Perfect place to go to for your crepe cravings! The decor is on point and they switch it up for different seasons/holidays. There's a vintage and charming vibe throughout the cafe. Personally, I don't think it's the ideal place to study for long periods of time because it tends to get loud later in the day. This is my go to spot in Bayside! They always have cute themed decor and lots of seating options! First time coming back here since the pandemic. Upon arriving, noticed that there was over 50% capacity inside and they had outdoor seating as well, but it was a seat yourself kind of situation. Wasn't too thrilled about that and they didn't wipe down the tables after the customers leave. The table behind us was less that 6 feet away so we decided to leave promptly after our food was finished. Ordered Nutella Crepe with strawberries and vanilla ice cream, presentation and taste was on par as usual. Ordered a hot latte with almond milk and hazelnut syrup, had a cute foam drawing on top and was very hot. Perfect temperature for a crisp October evening. The service was very nice and helpful as usual, the place got very packed within minutes and the line was almost to the door. I like trying out different cafes in Queens but these days, Cafe Bench has been hitting the spot for me! First of all, their interior design is so intricately put together with cute details all around the place. I don't think I've ever been to a cafe that was this beautiful. Also, their desserts are always well-presented and delicious (although a bit pricey but the presentation is also what we pay for, right?). Occasionally, they screen movies on the side of the cafe, which is pretty cool. Honestly, I've been coming here way too often and I love it! my friends and i just got their shaved ice (matcha and mango) and it was pretty good, but the bottom of our matcha shaved ice had several plastic/saran-wrap pieces in it. i spit out the first piece but they just kept coming. when we asked the worker at the counter, they only said "oh... i don't know" and took away the shaved ice as well as the napkin we put our plastic pieces on. it was a decent experience considering i wasn't expecting much from their bingsoo anyway, but i was surprised that they had no regard for plastic being in their food. definitely don't be surprised by nonchalant staff (i'm sure it's a managerial oversight), but at least the atmosphere of the cafe was really cute! read more

Nearly every yelper here has made mention of the cute decor because it's impossible to ignore. For the lactose-intolerant/vegans, there IS soy milk here, so any milk-based drink can be appropriately modified for your dietary needs. Their lattes are customarily made without sweetener, but I must have looked somewhat crestfallen upon that discovery because the man who took my order quickly added, "We can add some liquid sugar to it, if you'd like." BEST DECISION EVER. My soy latte ended up tasting like an amazing hybrid of coffee and hot chocolate, hugging me from the inside. To have it in a sunlit, happy cove like this one? Let's just say my boyfriend should be glad I was with a girl because I was feeling super romantic. My friend ordered the strawberry lemonade, which was a pleasant surprise when we saw them throwing real strawberries into a blender before adding the lemonade and ice. A fruit drink with actual fruits? Imagine that! She let me have a sip or two, and I found it on the sweeter side, but not so much that you feel like you're diluting your bloodstream with fruit-flavored high fructose corn syrup (Here's looking at you, Dunkin Donuts). The prices are neither very cheap nor extremely exorbitant; I'd say they're slightly above Starbucks with certain items with far better atmosphere. Just know that if you only plan on ordering one or two cups of coffee, you should bring cash (credit card purchases require a minimum of $10). Although I was extremely tempted to get something huge with lots of whipped cream and ice cream and chocolate, the Apple Jack sounded delicious. It was not. I don't know why I was expecting actual apple chunks or even something close to real apple flavor but the special apple sauce they used was extremely sweet and tasted nothing close to apples. Way too much caramel on top as well. The crepe pancake itself, was very, very thin and weak. There was only one small piece of apple, like the size of my nail and that was the closest I can get to a crepe with real apples. The crepe was more than $6 and I was so disappointed. I love the decor of Cafe Bench. It has a very homely and warming feel to it. I really would not mind showing up to this cafe with my pajamas on, if that's okay with them! I would recommend any of the hot coffee drinks. I love the cappuccinos, bold with a strong bitter taste but it really wakes me up. I especially love the adorable heart foam art on it! Lattes, Americanos, and Mochas are honorable mentions here, too! There is a wait for your cup of coffee but if it interests you, feel free to take a peak at the barista making your caffeine drinks by the espresso machine. I was not too pleased with the cold drinks options here like the lemonades and smoothies. They really lacked flavor here and it is quite expensive. Crepe desserts are also a hit or a miss. I got dessert crepe #2, Hoi Hoi made with walnut, cinnamon and brown sugar drizzled with caramel and powdered sugar. The price is a racking $5 which I think is a little bit pricey for the serving size. It tastes good and enjoyed it. Got a small cup of cappuccino for $3.25 for myself and a Momo Peach smoothie for my husband for $4.25. I love my coffee especially with the extra heart foaming on top of it. Cute and decent, but not amazing. They have a ton of savory and sweet crepes, but the variation between them all isn't much. They just add one or two ingredients to each and call it a completely new crepe. They have a few drinks, but nothing that makes them stand out from the rest. They did have some technical difficulties and it took 4 workers and 5 minutes for them to load a new roll of printer paper. They definitely need more workers. It shouldn't take that long to make a crepe and a cup of coffee, but they seemed to be having a hard time. Overall the ambiance was nice and I loved that they have outdoor and indoor seating (based on what you're comfortable with). Only minor complaint was that my crepe was kind of dry (maybe it's supposed to be that way?) because by nature, it's supposed to be filled with cookie crumbs/butter. This is a cute little cafe if you're willing to travel quite far down northern boulevard. The atmosphere is adorable with wooden bench/chair seating. It's bright and nicely decorated. I love how the tree in the middle is decorated. It's like you're having a tea party in an outdoor garden but you're indoors. I come here quite a bit as my boyfriend loves the crepes. His favorite is the lady nana and that's why I've never tried anything else. You should try it at least once if you like bananas, nilla wafers, condensed milk and vanilla ice cream. My friends have tried the mangoade and they said it was really sour. Granted it's half lemonade but they were expecting something a little sweeter. On the plus side, it does have fresh mango in it! The red bean ice is offered all year long which is nice. It comes with a pretty good heaping pile of red bean, condensed milk, fruits, cornflakes, and ice cream. There is no waitress service. When you order, they give you the discs that vibrate when your order is ready so order first and then sit down. You pick up your order when it rings and drop your tray off at the counter when youre done. I love this place if you ever need a place to sit down, study, and enjoy amazing food. I've been back to this spot several times, you can typically find me sitting next to the wall laptop plugged in cappuccino in hand enjoying the atmosphere. The staff is very friendly I've never had any issues with them, the one time I had to wait for an extended period of time for my coffee they appologized perfusely. The ambiance is really what you come for. Beyond the food which is okay, and the coffee which is superb the entire cafe is beautifly decorated with fairy lights and themed decorations based on the time of year. The only downside to this place is the smeel of the food whcih is a bit too strong and tends to stick to your clothes. But Still that's not enough of a negative to make me stop wanting to go back. read more
