I have lost count on how many times we have had Shaved Ice/Bingsoo from Cafe Auburndale. We have tried several Bingsoo places around the neighborhood and yet Cafe Auburndale is the one that has the best texture & flavor. Our to go flavors are usually Mango or Strawberry. A great wfh place in the area! They recently added back their free wifi and this place has a lot of tables, outlets, and a bathroom. The portion sizes are pretty big for each dish, so it is recommended that you shared with another person or two for these! The music can get a bit loud here, as well as the waves of crowds that come throughout the day and night, so put that into consideration if you're trying to come here to get work done. My friend and I got here around 8:15 on a Monday, and the place was honestly packed! And we were bringin' up the average age by far, haha. We felt very hip. The menu is actually on the smaller side, but you'll find something sweet to satisfy you. The bingsoo, while looking awesome, seemed actually quite large. And I'm not sure I could stomach the price. So instead, we got soft serve for just under $10 each. Ok, also seems expensive, but they were huge! The matcha soft serve was a delight and very refreshing. Don't forget to check out the seating outside in the back. There's actually a ton more seating in their cute garden in the back. They definitely seemed a bit overwhelmed at this hour. We had to wait a bit to order, and the two gals at the counter were rushing to catch up on orders. The serving is huge when I am seeing the order size that's being picked up. I told my husband that I am willing just to share with him and try partially what my niece will get. Came here on a Monday night with a friend and it was PACKED. I did not expect it to be that packed. We both ordered soft serve - I ordered the dalgona and she ordered the matcha. Both were good, but the dalgona chunks were GIANT. After eating so many dalgona chunks I sadly could barely eat the soft serve! This is also likely a soft serve that would be shareable with 2 people. I wanted to try this place again so I decided to venture out with my family over the weekend. Before going, I called to ask if the ice cream had eggs in it as my child has an allergy. The phone call wasn't great, and I wish the person had been more friendly on the phone. It was enough to raise a red flag so I asked about it while there in person over the weekend. The person at the counter went and checked the ingredient list and confirmed that it didn't have egg. Feeling reassured, we ordered the strawberry bingsoo and it was giant. My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 small children) finished it, but it definitely took some effort. The outdoor patio in the back is great and comfortable. Tons of sweet treats are in the display case, and while and they have a nice drink menu as well. I asked for a decaf tea and amazingly they have a whole list of their teas with a chart that shows which teas have caffeine and which ones don't. Jumping ahead, I ordered a mint iced tea to go and it was perfect for ending the day and after a heavy meal. With friends, we decided to order a few things to split. The Mango Bingsoo (sooooooo delicious) the Very Berry Croffle, and some Dalgona soft serve. Each dessert was just as good as the next. This is a popular cafe and dessert spot on Northern Blvd that I had been going to every so often. It is located in the Flushing/Auberndale area (parking along the main road is available and on the residential side streets). When you pass by this establishment you will actually notice it right away as it is bright lights with a white interior. The aesthetic and overall chill vibe makes this a nice place to relax. There is seating availability varies depending on when you go (prime time hours have a lot of foot traffic which is to be expected). The back area offers a bit more privacy and it also good for groups. The variety of desserts they offer is enough to sate anyone's sweet tooth. The bingsu (Korean shaved ice) menu is what they are most known for. Popular flavors include matcha, mango, strawberry and oreo. The other desserts that I liked during my visits included the dragonfruit acai bowl, tiramisu waffle and the dalgona (made famous by Squid games but a very well known treat among Koreans) softserve and the berry croiffle. Each order of ice is big enough to share among a few people (as you can see by the photo I provided) and each one is made to order using fresh fruits. The acai bowls have a bunch of toppings you can choose from including banana, kiwi strawberry, chia seeds, granola, almond flakes, coconut flakes and honey drizzle. As you can see it is quite customizable. The waffle is large size that is Each dessert they offer is portioned enough