This place was very unpleasant and unwelcoming. Their service was really bad and I felt rushed out of there. I feel as if they favor Filipinos only. My girl friend and I went to have lunch there and they didn't offer us any drinks. As soon as we were done eating our food, the waitress slapped the bill on our table as if we weren't going to get any desert. We didn't want any. The food there is prepared just like an easy home cooked meal which is pretty good but they have cockroaches as I found one on my plate. (Which is why we didn't want dessert) This place is over rated and probably only gets high ratings from other Filipinos that favor Filipinos. I'm not racist to them because many of my friends are Filipino and I always see them favoring each other as if it were like black pride and that's cool and all but at a restaurant I expect better service and no creepy crawlers in my food. read more

can't believe i've never written a review for cafe colma. it's located in Lucky Chances Casino in Colma, California. They're open 24 hours and you can get everything from prime rib to chinese food but i come for the filipino food specifically the kare-kare and the silogs, my favorite of which is the chicken silog - garlic rice, an egg, a slice of tomato and marinated chunks of chicken which are broiled then fried. re: the prices - almost all filipino food here in the states are overpriced, except for superstar. this place is no different but there's a difference in overpaying for food that isn't good and overpaying for good food. this definitely falls under the latter. parking can be a b at times but there's always valet on the 2nd floor. read more

The ice contained in their complimentary water was quite a treat. Hollow center with a thin rectangular shape. My only gripe is the quantity and the rate at which they dissolved. Tried mostly the filipino food which was spot on, best I've had in CA so far. I LOVE that this place is 24/7 and even more so that it's in some tiny casino in the middle of nowhere (mixed with cemeteries). I had the pancit palabok which was some type of noodle dish with lots of sauce and garlic - amaze ballz. The wife had chicken adobo with garlic rice which was spot on and she finished it all. My friends that came with had the tapsilog, beef and pork sausages which they finished completely (first time eating filipino foods). Bravo Cafe Colma. Lucky Chances is the place to go when it's late night and you're coming from the club and you are really craving some Filipino breakfast. This is for all you silog lovers. They also have other good popular Filipino dishes like Chicken Mami on a cold evening or Palabok! Their Palabok is actually REALLY good and pretty close to how my mom makes it =) I've been coming here for years and I've always had good service. They're really great for large groups also. I like going to Cafe Colma. Not as expensive as the restaurant on the other side of the casino - Rene's Fine Dining - and you get to pick and eat whatever you want. They have American breakfast, and rest is Chinese/Filipino food. We usually get seated promptly when we come in after church. Prices are very reasonable. Service.. ehhh - it's hit or miss. Some of the Filipina servers are very nice and friendly. The Chinese ladies (sorry not trying to be mean)... just seems blah - not there to talk - take your order, drop your food - and they're off! Don't even expect them to smile - they don't seem to have time. :) But all in all... it's ok. I like going there because sometimes, i don't want Asian food after church. This way, my dad gets what he wants (usually some Filipino combo meal), my mom usually gets some healthy veggie chinese dish, and I - well depending on my mood - may want pancakes, corned beef hash eggs, or... i used to be a loyal customer of the cafe in lucky chances casino until lately. The food portions are getting smaller and the prices never seem to stop rising. When are we going to realize that paying $11 for some filipino breakfast food that you can cook yourself is a rip off. Tonight was the last night that i will ever dine in this place. It was such a horrible experience that i didn't know whether to laugh or punch a lady in the face. Our waitress was very rude in the beginning. She poured water for us and said, "Hah. U ready? What do you want?" We gave our order and she returned in a fairly timely fashion. I ordered the comsilog, (bangus and fish). I wondered why i only got half a fish and the waitress clarified that it was the bansilog that i wanted. i said that it was okay, to forget it, and we ate. CRUNCH!! That was the sound that was made when eating the rice. It was either really old rice or uncooked. We tracked down the waitress and she got new rice for us. Then comes the check... I was charged for the bansilog ($12.95) when obviously I received the comsilog ($10.95). So i needed $2.00 deducted from the check. The waitress took a while to come back so i went to the hostesses and asked for a correction. The two ladies looked surprised and didn't really know what to say at first. Then they couldn't comprehend that we were given the comsilog and not the bansilog. My girlfriend suggested that they go ask the waitress and they for some reason decided that they didn't want to. After arguing for 5 minutes and trying to get them to see what we saw, the waitress comes over and doesn't even help our cause at all. I said, "I've been coming here for years and you guys can't even fix a mistake for $2. A mistake that isn't my fault?" I'm no business guru, but I do believe it is in the best interest of a business to lose $2 even if the customer is wrong to save potential $ in the future. And all of the customers who were watching obviously new something was wrong and the problem was not being resolved. How does that make them feel knowing if something is wrong it will not be fixed? I gave up and felt that paying the $2 was worth going home. Then when I was waiting for my change, one hostess gave me the change for another tab!! I thought wow, i got my $2 back until i look down at the receipt and realized that it was another customer's. How unfortunate... So not only was the food crappy and overpriced, but i got the worst customer service if you could even call it that. Instead of trying to take care of a customer they tried to defend themselves to the death and took offense for us trying to get our bill correct. I left not tipping, which basically gave me my $2 back and taking some candy in the dish along with whatever matchbooks could fit in my hand (about 20). If they weren't going to give me my service, then I was going to get it somehow. read more

