This drink tasted like a bubble gum raspado

First time at this joint at I must say I was impressed really cool place to party, chill and just let loose!! Karaoke was going all night so much live entertainment all genres of music every one here was happy , dancing and having a good time we stayed until last call 2 am we drank down let me tell you a friend of my sisters spent $420 pm drinks for us three definitely a night to remember, also parking was amazing there's a lot right out the door , and overall service was a 4 she could of done better personality wise and she did forget our drinks a few times but the place it's self gets a 5 because I had a good time :)

THE famous Cafe Brass Monkey (view the wide range of celebrities on the wall). Glad to have checked it out. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking is tough but there's a parking structure there so you're good. Seating: Plenty of seating from the bar to tables. Room for maybe 50 people; however, it can get pretty busy. Vibes: You're in Koreatown so it's a pretty busy place. Every block or so is a plaza with some eatery, spa, park, or grocery store. Plenty of things to do here however for a public karaoke spot, this is the place. It's always playing music, you can watch sports, listen to down music playing, or enjoy the karaoke performances. Great place to get some songs out of your system or a fun date/group night. FOOD/DRINKS: Malibu + Coke (Recommend) They have food and drinks. I just kept it simple with Malibu and Coke. A good balance of both soda and alcohol. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Pretty friendly people from the MC to the servers. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Great food, music choices, and steady vibes. My time there, people were there for a great time, would love to have more engagement but I guess we get a wide range of audience coming here. I wish they had more karaoke spots but I enjoyed my time here. TIPS: * Tip the DJ and Bartenders! * Karaoke starts at 5pm, it starts picking up around 6:30 so be sure to get your songs in.

Set the bar low and you will be OK. This is a cozy-casual karaoke bar. The crowds are random, it can get packed and some folks are overserved...And you just have to be in the mood for that type of thing. I appreciate the convenient parking lot, make sure to get validation. Sure, there is a two drink requirement...But you're at a bar, weren't you gonna drink anyway? Haven't tried the food, added my name to the list for karaoke, and it took quite a while before we were called. Honestly, good luck with that. Again, if you don't have any particular expectations, you'll be fine. It's a good place for groups.

I just ordered an Old Fashion and Ginger beer. The bar tender made it correctly over here but let's see how it goes down. The first drink is so strong, it's nothing like Caps old fashion. 3 out of 5 stars

BRASS MONKEY Brass Monkey takes me back to my early 20s: memories of being single and going out in big groups lol. The last time I was here was pre-pandemic and I was happy to see it was still open and thriving. My brother came out from Las Vegas and wanted to hang as a family and suggested karaoke. We had been here years before and decided to get the band back together!! There is Free parking with validation and we got there a bit after 7pm and was able to find parking on the first level in the parking structure. I would Definitely recommend making a reservation so you have seating for your group for the evening!! We had reservations for 7pm. It was about 11 of us and the host was accommodating as some got there late ( looking at you late cousins lol). There is a 2 drink minimum per person so be prepared for that! I'm not sure how many waiters or waitresses there were but ours seemed like she was running around the entire night. Sometimes it was hard trying to track her down to order drinks and food. But she was helpful when we were able to get her. We ordered mozzarella sticks which weren't too bad and had a couple drinks and some Patron shots. The cocktails were around $12 each and I feel like they could have been alot stronger. The DJ was good at keeping the songs and music videos going in between people singing their song choices. The karaoke songbook though for song choices definitely needs to be updated. I do believe though the DJ can find a newer song since a heard a couple of them that weren't in the book. Another tip is get there early and put in your song selection early because the later it gets the more likely you won't be singing for a long time. Overall it's loud, fun, and the crowd usually gets you hype whether you can sing or not lol!

I love this place, this has been my "watering hole" for over a year now. The guac and chips are good. The place feels very welcoming, ladies are clean and formal . Everyone is so nice, victor and Elias are amazing , safe and very aware. You can have all the fun you want in peace. Security on Wednesdays, very helpful and nice. Elias, sat us at a table right away with a smile. Can't wait to come back next week.

I tried uploading a few videos but it wouldn't let me. This place is one of a kind, the staff here is friendly and the bartenders are QUICK. They also have the biggest selection of songs you can do! Just make sure you come prepared to tip the KJ if you're there on a weekend because it gets packed! The food is decent for the price and the drinks are pretty cheap compared to most of LA, the ambiance is always fun.

How much are the cocktails? The menu photos don't really say a price?

Pick up a phone and ask.