for sharing (or enough for a solo person who loves desserts). But it is a lot of dessert even for one person (I speak from experience!) The soft serve is quite tasty but tends to melt rather quickly. So take any photos you need and indulge. The croffle (hybrid of croissant and waffle) made a splash in NYC and I was glad to see they offered it here as well for one of he dessert options. The berry one was topped with mixed berries, condensed milk, whip cream and strawberry ice cream. The other flavors they offer include cookie butter, matcha oreo and a plain one (almonds, maple syrup, vanilla ice cream). The employees that were working during my visits have all been polite and diligent. They take your order but are usually always busy. Do not expect too much small talk or chit chat which is common for places that are busy with customers. Sometimes I feel bad ordering the shaved ice because there is usually one person doing the desserts but she is very good at what she does. When you make your order, you are given a pager (buzzer or beeper) that alerts you when your order is ready. You then go and pick up your prepared order (there is no table service here). Since this is a cafe, they of course offer a very nice variety of drinks. The coffees include popular ones like esspresso, lattes, cold brews, americano and flavored lattes. Non coffee offerings include chai, chocolate, matcha and white chocolate (some have both cold and hot versions which will be indicated on the menu). There are seasonal specials that tend to change so check them out if you feel adventurous. The teas can also be hot and cold for certain flavors, Some refreshing cold drinks include lemonades (strawberry, lavender and matcha) as well as lime, fresh orange and grapefruit flavors. The strawberry smoothie is always good. The signature drinks include Purple Rain, Hawaiian latte and a Golden latte. As you can see by now if you came for a beverage you would certainly be well hydrated. Cafe Auburndale is a very nice spot to visit if you need to get some work done or catch up with friends or if you wanted to spend time with someone. Prices seem on par with similar dessert places in Flushing so make sure you budget for your visit and please tip accordingly. read more

Staff was really sweet. The waffle was ENORMOUS. I had low expectations because waffles tend to disappoint but this waffle wasn't dense in the least and was instead light, fluffy, and airy. It was topped with a thick layer of whipped marscapone cream chocolate sauce and the ice cream scoop on top was HUGE. Came here for a quick dessert and enjoyed it a lot. The decor reminds me of the cute cafes in Korea with modern decor. They were blasting kpop. The menu is extensive, ranging from bingsu to croffles. The weather has been too cold lately so it's not bingsoo season yet, but their waffles are a good alternative. So far my favorite has been the tiramisu waffle, the amount of toppings depends on who's making it---sometimes you may get more or less. The size of the waffle is big enough to share, and the waffle batter is flavorful and smells amazing. Something about a warm waffle topped with ice cream and other sweet toppings really hits the spot for me. So yes, the waffle has been my go to order for every visit thus far. In all honesty I think their waffle tastes better than waffle n sip. There's also cafe bench across the way that offers crepes but sometimes you just want to indulge in a nice waffle now and then. They also offer molten lava cakes and Croffles~ Their coffee selection is solid, I tried their signature drink Purple Rain which is an iced latte with lavender. Aesthetic wise, it's simplistic and minimalistic. The overall place is very bright. The cafe is quite busy throughout the day so seats can be hard to find sometimes, I do prefer evenings since it's a bit quieter. Overall a very popular place for students to study and grab a coffee. The staff working the register at around 4pm on Friday, February 21st were awful at their jobs. The actual person manning the register was texting on their phone and wouldn't look up at the customer before rudely blurting out "what do you want?" It also seems like a friend of that same person came in right at the same time, and he started chatting with his friend in the middle of taking the customer's order. I was considering ordering a few items, but this interaction left a poor taste I just opted to get a simple drink, The staff around him were standing around laughing at each other's jokes. Finally when my drink order was ready, it was placed on the counter and there was no indication that it was my order. Instead, I gestured towards my drink and the same child manning the register just went "yuh". What a fine establishment you run. read more