Over priced, horrible service. The hostess yelled at us and pointed us to our seats from across the room. On top of that it took about 20min to get some service and that is only because we went up to the counter to let them know. The waitresses then started arguing about who's table that belong to. I have this place 3 stars for these reasons: 1- locally convenient 2- their beef with egg over rice was decent 3- I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt If you're in the area late night, it probably isn't that bad since you're probably inebriated & don't care lol other than that, I do not recommend it. read more

This is one of my staple, go to restaurants that always is a good idea. When I'm drunk, I get the chickensilog. When I'm sick, I get the wonton soup. When I'm with my family having Christmas breakfast, I'll get whatever I feel like having. My grandparents come here every Sunday too for breakfast. Big group of family ranging in age from 1 year to 70's and had everyone feeling satisfied. The silogs were popular but also basic burger/fries/potato salad. One person tried to be healthy with chicken ceaser salad and had large portion of chix. Husband got the giant lucky burger but he didn't feel it was giant enough so he finished off my shrimp chow fun with gravy, was delicious. I was eating nilagang baka and pinakbet and the arroz caldo. Also someone liked their chicken adobo. The fried chicken was a winner with kids. Can't forget the halo halo. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated right away, 2 pm on a Saturday. Liked the variety but happy to get Filipino food favs. Server did drop a couple of utensils but overall she was friendly and attentive. Plan to return again with the family. read more

