11/6/25 thirasay night This is a nice place, lighting is very low for a karaoke bar. My friends put in their song when we got there . About hour later we put our song in. Then we seen new people walk in and they got to perform before my friends put there request in , mind you we been there for (3) hours now and no one from our group has song. I would have said something, but I figured I was over reacting , until I thought about the girl with the big hair singing and I seen her when she first walked in about hour and half after we been sitting there. Went on a Monday night between 5 & 6 PM awhile back while a friend was in town. Place was pretty dead and a handful of other customers were there. Had the pastrami and also their appetizer platter and it was surprisingly good. The bartender was really kind and the happy hour specials were decent. The place has this weird ski lodge look that's a bit rustic with celebrity autographs on the wall. Was able to have a nice meal with my friend and chat since no one had the guts to break the first song. Went there on a Tuesday night to sing some songs with my special man friend for his birthday. The place was basically empty-- one table of recent graduates, a few regulars at the bar watching the game. Perfect karaoke conditions-- and it would've been had the DJ guy not been looking at his phone the entire time. Dude was on some kind of power trip where he'd just let full songs play in between calling a name up to sing their song. You can only submit one song at a time-- fair enough-- but we waited a full hour and never got called up. I'm telling you, there was a total of about 15 people in the entire place. He was either too busy texting & couldn't care less about the patrons waiting to sing, or really milking his "authoritarian power" (he's a karaoke dj in k town). When I asked if he would call my name soon he said, quite rudely, "I'll call your name when it's your turn." I felt like I was being reprimanded by a teacher. We left after that. My only regret was tipping him $5. What sucks is that this place otherwise rules and I would hate to see their business suffer. The food was awesome and where in LA can you find a cheeseburger for $10?!?!?! It was the perfect place for a casual lunch and had a great vibe. Service was out of this world! If you go on the weekends, especially around the holidays, the tables will most likely be reserved but there is bar seating (first come, first serve). The drinks are strong, albeit a bit pricey, and the bartenders are attentive. I have not tried the food but it looks like decent bar food, plus there is a parking lot which is always helpful in Koreatown. Depending on the day and time you go, this place can get really loud. Room for maybe 50 people; however, it can get pretty busy. Vibes: You're in Koreatown so it's a pretty busy place. Every block or so is a plaza with some eatery, spa, park, or grocery store. Plenty of things to do here however for a public karaoke spot, this is the place. It's always playing music, you can watch sports, listen to down music playing, or enjoy the karaoke performances. Great place to get some songs out of your system or a fun date/group night. FOOD/DRINKS: Malibu + Coke (Recommend) They have food and drinks. I just kept it simple with Malibu and Coke. A good balance of both soda and alcohol. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Pretty friendly people from the MC to the servers. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Great food, music choices, and steady vibes. My time there, people were there for a great time, would love to have more engagement but I guess we get a wide range of audience coming here. The crowds are random, it can get packed and some folks are overserved...And you just have to be in the mood for that type of thing. I appreciate the convenient parking lot, make sure to get validation. Sure, there is a two drink requirement...But you're at a bar, weren't you gonna drink anyway? Haven't tried the food, added my name to the list for karaoke, and it took quite a while before we were called. Honestly, good luck with that. BRASS MONKEY Brass Monkey takes me back to my early 20s: memories of being single and going out in big groups lol. The last time I was here was pre-pandemic and I was happy to see it was still open and thriving. My brother came out from Las Vegas and wanted to hang as a family and suggested karaoke. We had been here years before and decided to get the band back together!! There is Free parking with validation and we got there a bit after 7pm and was able to find parking on the first level in the parking structure. I would Definitely recommend making a reservation so you have seating for your group for the evening!! We had reservations for 7pm. It was about 11 of us and the host was accommodating as some got there late ( looking at you late cousins lol). There is a 2 drink minimum per person so be prepared for that! I'm not sure how many waiters or waitresses there were but ours seemed like she was running around the entire night. Sometimes it was hard trying to track her down to order drinks and food. But she was helpful when we were able to get her. We ordered mozzarella sticks which weren't too bad and had a couple drinks and some Patron shots. The cocktails were around $12 each and I feel like they could have been alot stronger. The DJ was good at keeping the songs and music videos going in between people singing their song choices. The karaoke songbook though for song choices definitely needs to be updated. I do believe though the DJ can find a newer song since a heard a couple of them that weren't in the book. Another tip is get there early and put in your song selection early because the later it gets the more likely you won't be singing for a long time. We were in koreatown running errands and wanted to eat somewhere new and we came to Brass Monkey. We entered and weren't greeted. We looked around in this dim place and we asked the bartender if we order food through him and he asked, "Oh you want to order food?" "Yes", we said. The hot wings were good but you get a better bang for your buck with the hot sting chicken and fries entrée which was also very tasty & it came with coleslaw which I typically do not like, but there's was very good. I will say the space can get pretty crowded and rowdy in there as the night goes on and it's sometimes hard to track down a waiter. I've lived in LA for 7 years and FINALLY went to Brass Monkey! If you only go once, you have to go! It's for sure a unique spot and just about every celebrity has gone here (take a look at all the framed pictures when you go inside). Their drinks are alright (really strong - probably what you need for karaoke! Haha), everyone is having a great time and there's probably not a song out there that they can't get their hands on. Got to see some fights out in the parking lot so that was a nice bonus, haha. All in all if you're looking for an "LA experience", give this place a try! