Listen, I love Chinese food. I love takeout Chinese for so many reasons. 1.) Rice 2.) So easy to eat if you're a vegan and GF (lol hi) 3.) Relatively affordable Cafe Chopstix fits all of this for me. Is it the greatest takeout I've ever had? No. BUT, it's convenient, easy, pretty fast service and satisfies all of my tofu/veggie cravings. I've never actually been inside of this place, I've only called in and picked up my order/had someone stop and pick it up for me, but the people on the phone have always been kind and to the point. Their portions are large and I can always save it for another meal. Very close to where I live as well. Which is great. Overall, I will continue to eat here. It's tasty, very affordable and I think maybe better than other Chinese takeouts. read more

I was looking for a new chinese place to try in the area. My thoughts: Mediocre food and restaurant. I asked for their suggestion of a good beef dish and the lady suggested the Beef Delight (beef with mixed veggies). Meat was subpar and veggies were not exciting. Tasted better when i added the red chili sauce, however. If you're looking for a good Chinese food place come here only if it's near you or you are too lazy to look elsewhere. Okay. So I'm bummed. The reviews were raving. But my tastebuds were not. Tried the triple spicy chicken. I think they missed the whole spice concept. The flavour was lacking too! It was like eating dried out cubed chicken with extra dry rice. Maybe that's what y'all consider "delicious" and "amazing" but then clearly you've never had good or even halfway decent oriental foods. It's a dry dish to start off with, as in there's no sauces involved what so ever, but even then the chicken itself was dried out to the bite. I bit into a piece thinking it'd be moist inside. Boy was I wrong. It was chewy and tasteless. The only flavour I got was from the raw onions on top. Highly disappointed in the food. Only got two starts due to the insanely nice and adorable lady working the counter. She was so sweet I didn't have the heart to tell her k didn't like her recommendation :-/ #myownfail #shouldhavestucktokungpao I will be back to try their Kung Pao as all of you know I'm a sucker for that dish anywhere. The food is probably two stars. It's like a typical Chinese-American place. The hot and sour soup is not sour enough for an Asian. The triple spicy chicken was pretty good, but really only mediocre spicy. And the chicken ho-feng (flat rice noodles) had one pepper next to it, but was actually pretty spicy. Normally this is my go to Chinese but today when I visited for in dining eating the restrooms were closed. I dont ever want to be eating somewhere and not have a restroom. I called the health department and they said that they cant close the restrooms for in dining. Also our food was in a to go container and one thing I learned about this place is not to order to go because the portions are smaller when not ordered to eat there. Also, I paid full price for ice tea and a soda and was not allowed refills or a discount on price. I drive from midtown to this place and I cant get seconds on my drink....in that small to go cup. Cafe Chopstix has become a go-to place for us simply because of their Chinese Chicken Salad. Those of you who frequent General Joe's Chopstix will recognize it as a knock-off of the General Joe's Salad but Cafe Chopstix now has the superior salad. Part of it is Joe's going downhill and part of it is subtle differences for which I prefer Cafe's method. The salad is quite simple. Chopped Iceberg lettuce, almond slivers, shredded chicken breast, rice crisps and a tangy special dressing. Combine all these innocuous ingredients and the result is wonderful. It's a great collection of textures and flavor. So what puts this version of the salad over the top? The way the lettuce is cut, the way the almonds are sliced instead of chopped, the perfect tanginess of the dressing, and last but not least, the availability of grated ginger and jalepeno in oil. Joe's doesn't have them anymore, and that's a shame. Mix these into the dressing, and pour it over the salad for a little slice of heaven. read more

Im the biggest fan of Cafe Chopstix! Im a regular, Ive been going to this place back when it was another name in another location since I was like 8 years old. Its very good, very fresh food for a great price, and the restaurant is impecable clean. Her eggrolls are the best in town! A whole meal including soup, eggroll, entree, fried rice and a drink will cost you about 7 bucks, and its as good as chinese restaurants that cost twice as much. I've only been one time with my boyfriend. He's been a couple of other times and felt this place was very acceptable. We got take out and I ordered the lemon chicken and he got general tso. I loved mine. It was the best lemon chicken I have EVER had, and omg it was almost like they put three chicken breasts in there. That one meal made three full meals!! Even my bf got some on my last meal! My bf on the other hand said it was ok, he only got two meals from his and had two not so great nuggets. I ordered Sweet & Sour chicken (they serve sauce on the side which I like). There are no vegetables with the chicken just fried chicken that was tough and had no flavor. This is my favorite Asian restaurant in all of Houston/College Station. They give big portions. The managers special is less than $9 with tax and it includes soup, a big egg roll, drink, and full entree. They use real chicken!! Also my girlfriend forgot her purse one time and the management held on to it until we picked it up. Food is tasty, service is fast, staff is friendly. It was a little crowded when I decided to check this place out. Located in a strip center facing I-10 in the Gessner and Bunker Hill area. You order and pay at the counter then wait for your number to be called to pick up your tray or perfect place for carry out orders. I ordered the Orange chicken plate and an order of hot and sour soup. The soup was a big bowl for under $2 and Orange chicken consisted of lots of large pieces of chicken but some were a little hard. I would suggest they give a little more rice because the portion given wasn't enough to eat with my meal. Friendly staff! read more

They're okay.. I got the sesame chicken with fried rice and wonton soup. I've had better Chinese food at other local food restaurants. The chicken just Tasted very bland and plain. The sesame chicken is the same chicken as the sweet & sour but with the "spicy" sauce and sesame seeds. It's not spicy. I didn't really like it. I just came here because my husband likes it. The food isn't bad. The people who work there are extremely courteous and helpful, and I appreciate that in any retail establishment. This place falls short because they do not serve noodles with their combo plates...you have to order a separate order of lo mein noodles ($7-$8), and if they allowed you to do half rice/half noodles, it wouldn't be enough food to really fill you (or just me?) up. Their sweet and sour pork was very crispy, so I thoroughly enjoyed that. If I was in the area and in the mood for Chinese, I may come back...although it would really be more for the friendly people than for the food. read more

Cafe Chopstix is located close to the HEB on bunker hill. This was the 2nd time a friend and I attempted to get food from here. The first time their was some issue with the phone. So it turned us away to something else . There are about 15+ other places to grab a bit near this restaurant. The 2nd time we called in and wanted to get dumplings but didn't want to wait 45 mins to an hour as it was already getting late so we just got chicken fried rice and got some dumplings at HEB. They said it would take about 15 mins so we were happy about that. When we went inside to order the lady was kind of rude asking us "What you want to order" so we were kind of taken back. We got our food and decided to eat a few bites in the car. The rice had no flavor whatsoever. So maybe you have to get an entree for flavor . On the other side the dumplings we got from HEB were awesome and full of flavor. So I would skip cafe chopstix . read more

Won ton soup, sesame chicken, fried rice, egg roll, and a drink...all for a very reasonable price. The chicken was more like chicken strips than smaller pieces...I was skeptical, but quickly proven wrong. It was some of the best sesame chicken I have ever had. The rest did not disappoint. Came in after the "snow-pocalypse" because I didn't have any food. They were slammed with orders but they handled it really well. The wait was about 40 minutes, so I advice to call ahead for your order instead of ordering there. Nevertheless, they are hard working group! Never disappoints! read more
