Now, I knew nothing about Mezza Luna, never heard of it or looked for reviews first, so I had no idea what the night would bring! We called from the car to make sure they were still serving dinner, the owner answered and told us he would have a table ready when we arrived. My first thought... impressive and a very nice man! We found the restaurant, pull into the parking lot, it was so full we literally got the last spot! My second thought....it's going to be an expensive night, but I was looking forward so I was prepared, it was pay day! LOL! The owner greeted us as we walked in, Mezza Luna is a classy, romantic restaurant with a warm, comfortable feel to it! I already had the feeling anything we ordered would be extremely well prepared and delicious, I was right! Friday evenings there is live music! A guy playing an acoustic guitar was set up in a nice spot when we walked in, very talented and played some great classic rock songs! Our table was perfect, could easily seat four people! Right away, glasses of ice water were served with a basket of fresh semolina bread! Our waiter, Fred, came over shortly after. I have to say the service is superb! He was very courteous and attentive throughout the evening! I can't even count how many times someone came to our table to fill our glass with water! The menu is very nice, you will without a doubt find any of your favorite dishes to choose from. Decisions, decisions, decisions...It was tough but I went with the Filet of Sole Francaise. My daughter chose a pasta dish. Fred read off the specials, all great choices, but I still ordered my favorite dish! However, beef barley soup was part of the specials so I ordered that. It was over the top delicious and a nice size serving! They don't skimp on anything, lots of beef with tiny pasta and vegetables. Even though finely chopped so no big pieces, there was a big taste of everything in each spoonful. I finished it all! The presentation was also beautiful and served piping hot! As everything on the menu is ala carte, your dish comes as is, so we didn't order any pasta or appetizers. It was a little pricey but believe me, it won't matter to you! The portions are big enough and a complimentary bowl of fresh mixed vegetables are served with your dinner. The francaise sauce was perfection and my fish was succulent, very fresh! My daughter enjoyed her pasta dish tremendously! There is always room for dessert, even though I felt like I couldn't eat another bite, I couldn't pass up dessert. My favorite was one of the choices (of course it was) but so were 3 or 4 others. They offer two kinds of tartufo which was a first for me! I went with the tiramisu! It was one of the best I ever had! It was so over the top delicious I finished it all!! Last nights dinner was one of the best I have had in a long time, even better than the Country House, where we went for Easter! This was just different, a very elegant experience. I highly recommend Mezza Luna. Especially if you have a SO, you must dine here! I will absolutely be back soon, not one negative about the evening I can think of, it was really a perfect night!

There is limited parking in the small lot in the back but there is street parking. There is a small bar area that was quite busy when my brother and I visited on a recent Tuesday at 7pm. I don't know if they have 'happy hour' but it seemed to quiet down not long after that. The dining area is not large but there are quite a number of tables and for a Tuesday many were occupied at that time with everyone from couples to families to singles. Complimentary bruschetta was brought along with a bread basket of a rustic bread w/olives and a white bread. There is a very extensive wine list along with a good selection by the glass. The standard menu is huge and they also had a full page of specials. We started with the crab cakes for an app and we mentioned we'd be sharing. I was impressed that they brought us each 1 plated. My brother had a Veal chop special, enough for two meals, that was stuffed with spinach, prosciutto & cheese in a brown mushroom gravy. He enjoyed it tremendously I have a chicken special that was stuffed with spinach, sausage, ricotta in a light tomato sauce. It was very tasty and a large portion. I took half home. There were also several dessert specials, we had a pistachio creme brulee which was just ok and a rainbow cookie crusted cheesecake which was outstanding. Everything from the service to the food was above average and I won't hesitate to go again and soon

The restaurant is unpretentious and very small, with room for only about 20-24 people total, so do make reservations in advance. We went for our anniversary and had a delicious meal served by efficient and engaging waitresses. We ordered too much because it all sounded so good in the Yelp reviews, but we'll get to enjoy the leftovers tomorrow. Started out with the tapenade and a generous amount of Italian bread (extra bread was brought when we ran out), then tried the very tasty seasonal burrata with peaches appetizer for me and baked clams for my husband. (That was the only part of the meal that disappointed him a bit--I think he'll be more adventurous the next time we go. The clams were fine but not especially notable.) For the primi course, we shared the smaller-sized order of orechiette with sausage and pesto--delicious and plenty for us. We actually could have happily stopped at that point and ordered dessert, but we had already committed to a main course and were glad we did. My halibut was delicious (with crunchy, perfectly cooked green beans along with potatoes and mushrooms), and he really liked his chicken Milanese. The grand finale was the delicious black and white creme brulee--perfectly torched on top to caramelize the sugar, delicious vanilla and chocolate underneath. The service was outstanding. Everything came at exactly the right time so that a four-course dinner took only an hour and a half. We will definitely be back!
