What can you can about how awesome this restaurant is? It starts with a warm inviting atmosphere and very attentive staff. The concept of the restaurant is Mediterranean, or better put, great foods from the countries that touch the Mediterranean Sea. We had the baked brie for an appetizer and it was great. The owner came over and checked on us and consulted on our dinner choices. I had the North African Couscous, and my wife opted for the Lamb Shank. We enjoyed our salad course of Persian Salad and a Caprese Salad. When the entrees arrived, we couldn't have been more pleased. My wife's lamb shank fell of the bone withers and tasted wonderful. The North African couscous was spectacular. The owner informed me it was a Moroccan dish. We finished dinner with some grappa and a flourless chocolate cake. This is a definite keeper in the list of places to go! read more

My server was amazing, I had never been here before but had seen the reviews and was dying to try this place out, plus the pictures were amazing! They food was as good as the reviews and pictures stated!! It was amazing we had the eggs that were on top of english muffins with a creamy sauce that was full of shrimp and crab meat and a piece of steak! It was to die for! It also came with a side of fresh fruit, grits or hashbrowns. Don't get the grits, they are super bland, save yourself the trouble and get the hashbrowns or fruit. read more

Really like this place. Delicious food and great atmosphere. Our waiter was a young man with manners and professionalism. The manager checked on us. It clearly shows that he cares about his restaurant and his customer. Can't wait to get back! read more

Delicious food, wine, and cappuccino! I recommend the chilean sea bass. First time here and the staff is gracious and accommodating. I cannot wait to come back! Going to try the brunch next. The only complaint I have is that it is not closer to my home in Cypress! read more

Service was very attentive. My utensil were parallel for less than 30 seconds before the plates were cleared... nice to see that level of attention to detail. Food was good, just wished the bread/butter was elevated (missed an opportunity). Quiet feel. Bar looked cool. Staff was very nice/polite. read more

Good food and a lot of excitement in the restaurant. Service was a little slow but they were packed door to door. The biggest concern was that our waiter did knot know the menu items. Definitely worth giving a second chance due to how goid the food was when we finally got it. read more

Great restaurant, I love both the food and service. It's a hidden gems in Houston. Hope more people know about them

Nice place to have a quiet dinner. Older crowd on weekends and that's not a bad thing. Food is good and attentive service.

I lovedddd the French toast!! The mini French toasts drenched in non-heavy syrup!! It was food galore. Totally jealous of my girlfriend that ended up getting that. I forgot to mention they start you off with a homemade jelly Which I loved so freaking much!! I got the potato egg quiche thing and wasn't entirely fond of it because it was full of bulky potato and bland. Needed salt and I don't even enjoy salt in a lot of my food. Loved the atmosphere. Pianist was talented. He went around asking if we had any suggestions. Great experience here. Ps. It seems fancy here, but you can also go semi -casual. read more

Drive by this place all the time, and have been wanting to try it! Stopped in for Saturday brunch and was waiting for a table for five minutes, there were two couples there, two different waiters looked at us, and walked off. Never sat us, walked out due to rudeness, went to Hungry's instead. read more

This past Sunday, a friend and I decided to grab a bite here after our morning work out. When we went inside we were immediately uncomfortable when we realized we weren't dressed for the type of "white table cloth" aura the restaurant gave off. We immediately decided to leave and before we could get to our car, a waiter came running after us and asked us to please come inside. He insisted that many people came there dressed in "sporty" clothes and we shouldn't worry. Once we got inside the hostess reassured us that it wouldn't be a problem at all and made us feel so comfortable despite being a little self conscious. Once seated, the service was tremendous! I can't say that I've been to a place where the employees genuinely care so much about your "dining experience". We were brought out complimentary bread and jam (homemade, not the kind that comes in a container) and it was quite exquisite. I'd like to thank the staff at Cafe Benedicte for making my friend and I feel so comfortable and providing excellent customer service. The fact that a waiter came running out for us shows that they go the extra mile for their customers. That's a whole lot more than I can say for many of the places I've been to. Please visit, you will not be disappointed. read more

Sunday I was looking on yelp for a place close to home for brunch... I for sure found the perfect spot... As I walked in I decided to sit at the bar... I was warmly greeted by several employees... The piano played in the back drop which complimented the ambiance... As I reviewed the menu I decided to go with a savory crepe with a side of potatoes... I was pleasantly surprised the flavor was rich and o so good!!! I will definitely be returning for brunch and would love to try dinner... Several options on the menu sparked my interest! read more

