Breakfast served 24/7! I love breakfast! Nothing beats a good 'ol plate of eggs and hash browns. However, some garlic fried rice and eggs is a pretty close match. This place has both American and Filipino breakfast items. I usually come here after rehearsal with my band mates, and I usually go with a Filipino breakfast. The garlic fried rice is so freakin good, and it tastes better with some ketchup. Yes, ketchup. Order any one of the -silog plates, and you will leave satisfied. The service is great too. You get attended to pretty quickly, and the food comes out pretty fast as well. Only drawback is that it's in a casino. A not so aesthetic casino where parking sucks, makes you pay commission on every single hand, and is full of dirty Asians. I'm Asian, and even I'm disgusted. Late night food so can't be too picky but the food was good. The waitress was nice and served us promptly. I ordered the Longsilog and it was good =) I came with 2 eggs, rice and tomatoes. My cousins wanted cheese fries and the waitress said they couldn't do it. But then she came back and said they would be able to for 50 cents extra. A family favorite and late night greasy spoon hangout. The cafe is open 24hrs and you can order your favorite dishes any time. The food is good, and hot and the service is proportionate to the type of establishment. If you want a waiter/waitress theyre usually quite attentive but if not a polite wave usually gets their attention. I enjoy coming here when I feel like having some traditional comfort food at a good price and to remember my dad as this was one of his favorite lunch spots. My daughter belongs to this dance group that had a show in San Francisco that we were at pretty much all day. We had a big group coming so they recommended that we pre-order and pay ahead of time for our food so we wouldn't have to wait too long when we got there. They said our food would be ready by 6:30pm. Bad idea!!!!! NEVER EVER PRE-ORDER!!!! We got there about 6:15pm. Waited. Waited. Waited....... 6:30 still no food. A few families that was with us did not pre-order and ended up ordering their food when they got there. They got their food before us!!! And they got way better service then the people that pre-ordered. They were catered to more than us! I guess that's what happens when you give them a tip ahead of time!!! Finally about 6:45'ish they started coming out with our food. And it was cold!!! And I can tell it had me sitting in the back for awhile!!!! Great place for some Pilipino breakfast after a late night of partying. The food is good, but service late night can be a little slow because they're short staffed. Its a little pricey for what you get. I know its cheaper getting the same thing at other Pilipino restaurants (ie. Definite hot spot at 2am after a night out (esp after getting drunk). It gets pretty crowded though since all the Filipino club goers end up here. It's also a good choice if you're ever around here during the daytime or on weekdays. Parking lots are usually full, but at least valet is free. I always get the filipino breakfast and it's almost always tosilog. And the halo halo is pretty good too. Minus one star though for raising their prices. I first started coming here (inebriated) after clubbing in SF when I first became "of age." Upon my first visit, it immediately became my favorite place to get any sort of Filipino food. Actually, this is probably the ONLY Filipino restaurant I will willingly go to. At first, the only items I ordered were the Filipino breakfast plates. These consist of some sort of meat (cured pork, pork sausages, marinated beef, or deep-fried milkfish) served with garlic fried rice, eggs in any style, tomato slices, and a vinegar dipping sauce. I've had all the different meats and they are all GREAT. I always get the eggs over easy with it. Eventually, I tried some of the typical Filipino dishes, like the kare-kare and the pork/chicken adobo. These are both dishes that I prefer prepared by my mom but the ones they serve here I will eat with no questions asked. It's definitely prepared in a different style than how mom makes it but it's good in its own right. When I was younger and had a larger appetite, I would always finish the meal with the halo-halo with mango ice cream. If you don't know what this is, it's a dessert consisting of shaved ice, a variety of sweet toppings, served with milk and a scoop of ice cream on top. Sometimes I would come out here with friends JUST to order this and jet. They're open for like 23 hours a day. Yes, if my memory serves me correctly, they are closed for like an hour (6am-7am or something like that.) They serve everything on their menu at any time of the day, I believe, and their menu consists not only of Filipino food, but also some American, Chinese, and select Vietnamese dishes. read more