About how long does is the wait to sing your song on a Friday night (hypothetically, around 9pm)? Will I get a chance to sing my song before closing at 2am?

As with any karaoke joint, the wait varies. Their policy is for people to put in one song at a time, and it seems they go pretty much in the order of receipt. You will definitely get to sing at least one song before closing, but how many you get…

Is this a fun place to go on a Tuesday night?

    Yes!!! It's always fun!! :)

Is this a place where people of all ages can go to or is it 21 and over only?

    21 and up for sure

    Is this a cougar bar?

No. I would not say that. It really is quite an assortment of all types of people of all ages, colors, and personalities.

    Are Tuesday nights decent?

It's more of a local night Tuesday Not to crazy busy but still lots of fun and more chances to karaoke the night away!

Do they show WWE PPV? Do they show other pro-wrestling?

They don't show any PPVs. Sometimes UFC or WWE will be on. They do show regular televised sports games like NBA, NFL and MLB.

What type of music ambiance is there on Friday/Saturday nights? In terms of DJ and being able to dance there aside from doing karaoke? Thanks!

Fri. & Sat. nights are very crowded & tend to get the younger people who're still learning to control their alcohol. In other words, they get way too drunk. Many need it to give them the courage to sing, if that's what you want to call it. It's…

What music do they play on Fridays?

    Karaoke!

Since I moved into the Silver Lake hipsterhood over 15 years ago, the 4100 Bar quickly became my local watering hole of a quasi dive bar. As I liked to say, "I rolled myself down the hill and later climbed my way back up" after a trip to this establishment. Formerly a distinguished dive bar called The Detour (which I also went to back in the day), it was overhauled and reopened under new ownership in 2001. Since then, it has become a staple in the community and celebrated its 25th anniversary as of this review. Although it's felt like I've been here 4100 times, would I continue to visit this corner neighborhood bar!? PURCHASE(S) Arts District Brewing 4100 Blonde Golden Ale Beer 5.00% ABV 16floz Draft ($5.00 HH): Rich amber color, light malty aroma, light body, light grainy malty sweet flavor, smooth finish, and light malty sweet aftertaste. West Coast Negroni ($10.00 HH): An interesting "beertail" that seemingly worked with its relaxing smooth taste; but honestly, I preferred the two separate to fully enjoy both. Arts District Brewing Traction IPA Beer 7.50% ABV 16floz Draft ($9.00): Bright amber color, light hoppy aroma, light body, light hoppy piney flavor, crisp smooth finish, and light hoppy aftertaste. Boilermaker (4100 Blonde) with Vodka Shot ($10.00 HH): I never understood the thought behind a liquor shot served with a beer whether it was done as a shot before or after the beer or dropped in such as the more famous Irish Car Bomb. From a marketing and sales perspective at a bar, it made sense, and maybe it got patrons drunk faster. However, from a taste perspective, it really was a waste of time and neither one or the other offered much as a pair. Boilermaker (4100 Blonde) with Whiskey Shot ($10.00 HH x3): See above. SERVICE Initially met by the front door security who checked IDs, I casually approached the bar and was greeted by a young man who easily and quickly took my orders throughout the time I was there. There wasn't any table service, so please bring your empties back to the bar and order another. Once it was time to close out, it was easy-peasy - cheers! PARKING (Varied: FREE this instance): I simply walked the five minutes from my place. Otherwise, there appeared to be some spots along the main drags of Sunset Blvd., Manzanita St., and all surrounding roads (please read all posted street signs) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A divey ramshackled-like building with a central four-sided bar, booths along all of the walls, two well-known photobooths (b/w 4pc strip $7.00), a pool table, and simply just randomness of decorations inside. Outside, there were several pool tables, a ton of communal wooden benches, and colorful tarps that shielded you from the rain and sun. Inside, minimal natural lighting entered through the windows and doors while a random assortment of electric ceiling and hung lights filled the rest. Out on the patio, there was plenty of natural lighting while a similar electric lights situation was present and the many street lights. I didn't recall seeing any TVs while music from a jukebox played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Why it took me so long to post a review for the 4100 Bar I had no idea, but I'm glad I finally did. They had a decent selection of beers on tap and liquor for cocktails or shots, no served food so bring your own (they also had catering and food trucks at times), the prices were comparable, the vibe was very kick-back, and the service was straightforward. They generally checked all of the boxes I hoped to find in a dive bar. Furry family members were allowed on the outdoor patio (water bowls available), there were Happy Hour specials (Daily until 8pm and MO-TU 10pm-12am), and almost certain nightly entertainment such as trivia, music, and more were available. I found very complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $70.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

