Small Pho with Ribeye steak slices.
Marty L.

I'm giving four stars mostly for the value. And the salad here is made to order and fresh - more people in this city should eat more fresh salads rather than the cheese steaks or other fast foods. The small side of Pho was only $3.15 and was plenty for a lunch serving. It's pretty basic like the street market style - not too much basil. But super filling with nice cuts of cooked ribeye slices. Yum. So I recommend this place as a good value lunch place. I didn't like the smell of the cleaner that they use in the dining room. It put me off a little bit. The dining room also has some odd layout like its half empty. Try take out. There was a quite a busy demand for take out.

Nice and clean Cafe located one block from the Federal Courthouse and one block from the Rutgers Campus. A play on Salad Works, but their veggies don't come from a bag and are always freshly cut. They even have Green Goddess dressing. Recently added the best beef or chicken Pho. You can also get fresh fruit salad and spring rolls. Worth the stop if you are in town.

Went on a weekday for lunch and I was the only customer. Very large restaurant with high ceilings…read moreand big tables. There's a huge screen in the back, probably used for karaoke. Staff were nice and attentive. I got classic beef pho because I was feeling under the weather. I was pleased with the portion size! They did not skimp on the bean sprouts and I was starting to feel full halfway through the bowl. It was my first time being given oxtail bones and some meat with fat stranding in the pho. Would love to come back and try more items off their menu!

They are also BYOB to allow a real "nhậu" experience. We had lots of lounge food including the chân gà nướng muối ớt (crispy chicken feet), gỏi bắp bò (beef salad), nghêu nướng mỡ hành (grilled top neck clams), ốc nhảy hấp sả gừng (steamed lemongrass ginger whelk), and more. The crispy chicken feet was a huge hit. It had the perfect crisp and was spicy, salty, and sweet (personally, this is my holy trinity of flavors). I think this would be a great way to introduce chicken feet to people who haven't had it before. The beef salad was super refreshing, and I appreciated the copious amounts of beef and different vegetables, especially banana blossom. I've had chicken in this type of salad growing up but this tender beef is a game changer. Everything else was great but those were the highlights for me. The staff is very lovely and they made sure we were taken care of. The whole restaurant is modernized and clean. I highly recommend trying DVR whether you're looking for a classic Vietnamese meal or wanting to tap into the lounge experience.

First off, this place passed the vibe check! Nice music and beautiful scenic decor inside and…read moreoutside. The out door patio seems to have games like corn hole and darts. So that's fun! Now to talk about the food..... I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I've never had a Banh Mi sandwich before and this did not disappoint . I would add a picture but I ate it so fast and didn't think I was going to write a review lol. But I ordered the Grilled Pork sandwich on a croissant and it was 10/10! Also, I have to talk about their coconut milk tea... Superb! It taste like real, fresh coconut milk. I've been looking for this coconut place since Bambi closed down around the corner and here it is! Better quality than you'd get a bubble tea place. I WILL be going back here to try more menu items. But standing ovation

Once we sat down, it started to get a little busier. The banh mis were alright; we liked that the baguettes weren't too hard, but the flavor was mediocre. I felt they needed more mayo and pâté. By the time we finished our meal, we went back to the counter to pick up our takeout order, but it wasn't ready. We ended up waiting nearly an hour after our initial order for those items to come out. I'm not sure why it took so long considering it was only four items: a drink, a pre-made dessert, sizzling steak, and a patty. When we got home, we realized the patty was missing. Definitely double-check your order if you're getting takeout. We were bringing food back for a family member on a limited diet due to surgery, so the missing item was very disappointing. We won't be coming back.

They had good reviews online and rightfully so! When we came in, the only staff was this man and a young child sitting on a chair, who I assumed was his daughter. He would gently ask her to help with small tasks like bringing us menus and water, which she would adorably rush over to our table, place down quickly, and then scurry back to her chair. It honestly made me laugh to myself and smile -- it was such a wholesome moment that really showed the family dynamic. Seeing his daughter nearby while he worked added a lot of warmth to the experience and made the place feel even more genuine and welcoming. I even noticed her school photos on the wall near the cashier table, which really highlighted the family-run vibe. Food was delicious, and it was my the first time seeing banana flower shavings as part of the side toppings at a Viet restaurant so that was unique. Also my first time having pennywort drink and the more I drank it, the more I liked it. Tasted healthy and refreshing!

There were other menu options but my friend was like you came for the mi quang so you have to try it here. We ordered the mi quang dac biet which comes with a variety of meats, quail eggs and a crispy rice cracker. Portions were large, prices were fair for what you got. Service was quick and just enough. Noodles were bouncy with the right amount of chew, broth was delish. And the meats were tender and well seasoned. This is likely the best mi quang in Philly! The only ones we have had better were in San Jose. We also tried some of the yogurt and sticky rice desserts, they were tasty and refreshing after a heavy meal. Would highly recommend stopping by for an authentic central vietnam noodle dish! And then you can walk to ca phe roasters for coffee! I've heard the owners are considering retiring soon, so check it out before they do!