It has officially become a tradition - Stop by cafe Colma whenever you're out drinking in the city and craving a silog dish at 2am. Secret tip #1- come at 1:30 and you'll get your table for 8 way quicker! Secret tip #2 - they make a sisigsilog! (Say that 3 times fast). Who can resist chopped pork with a runny egg all served with some garlic rice. Secret tip #3 - chicken mami and siopao doesn't really take 15 minutes no matter what the waitress tells you... (it probably takes 10). Secret tip #4 - come early the next morning after a night of drinking (when you're sober) and the service AND food is quite a bit better. only downside - I also realize that this place is surrounded by cemeteries. Yikes. I also enjoyed their chicken tocino - a generous portion of sweet boneless chicken (pan fried to a crisp) with 2 poached eggs and wheat toast to dip in the runny yolks. Cafe Colma is located within the Lucky Chances casino. Quite interesting to walk through folks religiously gambling and smoking cigarettes; into a diner like restaurant that serves Filipino American food. I'm from Philly so this is a sight I'll never find anywhere but Cali. Their menu serves a large variety of Flip, American, and Flip Americanized/ westernized food. I ordered the Chicken Adobe. For someone who is not super familiar with Filipino food; I really enjoyed my meal. It's a mixture between Latino/ Asian food. Portions were big; and I was able to take leftovers home with me. My friend got a "diner like asian mixed western stype plate" - rice, bacon and an over easy egg - very similar to other Asian mixed with Western (kinda) fast food plates I've had. I also tried their Flip style Spaghetti for the first time, it was sweeter, sauce was different, it was surprisingly tasty - so definitely worth a try! The only thing is I'm Asian, and you know how we Asians look young (meaning I'll be a MILF when I'm 60). Anyway, as soon as I walked into the casino to get to the restaurant, I was attacked by all sides to get my ID checked because people thought I was underage. aka Lucky Chances. Yea, I didn't even know it was called "Cafe Colma" until I checked in on Yelp. The food is solid. Whatchu want??? Silog? Got it! Sinigang? Sure! Arroz caldo? Of course! Crispy pata? Ok! They have a good variety of traditional filipino dishes to choose from, along with some Chinese dishes, as well. The food hits the spot and the wait staff is awesome about refilling waters :) And when you ask for over-easy eggs, that's exactly what you get! (I hate it when my over-easy turns into over-med/hard). The key is TIMING. It's open 24/7 so you can come in whenever you want. It's "crackin" at 2-3am on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights though because apparently, it's the thing to do after a night of drinking and partying in the city. If you come around that time, be prepared to waaaaait. If I had to choose between waiting an hour to eat at Lucky Chances, er, Cafe Colma, or grab 2 tacos from Jack-in-the-crack at 2am, you had best believe I'm going with the 2 tacos, lol. read more

This restaurant was my first exposure to Filipino food. Following the advice of my friend, I ordered the Chopsilog, which consisted of pork chops, garlic rice, two eggs, and a vinegary-side sauce. Nothing can beat eggs, rice, and meat! However, I found the eggs and rice to be quite bland; aside from the garlic, there is no seasoning. The pork chop, on the other hand, was extremely flavorful although a tad bit dry. The meal was very hearty and the combination of the vinegar sauce with all of the elements on the plate (as well as a healthy serving of tabasco sauce) made the meal a lot less bland. This was definitely the comfort food that one can go to over and over again! My friend and I also shared a halo-halo, which consists of mixed fruits and jelly at the bottom, a layer of shaved ice, and ice cream on top. It was messy to eat because the halo-halo comes in a large glass, but so delicious that I could not help digging repeatedly to the bottom of the glass to scoop up those little bits of irresistible dried coconut pieces. The halo-halo comes with a choice of two ice cream flavors: ube (taro) or mango. We had the one with ube ice-cream...not only is it gorgeous to look at because of the purple color, it is delicious! The milkiness, combined with the ice cream, ice, and fruit - this is definitely the perfect dessert! My friend also told me that this is the best Filipino restaurant that he's been to so far in the Bay Area! Overall, I've definitely had better quality food, but for comfort food in a diner-ish setting and in a Chinese casino (!!!), Cafe Colma cannot be beat. read more

