas or veg pulao. Also a masala papad would be welcome. Overall -one of the best Thali's in Vancouver & Lower Mainland -well presented in sparkling clean, uniquely shaped Stainless steel plates! My daughter had the croquettes - good, corn cutlets which were average in taste as the sauce was mild & bland. (need a fiery sauce to liven up), Tacos -satisfactory. The kids had Cheese toast which was very plain. Just cheese inside. (A slice of tomato, cucumber would enhance the taste). it came with French Fries which was good. The Restaurant is clean, airy , uncluttered with a nice ambience. Service by Ms.Priya was excellent ! The toilets were kept sparkling clean , well stocked & deserve mention. Overall a good experience & we will return again in the near future. Best wishes to the Management for an excellent feeling of comfort.

Wish there was more injeolmi but still a good bingsu. small size is plenty for 2 to share. Comes with a big scoop of ice cream too. There was little selection though. For around $10, pretty good. 4/5. The bungeoppang was ok. Tasted like premade stuff (maybe frozen?) that was just reheated. Definitely not freshly made. For $3 though, I dont mind. 3/5. I would like to come back to try their kimbap, one of my favourite common Korean foods. Guy behind the counter was nice enough. You order at a kiosk though, they dont take orders at the counter. Thats kind of a bottleneck since theres only 1 kiosk. Its on Lonsdale, you can find street parking. Place is small, has a few tables you can sit at, or just take out. Clean though. tentatively they get 4/5 overall. I'll come back to try some other things.

The interior is pretty dated and bare bones. Staff were very friendly. The mom doesn't really speak English. Had to point and use gestures. But I got my order in. The beef bulgogi was nice and tasty. Basically it's home style cooking, so don't expect anything fancy such as a stone bowl. Basically a pile of beef and a portion of rice, with a side of salad. The walls are decorated with pictures from Europe and the teacups are very "British." Besides scone and tea, you can get regular food here as well such as fries, salt & pepper chicken, and radish cake to name just a few. You can also get cold drinks like juice & bubble tea, and bubble tea drinks here too. So...not your typical British style Afternoon Tea joint. Kind of half restaurant, half tea place. My friend had a pot of Leisure Fresh Fruit tea and a scone. We'd already had lunch a bit earlier and while my friend had room for a scone, I had zero room in my stomach for any food so I just had a pot of Longan Red Date tea. It was a cold day so a pot of hot tea really hit the spot. I thought it a bit pricy at first, but when the tea came, I saw that the teabags were Fortnum & Mason teabags. That is a very a prestigious company from all the way over in England. When I realized we were drinking Fortnum & Mason tea, all of a sudden $10.25 didn't seem so extravagant any more. My friend said her scone seemed like more of a biscuit than a scone. It came with butter and jam. I think she wished there had been some clotted cream to go with it. I can't say too much about the food as I only had one pot of tea but I was impressed that it was Fortnum & Mason tea, and I very much enjoyed the flavor of the Longan & Red Dates in my tea.