I think their Longsilog is pretty good here...quickly made and the garlic fried rice usually is better then Ong Pin. I've generally lived with the philosophy that nothing good comes out of a casino. Sure a 5-star show or a great buffet might attract you to a casino in Vegas but we made the mistake of having lunch at Cafe Colma, the hotspot within Lucky Chances. We got seated quickly enough and there were plenty of Asian families eating on this Sunday afternoon but the rest of the experience went downhill quickly. First off, the prices seemed high for a greasy spoon joint. $9 for a Filipino breakfast or a grilled sandwich? Since when did greasy Asian food prices jump up? Maybe they're targeting the high rollers at the casino's poker tables or the hungry post-club eater but not me. As other Yelpers have remarked the service is pretty hit or miss. On this day we totally missed. A tuna melt that we had ordered went missing for close to 12 minutes before we canceled it. The waitress came by dismissively the first time-- "they're still working on it". The second time when she told us that it was very busy (of course, two of us had already finished our dishes) we told her to forget the melt. Thanks to my future sis in law...I'm sooo addicted to sinigang and mango halo halo. Sinigang is a tangy Filipino tamarind base soup with ribs, veggies, and a side of rice. It's soooo good. Halo halo is a Filipino dessert. I'm not sure what's exactly in a halo halo. It's made up of lots of different jellies, sweet milk and topped off with a scoop of ice cream (I prefer mango ice cream). YUM!! ! This place definitely curbs all your cravings. They serve all kinds of food here.... American, Chinese, Filipino, and Vietnamese. The staff here is always friendly. I'll be back for sure! I used to go here alot as denny's replacement back when I lived on the peninsula. A lot has changed since then, namely the prices. I think they are double what they used to be when this place first open. No more 6 dollar plates here. Food is the same, portions are the same, service is the same. cafe colma's the bomb! i've had pancit palabok at MANY places, but their version remind is just like my mom's. it takes A LOT to say this, but it's probably better! i once went and ordered the chicsilog (chicken with a tocino flavor) and wasn't impressed. their soup is also really good. where else can you get honest, to good filipino food at midnight? this place is open 24/7! they also serve chinese, american and vietnamese food too, although their vietnamese menu is pretty much limited to pho. their breakfast menu is also really good too! it's gotten even easier to get to since in the past year, a huge parking lot across the street opened up. as often as i go there, i still haven't tried their halo-halo - but that will soon change. read more

Yes, I indeed felt lucky this fine Sunday morning. And a little hungry, too. Driving through one of my favorite cities in the world, Colma, I just had to stop at the Casino aptly named "Lucky Chances" for some breakfast. Service was indeed quick and efficient. I dined on the ham and cheese omelette, wheat toast, and coffee. I must say that since the coffee wasn't that great, the service of it was very fast. And refills kept coming timely. This beats Denny's any day of the week. Melba, the server at the counter, was quick to check up on me throughout the meal. No, sorry, I did not play in the Hold 'em tournament, but my stomach lucked out on this winner in Deadsville. I will be coming back here alive soon. read more

Took my friend there who wanted corned beef and hash. He said it was really salty. The service was really bad. We saw the cook leave and clocked out - he looked tired after a long wait for our meal. My food tocilog was underpar for this place. Later my friend was really sick with diarea. We told the waitress - No cheese was in the eggs as he asked for and guess what = no butter for the toast. However the coffee was very good. Just a bad day for anyone who wanted to eat here. read more

They have really great service and the food takes a short time to be prepared. However, the pace for the food to prepare might have badly impacted the quality of the food. The silogs are not great. I would recommend going to Tselogs if you're craving for rice breakfasts. read more

This place is not that great when you eat sober but it's better when your are pretty wasted. A lot of people of the Filipino descent go over here after their night at the club and chow down on some various dishes ranging from Filipino breakfast to soup. It can get pretty crowded around two or three in the morning so if you want to beat to crowd go earlier or simply take it to go. I would have gave it two stars but the help of their bathroom amenities when I was crazy drunk one year released the liquor that was in my system and thus thank Lucky Chances for getting out of their barely alive by giving them an extra star =) read more

I was quite surprised to find myself here. I am not a gambler, though I really enjoy watching others play. However, I came to this casino not for poker, but for lunch. The Filipino food here is the best in the bay, is what I was told. They have a pretty extensive menu- American, Chinese, Korean, Filipino. I had noodles with shrimp and vegetables. I didn't care for the flavor of the shrimp (maybe because it didn't have enough seasoning?), but I did like the sauce, veggies, and noodles. The garlic rice is delicious... addicting, really. I wish I was hungrier- I would have ordered more. So, if you want really good Filipino food, this is the place to be. read more

Great concept. A 24 hour menu of American, Chinese, and Filipino food. A great alternative to Denny's. Don't let the name Cafe Colma fool you. It's in a Casino, so if you want a double Black Label with your Tosilog, you can have it! I may have tried most of the menu and the food is ok. I think the coffee is nasty. But it's all good in the middle of the night, right? Service is always fast and good. I'm glad this place exists. read more
