Take out food available during COVID19 Pandemic. Nice safe pick-up window 4/18/2020.

I am in a blissful, well-fed state as I write this! I could not be happier with my take-out experience from Cafe Amici tonight. The angel hair pasta was great--the marinara sauce was flavorful and not too acidic. The eggplant in the eggplant parmigiana was tender and sliced thin, the breading was light and tasty, and it was cooked to perfection.Everything was so fresh and piping hot. The portion was generous, and just half of it filled me up completely. Everything was packaged securely, so nothing spilled in the car. Also, the restaurant included a generous amount of napkins and plastic utensils. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, restaurants in New Jersey are take out only, and different venues have complied with this rule in different ways. I really like how Cafe Amici has arranged for food pick-up. Customers do not enter the building at all, but receive food at a slide through window while standing outside. (See photo) I had called in my order, and gave my credit card number over the phone, so I could just pick up my food and go. The parking lot was completely empty. The food was hot, fresh, and ready in 30 minutes just as promised on the phone. The order was accurate. The staff was as sweet as could be and I really appreciated their pleasant words and positive attitudes, especially during this stressful time.

Cafe Amici is your typical small corner pizzeria. The walls were adorned with various sports posters, mainly baseball, pictures and maps of Italy, a Godfather movie poster and several local sports team plaques. There was an impressive selection at the counter which is usually a good sign. The slices are large and definitley filling. The plain had a tasty, fluffy crust, but the sauce to cheese ratio was off. Too much cheese, not enough of the red stuff. The BBQ chicken was either overcooked or lacking flavor. I would like to try some of the other specialties, but in the meantime, I can say the pizza I had was just average.

Single slice barbeque chicken pizza - partly eaten :) Don't worry, I finished it!

Mom, John, and I stopped in for quick slices before a concert at the nearby Franklin Township Library last Sunday. Ambiance is minimal...this is mostly a takeout affair. We were pleased that the case offered a selection of (huge) single slices ready to heat, so each of us could order what pleased us. The pizza with the barbequed chicken topping looked tasty - generously loaded with chicken atop a thick layer of cheese - and it was. The chicken pieces were a healthy size, still bustled with moisture, and the sauce was not overly sweet. The traditional crust is on the thick side - but it was crisp on the bottom and edges and evenly baked through. The cheese stayed in place after taking a bite (as opposed to the unhappy pizza experience of topping that all slides off with the first bite). Mom chose a plain slice, John, pepperoni. They were both happy! Amici's features a large pizza size that probably deserves its own zip code. It must be two feet across. The ready-to-reheat pies behind the glass are these beasts. One slice each was plenty for mom and me. John bravely munched through two! They had fresh coffee! We also noticed Chicago Style Deep Dish on the menu and are determined to order one on a visit to mom in the near future. I wavered a little between a four and five star rating (ambiance and utilitarian bathroom dragging down the score a bit). However, my slice of pizza met all the criteria for a five, the guys behind the counter were so nice, and for the size and generosity of the pizza slices, the prices were extremely reasonable. So five it is!

Stopped over on Saturday between 5 and 6 and it was empty - just a couple of employees and the previous owner / perhaps co-owner now - and the dining room was quiet and for the most part empty but the phone was ringing for delivery orders. Place was clean and tidy and would have definitely ate here but needed to get home. I had one thing on my mind - a Padrino Wrap - crispy chicken, fresh mozz, and roasted red peppers and fries. You might be thinking this guy went all the way over there for a wrap and didn't get any pizza. If the wrap is any indication of the rest of the cooking/prep and values this place maintained over the years - even under new ownership - I am willing to bet that the pizza now is still just as good as it was years ago. Don't sleep on this place - if you're visiting or from the area, Lubrano's is the casual Italian dining spot.

Due to the late pickup they were closed once I got home. Called today to see if anything could be done since I didn't eat it. Nope. Not even willing to remake it with another type of cheese. We ended up going for a family Sunday lunch and now we go here instead of Longhorn. My parents are picky and they liked it. They also say it's the only restaurant with tomato juice they actually like, which is a bigger deal than it sounds if you know them. Shepherd's pie is good. Wings are great. Still trying to get here for wings happy hour one of these days. Big fan of the seating options too. There's outdoor, tables and booths near the bar, and tables and booths away from the bar, so you can pick depending on who you're with and how loud you want it. Staff took great care of my kid, even sent them off with a to-go cup with a lid and a straw. Friendly, and they actually know the menu when you ask.

Had to ask a bunch of other servers for deserts menu and final bill. Such a poor service from such an established tavern. Food was very average too. This was my fourth time visiting this place and yesterday was the worst. Our nachos were burnt and barely any cheese on it, brownie desert was almost cold and not warm enough and I couldn't find a server to request rewarming it. Flatbread was just okay. Our only saviour were our drinks which were amazing as always. We decided not to order main course, just get a dessert and get out. Overall our anniversary dinner was a disappointment.

I had it delivered, and it looked really good. However, when I sunk my teeth into the slice I was immediately disappointed. The pizza was lukewarm, hard, and tasted like it was a day old. There was definitely no cheese pull coming from this slice. We were both hungry so we ate it, but we had to heat it up to fully enjoy it. You should not have to reheat a 'freshly made' pizza. We called Steves Pizza and let them know of our disappointment. They just argued that we should have come and pick it up ourselves and that they are like 25 mins away. However, they are only a 10 minutes drive depending on traffic. I do not drive because of a disability, so that excuse, regardless, should not have been made. Also, we did not wait to eat the pizza, I ordered it and it came within less than a half hour. So, I wonder how a large pizza can be freshly made, cooked and driven in that short period of time. The person I talked to just made excuses and did not offer any reimbursement. I might try it again because they are close, but just be weary. Make sure you get a fresh pie.