What can I say...? ...it's the spot for late night eats! It's literally where the after party's at because it's 24/7. People come here to 1) sober up and get their grub on (mainly the Filipino food) and 2) hook up with their other friends. The food really is good, tasty and inexpensive. My girls and I would come here a lot after the clubs. Some of the better/popular dishes include: Silogs (Filipino Breakfast: Longanisa, Tapa, Tocino and Spam with garlic rice and eggs) Kare Kare (Oxtail in a peanut butter sauce) Sinigang (Sour pork soup) Steamed Fish They have tons of other items on their menu but we always managed to get the same dishes because it's just that good. NOTE: It's been awhile since I've been there but I imagine that place still brings in the younger hip crowd, party goers and hard core gamblers. If I'm ever too lazy to cook, I'll sometimes come here. So far I've tried the arroz caldo and the corned beef silog. Both are good, but a little pricey. Service on the other hand isn't that great especially when your waiting for a seat, but no on notices you until you've been standing there awkwardly for a few minutes. Again, going along with the price issue, I came here after a morning run and waited for my friends to meet me there. Its a go to place to get a late night meal. I usually get the tosilog or the Mongolian beef over rice. but if you're "young", DO NOT expect any good service. When I come here with my dad, they're constantly checking up on our cups and to see if everything is "doing okay". BUT it never fails that when I come here with friends, all they do is take our order, give us our food, and then our bill. I ate here tonight with my boyfriend. It's a Tuesday night and it's not busy at all. FIRST. the lady at the register gives me a blank stare. No "hello" when i smile at her. THEN she hands a busser the menus who says nothing, walks to our table, sets it down and walks away. NEXT. our server sets down our water, takes our order, gives us our order, walks away and NEVER returns. ALTHOUGH! she is constantly checking and refilling the cups of the two tables directly behind us. And if not, she was sitting on the side chatting with her coworkers. Not once did she come to check on us, refill our waters, or even to give us our check! We became so irritated we walked up to the register and asked for it so we can leave asap. Part I Decided to swing by since I was in the area. Not that Filipino breakfast is anything new to me, but the chance to relive drunken late night-early revelry was too hard to resist. That's how I found myself after exiting 280 to Colma where more people reside below the ground than above it. Strange that you would find a casino there where I'm pretty sure its a violation of feng shui. No matter as the poker tables are probably calling upon the ancestors on how to play the next hand. My initial trepidation of not finding parking around six on a Saturday evening was quickly dashed when coming upon not one, but two (2!) separate open spaces. Both big enough fit a Yaris each. I managed a better spot after circling the underground parking and dodging one errant driver. So I giddly make way to the elevators and that's when realization (reality) set in. At first glance, everything appears to be the same. But how much can you say about the elevator lobby except that its worn or shall I say, 'well used' and that the elevator itself is taking forever and that the elevator one car over isn't working. Ding I step out of the elevator and it takes me a second to get my bearings. I turn left instead of right and I realize that I'm headed towards the front where Renee's Fine Dining is. Never been and perhaps next time. Albeit I've said that many times before during my SJSU days. So for whatever reason of skipping the obligatory piss, I find my way to Café Colma, totally oblivious to racket coming from the casino and quickly checking the daily specials. For first timers, its probably not what you expect. Instead of the of the usual suspects of western fare, the unitiated will come across such dishes such as 'beef kaderetta...beef ribs with peas, carrots in tomato sauce and liver paste' or 'mami and siopao'. The only familiarity would probably be the prime rib which was going for twenty something that evening. Continuing down memory lane, I grab a menu off the counter for a more detailed review and expectedly notice that it has changed. The Filipino dishes are more up front now but pretty much the same. I don't recollect seeing much of any Viet dishes. Despite the menu, I already know what I want and I see it where I expect it to be. I grab a seat at the counter and see reminants of that prime dinner. A decently size cut of meat with a big gaping hole in the middle. A few peas and carrots left on top of a quickly drying mass of mashed potatoes. Steam still coming from the coffee cup next to it. The check tray with singles and change. My suspicions that