My first bar experience in the US, and unfortunately it left a lasting bad impression…read more The security staff were very friendly, we got in without any issues, and we didn't have to wait long in line. The bar itself has a cozy atmosphere, and the photo booths are a great touch. We first ordered drinks from a female bartender who was friendly, professional, and served us quickly. The restrooms were clean and spacious. Having only two stalls for such a busy venue isn't ideal, but it could always be worse. Later, we went back to order another round. An older white bartender wearing glasses started serving us, and while he was preparing our drinks, he was also taking another group's order at the same time. I completely understood that since the bar was very busy. We ordered two Whiskey Sours and one of the bar's signature cucumber cocktails. The Whiskey Sours were served in margarita glasses without ice instead of traditional whiskey glasses. I assumed they had simply run out of the proper glassware because the bar was packed, so we didn't complain. The real problem started when it was time to pay. The bartender placed the payment terminal in front of the other group instead of us, and they accidentally paid for our order. Instead of acknowledging that it was his mistake, he immediately acted as if it was somehow our fault. We tried to resolve the situation calmly and even offered to pay the other group's bill and buy them an extra drink to make up for the price difference (their bill was about $31, while ours was around $45). When it came time for us to pay, I chose not to leave a tip because of the multiple mistakes that had already happened. At that point, the bartender completely lost his temper. In the middle of a packed bar, he raised his voice and started yelling at us, saying it was disrespectful not to tip him. He also complained that we had ordered drinks that weren't on the regular menu and that making them had taken him "so much time." As a bartender myself, I know exactly how long it takes to make a Whiskey Sour, and it's certainly not an unusually time-consuming cocktail. If preparing it had been a problem, he could have simply told us before taking our order. He continued shouting that the bar was extremely busy, called our behavior "disrespectful" and "f***ed up," and finally told us he would never serve us again. We were honestly shocked. This was the first time we've ever experienced someone reacting this aggressively simply because we chose not to leave a tip, especially after such poor service. I've worked in customer service for years, and I always tip when I receive good service. I would have had absolutely no problem leaving a generous tip if our experience had been pleasant. After that confrontation, we no longer felt comfortable staying in the bar, so we left immediately with a very negative impression. Looking back, I wish I had read the reviews beforehand. It seems that many of the negative reviews mention the exact same bartender. A truly disappointing experience.

What makes it a wonderful, unique and very cool bar setup: the divey location, the easy and potentially cozy and awesome celebratory experience because of the intimate 'dive' quality, and the fact that it has karaoke witha great system--you have to be able to reconcile that perhaps some other things won't be perfect. I'm not saying that this is for everyone, and I'm certainly not saying that we can't all have different priorities and tastes when going out. But what I am saying is: if you take this bar and lounge for what it is and roll with the punches a bit, then you will potentially love this place and have a lot of fun. For context, I have been going to bars, lounges, raves, parties, festivals, and everything else for a long time, and what I have learned is: things are sometimes going to take some unexpected or iffy turns. Often, you just have to roll with it as best that you can, and just as often: those iffy turns turn into some of the most memorable and even wonderful experiences. So that is what the Blue Goose Lounge offers: a really cool TRUE LOUNGE experience, with the lighting and cushy seating to prove it, with KARAOKE and a nice sound system, and a with an owner/bartender actually showing his personality instead of just being in service of you (yes, that might rub some people the wrong way, but I think it adds character to an establishment). It's possible that I've been lucky enough to not have had a 'bad' experience here--but it's also possible that I didn't even realize that was the situation. All in all, I've been here 3 times now and each time has been a fun and unique experience thanks to the atmosphere and setting, due to Doug the bartender, the comfortable lounge vibe, and because of the other patrons with a similar mindset. How else would you have a lounge with all of the GOOD things that I've mentioned without some of the idiosyncrasies? I don't know of another place like this for all of its good, and anything else that comes close as a drinking lounge either isn't this laid-back or requires spending a crazy amount of money to have a good time. Here, you get a divey karaoke lounge with genuine character.

When we finally got our beer, I told our server, Noah, that I could pour it myself if that would help. Instead of explaining the situation politely, he responded with attitude and said, "You know I can't serve you guys, right?" I apologized, but then he told us, "Nah, you guys have to leave." This was frustrating after waiting so long just to place an order. We were never rude or disrespectful to the staff, so the interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessary.
