The Great Wazu - Summer Sandwich

    The Great Wazu

Lunch panic averted -- and what a find!…read more I didn't bring lunch to work and was deep in the "what am I going to eat?" struggle when The Great Wazu popped up in my search. I'll admit, seeing that it was primarily a sandwich shop made me hesitate since I need gluten-free options. But I was thrilled to see they offer gluten-free bread -- and even more relieved when I spoke to the incredibly kind server who walked me through their celiac protocol. As someone who worries about cross-contamination, that conversation alone put me at ease. I originally planned to grab something quick and rush back to work, but I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the place is. For a strip mall location in Parsippany, there's actually plenty of seating, and the atmosphere feels welcoming and comfortable. Bonus: tons of parking, which is always appreciated. The menu has so many tempting options -- sandwiches, wraps, salads, chips, sweet treats, and beverages. Once I saw they had gluten-free bread, I may have gotten a little carried away and ordered two sandwiches: the Walnut Cranberry Chicken Salad and the Italiano. No regrets! Both were generously portioned and packed with flavor. I was especially impressed that they use four slices of gluten-free bread per sandwich -- which is thoughtful since GF slices tend to be smaller. For the price, that extra effort really stood out. I also grabbed a side of coleslaw and their homemade potato salad -- both fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the sandwiches. Friendly service, great gluten-free awareness, generous portions, and lots of variety -- I'm so glad I found this spot. I'll absolutely be back to work my way through more of the menu.

Sandwich was solid. Tried the roast beef insanity which was popular on yelp. Sandwich was under $15 and was fairly substantial. Easily enough for me. Several tables inside. Its located in a place with ample parking.

Parsippany Deli - Shake Hands with Super Solid Sandwich #5!!

A Genuine Taste of Old-School Deli Magic Stepping into…read moreParsippany Deli is like taking a delightful trip back in time. This is the definition of an old-school, old-fashioned deli, right down to the atmosphere and the incredibly old-fashioned staff. As someone who drove up looking for a quick, post-work lunch and is used to the quick pace of a city like Chicago, I was thrilled--this place absolutely didn't miss. The food here is genuinely delicious. I highly recommend the hot pastrami sandwich--it was simply so good!--and the seafood salad sub was excellent, hitting all the right notes for a satisfying lunch. Now, about that old-school experience: I called my order in and, after driving up and eventually snagging a rare parking spot, I walked in about ten minutes later. When I asked about my pick-up order, the initial response from one of the women was a little huff. After clarifying I had called it in, they then began to prepare the order. It's that slightly chaotic, "we'll get to you when we get to you" style, which honestly just adds to the authentic, unhurried, classic charm of the place once you accept the pace. The only minor note was the potato salad. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't my cup of tea; I prefer a different preparation style. But one side dish quirk isn't enough to detract from the overall fantastic experience. If you're in the area and craving a truly authentic, high-quality deli lunch, I would absolutely recommend Parsippany Deli. Go for the hot pastrami sandwich or the seafood salad sub, enjoy the flavor, and embrace the classic deli charm!

The deli is very old school, nothing fancy. There's a counter in the back where you order and there's shelves stocked with chips and drinks. No dining inside. The sandwiches were awesome! My stepson had the #2 with provolone added and I had a Hot Pastrami. First off, the half size of the subs is huge. His turkey sandwich looked like it could feed 2 people. My pastrami on rye was delicious! The meat was very tender with no fat. The prices here are fantastic and the quality of the food is high. If you're looking for sandwiches better than the national franchise stores, stop in here. The service was super friendly as well!

The service was wonderful and welcoming. First the Polish lady behind the counter explained all the hot Polish food prepared in the hot counter, took our order, and cleaned a table for us to sit and eat. The young man that charged our order was the sweetest and served everyone with a smile. I wanted to taste Pierogis as I always heard about them so I ordered a variety of them with sour cream. They reminded me of steamed Chinese Dumplings but with different fillings...beef, cheese, mushroom & sauerkraut, cheese & potato. My favorite was the potato & cheese. Hubby had an amazing fresh & huge Chicken Cutlet sandwich...yummy! Last the prices are truly reasonable.

It's one of those places locals will recommend without hesitation, and once you go, you get it. This is a small, classic deli where you order, grab your food, and go. Honestly, that's part of the charm. It feels authentic in the best way possible. Just a solid, well-run spot that focuses on doing one thing really well: making incredible sandwiches. Everything tastes fresh, the portions are generous, and the quality is exactly what you want from a true Jersey deli. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Places like this are getting harder to find, and Longfellow's has managed to stay a staple in the Morristown community for a reason.