it was probably an older gentleman and not Asian and not sure if a regular or not. It was sunset and the light was coming just so through the windows. I look about and like the elevator lobby, the dining room shows the wear of time. Still on the walls are prints of SF landmarks which I must say I like and the familiar faux green leather. The wait staff is older and doing well with keeping up. The corner booth is now a service counter for the wait staff and newest edition is the flatscreen just next to it about one booth over. Another thing I notice are the signs. You know the ad hoc ones off the computer, saying 'no outside food'. The scene is very much different from those late nights and early mornings. The dining room also seemed much bigger back in the day. That's when I noticed the sign saying '90 max'. Definitely not 90 this evening with the wait staff taking a breather when they can. One gentleman a few stools over was hunched over his dinner of whatever he got from the kitchen and what he brought from home. So a nice auntie'ish lady takes my order and sets up the placemat in front of me. The counter is a good place too where I'm facing the kitchen and watching what comes over the slide. Now this is your typical counter, but again, to the unitiated, there are a few things that are different. First the smell. Typically, one would expect that smell of that microwaved roast beef and au. That smell of burgers and fries interspersed with the smell of bacon and eggs and then a whiff of vanilla when the cooler holding the pies open up. Don't forget the coffee. Nope, you won't smell any of those smells here. The smells coming out the kitchen are pretty much what comes over the slide...noodles and rice dishes. Don't get me wrong, there are breakfasts and they do serve the usual western suspects. But the majority breakfasts here are silogs and the tocino one is a favorite of mine. In fact, 'Lucky Chances' is probably one of the few, if not only, places where I will have Filipino Food. read more

I would have given them three stars had I not found a huge fly buried in my noodle dish mid-way through eating it. That just killed the whole experience. The waitress apologized and I ordered something else, but needless to say my appetite was already gone :( Also the pork in the dish had kind of an "old" flavor to it...or maybe it was from fly seasoning. I gave them one extra star because my mom ordered fried chicken and she said it was really good. That and the waitress seemed genuinely sorry about the fly, which makes me think it doesn't happen that often (it's just my luck I guess). Late night food for me and my friends. Can't complain much, right? Though I think that their food isn't really that bad as some of my friend's say it is. I usually get either the beef & thousand year old egg congee or the steak and eggs. The congee is always good. Though the steak is mostly a bit dry and overcooked as I ask for rare. I guess the Chinese and Filipino food is better then the American food. I did try their prime rib once for $14.99 and it was not bad for local casino food! If you ask for something like a glass of water.. it will take them 10 minutes to bring it up to you. They ask for an 18% gratuity for 6+ people for a service that doesn't even deserve one. I should mention before I start that I'm not really a fan of Filipino food, so I mostly come here for the Chinese or American food. Café Colma is located inside of Lucky Chances Casino and is open 24hrs. My family and I have been coming here every so often now, mostly because it's one of the few places that serves breakfast in Colma. We live on the border of Colma and Daly City. They have a parking lot on site, or you can park in the lot across the street. The regular American breakfast items I would say are about equal to a Denny's or IHOP. The plus side is that there's usually no waiting when you come in the morning. The menu is pretty huge because you have your Filipino, American, and Chinese options. Most of the breakfast items aren't too expensive either, but if you want you can even get the prime rib for breakfast. I haven't tried it yet, but I have heard good things about the prime rib here. We'll see someday. I usually get the scrambled eggs with beef over rice and comes with a little bit of oyster sauce. It's not bad at all, as good as some of the places in Chinatown SF. But if you think about it, it's pretty hard to eff up on scrambled eggs and beef. The New York Steak and eggs isn't bad either; just don't expect a gourmet steak. My mom did get food poisoning from the Chinese seafood noodles before. My dad and I did tell her not to order it, but she did anyway. Still hasn't stopped us from coming back every once in a while, but we are careful not to order any of the seafood items anymore. read more