Cafe Benedicte - Crepe filled with ham, cheese and spinach with a side of potatoes... - Mediterranean Near Me - Houston, Texas

We enjoyed the restaurant week lunch menu last week at this neighborhood favorite. All of us choose the tuna and risotto main course and both were delicious. The chocolate mousse was just right to finish with. Coffee service was a bit slow but that was because they had to brew a fresh pot. We will be back. read more

When breakfast meets lunch a.k.a brunch, think Cafe Benedicte! This place is easily missed, but from now on will never be forgotten. You can find the quaint little cafe in a small little strip center. We came here for my boyfriend's birthday brunch and I'm glad we did. The staff here was fantastic and welcomed us warm heartily. The brunch menu is rather small, but covered all the basics (i.e. omelets, crepes, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast tacos). As Cory F. has said the menu and restaurant has a nice Mediterranean feel and the view is a welcoming sight. The prices are reasonable for brunch, with most of the entrees being under $10. I ordered the crepes, which came overflowing with ham, onions and a creamy Bechamel sauce. Each plate comes with their breakfast potatoes, which were seasoned and fried to golden perfection. Our waiter gets a A+. He was attentive with filling our beverages and even gave my boyfriend a complimentary birthday crepe with a candle. I will definitely be returning for my morning fill of good food and friendly service. read more

This place is not a walking distance from my place but I have walked here because I am strange? They have a great tiny patio (dog friendly). It's a good option for Breakfast/Brunch. I love their Tuscan Waffles, they are made with rosemary and basil and smell heavily. I have been coming here ever since I moved around this area. This place can be romantic at night, they play live piano at dinner time. The food here is great, they have good seafood selection (Grilled Salmon and scallops). I want to end my review here. Thank you. read more

I have been here lunch / breakfast , last almost a month back and every time they have managed to surprise me with something delectable. either food or gesture :). A review has been pending for quite some time. Let me quickly summarize my love hate relationship with this place. I love the fooood.(some of them) I love the art work of a fishing village on their window glass I love the way they have placed a wine crusher near the entrance I love the way the owner vahid and the musician walks up to our table and check if we are enjoying what we are eating/hearing I love their professionalism, patience I love the old timers here (or it rather happens to me, i have had rather long conversations with veterans who walked upto my table ,on mexican hats(i was wearing one) , Guatemalan dolls, ) I hate the fooood (some of them) I hate the lack of space for outside seating I hate how such a beautiful place overlooks a barren land and building under construction rather than a green patch (they can very well plant some shrubs or flowery bushes to cover this horrible view) I hate they are full and you need to wait , most of the time. Once i got a chance to pick a place for team lunch and i chose cafe benedicte. when we reached they had allotted the right wing for our small get together . They waited patiently through the whole process even though we were a bunch of heavily disorganized people. They took our orders based on seat positions and then in 5 minutes some dude had the bright idea of switching seats for a team building activity. Of course when they started serving chaos erupted. But they quickly calmed the situation down by calling out the dish names like an auction. I had ordered the hummus, chopped lamb and pine nuts served with pita bread for myself. which became an instant hit. The lamb was done to perfection and everyone wanted to try. which was followed by chicken piccata which i thought was a bit tangy cuz of an overdose of lemon. but the alfredo sauce saved the day. Chicken marsala would rank next to piccatta. The grilled vegetable kebabs with saffron rice can be avoided. it lacked flavor, Moussaka was another dish that can be tried. I also ordered the crepe brulee, iam a huge fan of creme brulee and this one did not disappoint. But really , do you need to put something like creme brulee inside a flamed crepe? i really wanted the creme brulee outside the crepe, but nevertheless it tasted fantastic.I think i tasted liqueur flavor, but iam not sure.I would recommend the baklava and crepe brulee of the lot. Breakfast I always stick with tempura salmon benedicte , but make sure you mention it if you do not want fried potatoes. they may not be listed in menu with some dishes , but may get served on your plate. You can always switch it with somethings lighter/healthier. Pros 1. Taste 4/5 select dishes if chosen wisely 2.Good presentation 3. Prompt service, but yes with delay during peak hours 4.Valet parking 5. Allows substitution in combination dishes 6. Good ambiance for a family get together Cons 1. There is a Mediterranean in the name, where are the dishes? 2. Limited choice for lunch 3. Bearers may not be really friendly (chatty people with lot of questions beware) 4.Sometimes the valet disappears 5. You can get roasted sitting outside on bloody sunny days.not much wind out there. closest eye candy is an office building under construction. read more