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! It's my favorite karaoke spot! It's a bar specifically for karaoke and not just a bar that has a karaoke night so everyday is a blast! Once the night really gets going and crowded with a bunch of tipsy/drunk people it gets even better. Everyone is having a good time singing along to the hits. It's also a decent place to meet people because people seem to be more chatty in a place like this. One of the waiters gave us shots of fireball which was nice! The food is pretty decent especially if you're drunk or tipsy. You can tell some of its just frozen food items they deep fry or churn up some how real quick but it gets the job done and it's not expensive so it's worth the price. I've been going here on and off for about 6 or 7 years now and it's always a blast! Now the reason I took off two stars was because we had a little mishap. My friends and I got here somewhat early, there was only maybe 2 or 3 other groups there. So about halfway through our visit when it's now pretty packed the waitress told us that the table we were sitting at was actually reserved and we had to get up. Mind you by this time it's getting busy so there are NO OTHER TABLES AVAILABLE. The issue I had was she tried to lie and cover her tracks by saying she told us the table was reserved when we got there and that just was not the case. When we walked in all she said was "you can sit anywhere". Now maybe she was thinking we weren't going to be there long so by the time the table was needed we'd be gone? I'm not sure. But she definitely did not tell us. Otherwise we would've certainly sat somewhere else. We had a friend who wasn't coming until 11pm so we knew we'd be there for a bit. She also tried to play it off by saying there was a placeholder that says "reserved" on the table and there in fact was but that's on almost all the tables so again if that were the case it would've been nice if she were direct and clear with us from the beginning to let us know which tables were already reserved. Instead she said we could sit anywhere. My other issue is that a party of 2 was also sitting next to us on the table that was reserved. So when they asked us to move I asked the waitress multiple times if the other two were part of this reserved party or not? Because if not then they should also be asked to move. She didn't answer me and seemed like she was avoiding the question until I asked her the last time and she replied "yes they are"...come to find out they were not! They were just going to accommodate them by adding chairs at the end of the table for the party. NOT COOL AT ALL! So my friend actually made the staff tell them and I agree. We were paying customers just like they were and yet they somehow had the privelege to stay? They also tried telling us there was a 3 hour limit for each table. Which clearly was a lie or a rule they don't consistently enforce because they ended up moving the other party who was maybe only there for an hour or so and again I've been here plenty of times with large and small groups for hours on end and we've never had this issue! It seems like they just have reservation placards on almost all the tables and although they will let people sit there they also use that to be able to kick people out of tables if they need them for larger parties. Larger parties means more money so that makes sense but that doesn't mean you treat the parties of 2-4 like rag dolls to be tossed about. There were other tables that had these reserved signs but again they were letting people sit there who hadn't actually reserved anything so I'm thinking since we were already there for some time they thought we would be best to move. Mind you we were still ordering food and drinks so it's not like we were holding her table without providing service. Honestly I want to give this place 1 star now because I don't play when it comes to customer service. I've been in that industry for over a decade so I know how it goes and they didn't do this right. All that to say I do love this place, it's always so much fun every time I go so I don't want that to deter people which is why I'm still giving 3 stars, it's worth all five besides this incident. The benefit of the doubt is that the waitress maybe assumed we would be there for a little bit since we got there early and maybe they didn't have a reservation yet or maybe she was just to timid to say it outright. Next time I hope they inform people right away and make it clear. If there really is a 3 hour limit for a table MAKE IT CLEAR, if a table is already reserved at a certain time MAKE IT CLEAR. That's all I ask. Because wether she was telling the truth or not, what's for certain is it was not handled properly. Luckily the rest of the staff was great and we had no other issues. I say definitely go if you want a fun karaoke night! But make sure to check out the tables and ask if it's reserved right away especially if you're a smaller group. read more

This place is a really good time! I came with my boyfriend because we wanted something fun and different. The vibe here was great. Karaoke with strangers is something I'll continue to do. The drinks are great- divey bar drinks. It felt like they were understaffed maybe? Cause I tried to get water for what felt like 20 minutes and I couldn't get a bartender to come ask what I needed. One of the worst karaoke experiences, that I have unfortunately experienced twice. Table service for some reason means drinks are more expensive than if you went up to the bar. First time I went, I know I was over charged. Second time, I made a point to pay attention to my tab. $8/modelo bottle We spent hours waiting for our group to sing while a bunch of other singers were either too loud or too quiet. On top of that, there was a group there allowed to sing into the mic while the karaoke DJ played SEVERAL songs in between. There is no point in having the dirty karaoke books because this DJ is just playing songs from YouTube. Any ways, DJ ended up clearing out the place because of his mid taste in music. Plays a lot of trashy songs with odd selections of out of order karaoke songs. I generally tip the karaoke DJ but why would I tip someone who is so clearly being sleezy to women and somehow only lets his friends sing their song selections and keep performing after they sing. He literally let someone scream a song at the highest volume. I had to go outside because I value my hearing as a musician. I have one word for this entire experience: CRINGE. Long story short, I put in a song at 10:30, vibes were so bad that the place cleared out by 12:30. And apparently I didn't get called until 1am as my friends texted me. But by then my eardrums were already ringing and I was in bed. Will never go back. Go to other amazing bars that have delicious cocktails, great taste in music and an actual system for karaoke. Came in on a Thursday night and the card was pretty wild. There is a minimum of two drinks per person, though. However, I think it's pretty durable especially if you're going with a bunch of friends! The crowd was so fun and was just singing 90s R&B. You're able to submit a ticket and request a song then when it's your time - you and your friends can go up and found entire bar and sing! This is the spot for kareoke in LA. They have kareoke EVERY DAY from 5:30 ish - 2AM - if you want to sing with friends reccomend getting there earlier, by 7 or 8 it is PACKED and cue is insane - but that's a fun time too. Dj's are really nice, PLEASE TIP THEM. Sometimes they'll get on the mic too and everyone starts dancing on the floor. One of my happy places. read more