We decided to brunch here after looking them up online and seeing the beautiful pictures of their patio. Gotta take advantage of the outdoors before temperatures get too high! To our dismay, the photos of the beautiful trees and creek visible from the patio were very old. fail. Chalk it up to progress I guess . . . there is a big, like HUGE pit outside :( so we opted to dine inside. Unfortunately, the dining area is one big space and the acoustics in there made everyone's voices bounce around. It was so loud. i was a bit annoyed. Our brunch was ok (migas and an American breakfast plate). The coffee was ok. The service was nice. Everyone was attentive and the place got packed while we were in there. We probably will not be back. read more

So this review is for Valentine's day dinner, which was spectacular. My boyfriend, in typical him fashion, forgot to book a place until the week before. Scrambling, he found this place, which I saw got really awesome reviews overall, so I was intrigued. Based on Yelp reviews, I thought this place would be at least pretty good, but I was in for a real treat. We had the prix-fixe menu and ordered the crabmeat-avocado-trifle, the seafood thermidor, and the chocolate cake. I needed a recommendation for the wine, as I didn't recognize any of the chardonnay options they had, and the waiter gave me a taste of the special. I was hooked, and ordered the bottle. First + for Ali, our waiter. Now, he came back with "bad news" - they had run out of the chocolate cake. I was a bit concerned at first, as this was the only chocolate offering on the menu, and I am a chocolate fiend. Then Ali said that he could offer us the chocolate mousse instead, which was a great offer, as we would both have preferred the mousse to the cake anyway! He also said he was bringing complimentary soups to make up for the trouble (we let him believe this was trouble for the soup, but it really wasn't). The soup turned out to be lobster bisque (5/5), a regular menu item, which I'd recommend to anyone who goes. It wasn't heavy, which I enjoyed, and had pieces of lobster with just an overall great taste. We were thrilled that we got to try this. Also, their bread is AWESOME (5/5). It was warm and soft and just utterly delicious. I shouldn't have eaten so much but it was worth every calorie. Then came the avocado-crab-pico trifle (5/5). It was on the smaller side but the crabmeat and avocado were fresh and delicious as can be. That with the lobster bisque made us more than prepared for our made dish. That leaves us with our seafood thermidor (5/5), which included lobster tail, scallops, and shrimp with fettuccine and mushrooms with asparagus. The entire dish was fantastic. I enjoyed every single bite, and I was truly impressed. Lastly we got this substitute dessert, a chocolate lava cake with chocolate mousse. Poor us, right? It goes down as one of the best desserts I've had in Houston. I'm positive I enjoyed this more than I would've enjoyed the original cake. It came with delicious vanilla ice cream and the mousse was spectacular. The lava cake was warm and soft and the exact way you'd picture a great lava cake. This was all topped off by an awesome pianist who I really enjoyed. He came over to talk to us a few times too, which I really enjoyed. Also, the chef came too, which I thought was truly special. I will mention that we were by far the youngest people there. I understood why this place wasn't booked a month early for Valentine's Day, as the atmosphere wasn't perfect for any young couples, but I thought it was the perfect dinner. The food was out of this world, and that's what matters to a foodie like me. I cannot wait to come back and try this place for brunch or for a regular dinner. Seriously give this place a try for some great food. read more

Why is it so hard to find a restaurant that serves Houston Restaurant Weeks lunch on Saturdays? Café Benedicte is one of the few, so we were forced to hang out in the Energy Corridor. 1 PM was already a late lunch for me, and the first course took a loooong time to arrive. The cauliflower blue cheese soup was interesting in a good way- worth trying. The smoked salmon quesadilla was greasy, which cancels the health benefit of eating salmon. My main course, wine and honey lamb ribs, was scrumptious. Easy to cut with a fork and knife, so I didn't have to resort to using my hands. I also really enjoyed the tempura salmon croquette (misleading- they're just salmon cakes). It's a tough call between the two. Make a deal with a friend and share both. I don't advertise myself as a baklava expert, but I did consume a lot of it in Turkey. I tried a bite of my friend's and it sucked. Dry, crunchy, and stale. Disappointing even with low expectations. I chose the panna cotta with fresh berries instead. According to Joe Bastianich, the correct pronunciation is "pah-na koh-ta." He seizes every opportunity to remind you of his Italian descent, flinging around Italian words whenever possible, so obviously he can't be wrong. Our server tried to correct me with "pannah cot-ta." Ha, das cute. It was a little runny, but I loved it. Our credit cards came back with mismatched receipts. Our server said it didn't matter because all of us paid the same amount, but um, yes it does. I'm pretty sure my friend's signature doesn't look anything like "Karen." Reasons I might return to Café Benedicte: Charming decor, respectable food, and accidentally leaving my credit card behind (oops). read more

This is a very small and lovely restaurant. I met my " housewives" here for lunch a few week back..and I really enjoyed this place. The food was delicious and the apple martinis ( which all of us ordered ) were really good. not too sweet nor tart. This place has a beautiful wall that I'm GUESSING is a mural of Italy..it has the overlook view of the ocean from the villas. NICE for a picture.. Looks like we were actually dining in that place on the mural. The prices are midpoint.. not cheap and not over the top. I think I may return.... read more

A hidden gem! Café Benedicte has consistently provided quality food in an upscale atmosphere at reasonable prices. Try the ceviche!! I was thoroughly impressed. Full of shrimp and whitefish, not overly acidic, served with crispy chips. Y U M! If you're around on a weekend, try their brunch. On Sunday's after church we head over. Recently tried their newly added Protein Bowl. WOW! The bowl was full, the grilled veggies - perfect!, and the combination just really worked well together. Healthy and certainly satisfying. I wish I'd have taken a picture to post here. Just go try it instead! :) Enjoy! read more

I was a guest for a dinner at Cafe Benedicte. They have a very large menu. You'll find Italian choices, American cuisine and even Mediterranean dishes. This is something that immediately raises my suspicions about restaurants. Also, what is up with the paint colors and decor in the place? Maybe they are trying to be eclectic but I think it comes across as tacky. Food was underwhelming. Nothing exciting. I shared a dessert with another person and was completely disappointed with the tart. The tart crust tasted bland and still frozen. It they did make it fresh, well, it just didn't taste good at all. I think they skimped on the berries too. I don't plan to return. Not impressed. read more

I love this place. The inside is really nice and the windows being made to look like Malfi was a nice touch. The wait staff is really nice and they seem to really care if you're having a good time. First time here! We went for brunch on Sunday. Atmosphere is upscale but most people were dressed casual. Live piano player who will take requests also. We all ate from the breakfast menu, they are known for the eggs benedict. Our family had eggs benedict, omelette, and French toast. Everything tasted wonderful! Service was quick and very attentive. While we ate, the chef came out to table to personally ask how is everything. You can tell they care about the quality of food they put out to their customers. I'm sure we will be returning for brunch soon. If you like breakfast, and especially eggs benedict give this place a try. read more

Cafe Benedicte - Mediterranean Near Me - Houston, Texas

Fair warning: Don't read the menu if you're bored while waiting for the waitress... they won't ask if you need more time... they'll assume you're not ready. Also order a drink because if you get water, they don't refill it even though they walk by you. Finally when the table was clear, the waitress asked if we wanted more water. No ma'am. Just give me my check please. The cutout of Italy is an extremely cute idea and laughable at some points due to the trees pointing in the middle of the ocean. The complimentary bread was burnt that I just had to tear it off. Had the TUSCAN WAFFLE - rosemary with 2 poached eggs. I was so hungry I didn't care to take a pic. Presentation was alright. It wasn't as flavorful... it was too savory for the syrup and too bland without it. Most likely won't ever come back. If the service was better, I would have considered giving this place another chance. The majority seemed like an older crowd that that doesn't mind being there for 2 hours for brunch. read more

My wife, daughter and I came here for Father's Day brunch. We had read good Yelp reviews and the place was near our neighborhood. Overall our experience was pretty good. Only thing that marred it was that they only had six high chairs and all of them were in use by the time we arrived around 10:45a. We didn't make reservations but I would have expected they would plan for an unusually large amount of families on *Father's Day* We did get the first available high chair after about 15 minutes so the staff did make it right as soon as possible. Our server was pretty good as well and the interior decor is interesting and different. I ordered the Father's Day special which was lobster Benedict as a double order instead of just an appetizer. It came with fruit but I subbed out the potatoes side. My wife had the Migas which she didn't realize came with potatoes on the side so I should have stuck with my fruit so we could share. My entree was pretty darn good, buttery and rich, but not much spice beyond that. For once I was OK with that since the fresh, sweet and juicy lobster could easily be overpowered. That being said, I tasted my wife's Migas and especially the spicy/sweet/smoky sauce they layer on the bottom and it was outstanding. I know what I'm getting next time we visit! On a very busy day the staff handled the crowd pretty well and our food came in fairly quickly. Our waitress was on the ball with coffee refills and the coffee was good, but not great. I think anyone wanting to dine in the Energy Corridor area should give Cafe Benedicte a try. Perhaps my next experience will be good enough to warrant 4 stars. read more

This place advertises itself as African, Moroccan, and Mediterranean cuisine, but it's nothing more than a fancier iHop. My bf and I came for brunch Saturday morning, and we were definitely the youngest people there. No big deal, since the restaurant is cute with its blue walls and great view of... some wooded area? We ordered the bacon-wrapped filet ($15), torta de patatas ($9), coffee, and a bowl of fruit. Coffee was mediocre and came with a stale wafer. The fruit was soft and tasted like it'd been sitting in the fridge all week. My egg cake with potatoes, leeks, and onions turned out to be a dry egg frittata. It was just way too dense for what was advertised. It also came out lukewarm, and the salsa had a strange aftertaste. At that point, maybe I was just so biased that I started picking on everything. The only positive was the portion size. The bill came out to something like $35, a lot more than I wanted to pay for a really lousy meal. At least the service was good. I have a feeling their lunch and dinner menu will be a lot better than brunch, but I'm just not willing to drive back out there to try it. read more

I come here with my family at least once a month after church for their Sunday brunch. We've been coming for years! The staff and owner are very friendly. I recognize faces, and there are regulars that come for brunch, but all guests are treated special. You're first served with fresh bread, butter and jams which buys your empty stomach some time before the real meal comes out. It's safe to say that I've tried almost everything on their brunch menu. I would go through phases where I would get their week after week get their breakfast tacos, then switch off to trying a new eggs Benedict each week, or most recently, just getting their crepes. They are all so good! They come with a side of fruit, potatoes or grits. I used to always get their potatoes, but lately I've been taking the healthy option and savored the fruit. Get anything here. I don't think you can go wrong. I do suggest trying the biscuits and gravy. You won't regret it. The pianist steals the show. He's only there on Sunday mornings, and boy does he know how to work the crowd. He's an amazing entertainer, singing happy birthday to any celebrant present. He plays the classics, current Disney hits and even a piano rendition of Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven"! Whenever we are there, he always makes sure to play Filipino folk songs such as "Waray Waray". We were surprised that he knew how to play those songs, so we asked him how he learned. He told us a story of how he met the former Philippine first lady, Imelda Marcos who taught him how to play the songs. read more

Saturday morning brunch! Atmosphere is awesome! Staff and service was great, one of the best parts (not typical at breakfast/brunch) was the warm fresh bread with homemade jams when they brought out the drinks before the meal! We ordered the Tuscan Waffle with 2 poached eggs, feta cheese, spinach and tomatoes and my hubby ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict with a side of bacon. Everything we had was delicious! It's a little bit pricier than your average cafe, but well worth the money for what you get. We will definitely be regulars here now that we know it exists! read more

Not a bad place. I can not complain at all because I lucked up and purchased a Groupon Now lunch deal for $30 worth of food for $1.

Outstanding breakfast this Sunday morning. We arrived when they opened at 9:00. Probably my most favorite dish ever is an Eggs Benedict. Sort of new to the area, every place I try is a new place, so we asked the waiter what he recommended. To start is the bread with jams. That bread was wonderful and so on point to get that palette moving, along with a Bloody Mary. For me. the waiter recommended the Meat Lovers Muffins with potatoes. For her, he recommended the skillet. We had one of our best meals in the the couple of months since we moved out here (the other being Indian food, Ashiana). Mine was decadent. The eggs were poached perfectly. The Hollandaise, I would prefer a swim in it, but still, this meal was outstanding. My girlfriend had three meals out of her breakfast and loved every one of them. I tasted her grits. Next time, instead of the potatoes, I want a large BOWL of those grits please. Outstanding meal and service. Hope to see the piano player the other reviewers talked about! read more

Great food, amazing service and awesome music provided by acoustic guitarist Rodrigo.

My girlfriend & I visited this establishment earlier today & yes the Hawaiian bread French toast is definitely a must try !!! The waffle's are a bit dry (nothing extraordinarily). The waitress was nice & she checked on us often. She also switched out my drink (at no charge) because I didn't like it so customer service was really good. read more
