I've been wanting to get to the Parsippany Deli for a long time since there are so many great reviews for it. I picked up sandwiches for me and my stepson for lunch yesterday. The deli is very old school, nothing fancy. There's a counter in the back where you order and there's shelves stocked with chips and drinks. No dining inside. The sandwiches were awesome! My stepson had the #2 with provolone added and I had a Hot Pastrami. First off, the half size of the subs is huge. His turkey sandwich looked like it could feed 2 people. My pastrami on rye was delicious! The meat was very tender with no fat. The prices here are fantastic and the quality of the food is high. If you're looking for sandwiches better than the national franchise stores, stop in here. The service was super friendly as well! read more

I have patronized the Parsippany Deli for decades. Everything there - subs, sandwiches, salads - is top notch. Quality. Tasty. Fresh. And, in a world where everything is expensive, reasonably priced. The only minor note was the potato salad. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't my cup of tea; I prefer a different preparation style. Super Solid Sandwich Shop that also happens to sell a bunch of other stuff with one of the smallest parking lots I have ever tried to park in. Did I also mention that the Sandwiches here are Freakin' Amazing? So yeah, all that other stuff just doesn't even matter!! I was in the area and decided to stop in for a sub. My bf has been coming here for years and swears by this deli as one of the best around. This mom and pop deli is not much to look at from the outside.They have free parking out front with several spots they share with another business. Once inside you can see why they call this place The Parsippany Deli/ Emerald Gifts aka The Irish Deli. As soon as you walk in the front door, they have a glass counter that displays beautiful China from Ireland. They sell teas, marmalade, sausages, bacon, black and white pudding, Irish candies, also Brennan's bread. During the month of March they make and sell homemade Irish Soda Bread. As you make your way to the front counter you will meet owner Eddie, and Avril. They were both very friendly and told me about their business. Posted on the counter is their sandwich and salad menus. The Parsippany deli/Emerald gifts has been in business for 56 years, now I know why. Their prices are reasonable, and everything is homemade. They also do catering. They roast all their own meats like Roast Beef, Turkey Breast, and Baked Virginia Ham. I highly suggest getting a half of a sub. It's as big as most whole subs.This place doesn't skimp on their meats, just the opposite. When I got home and opened up my sub I was pleasantly surprised, and couldn't believe how much meat was on it. It was probably one of the best Italian subs I've ever had and I've been all over for subs. I ordered their Italian Sub - Ham, Salami, Capocollo they call it Hot Ham, and Cheese. I got mine with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo, oil and vinegar. It was really delicious. I wound up eating a half of a half and saved the rest for later. My bf ordered their Roast Beef n American Cheese Sub. The Roast Beef was cooked perfectly rare and piled on the sandwich with lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar. He enjoyed it so much he ate the entire thing. I also ordered 2 of their homemade salads. Macaroni and Potato Salad. The macaroni was my favorite. It was rich and creamy. This place is so random. I thought I walked into the wrong store. Just look at the photos, and you'll know what I mean. It's part convenience store, part sub shop and part department store?? They have random dinnerware along with picture frames and Irish music CDs - none of which were Riverdance unfortunately. After getting over the initial shock, I finally made my way up to the counter. It's a bit cramped up there. Nonetheless, I was finally able to order my usual "Italian sub with everything, including a bit of mayo and hot peppers" Definitely got a good serving of meat in there. Just a local deli that also sells Irish themed merchandise, but they make one of the better sandwiches you can get in the area. Good quality name-brand meats and cheeses, good bread, and they put a lot on the sandwich. Some places put a mere two slices of meat and one slice of cheese . . . not this place. Good salads as well, but the big favorite is their cole slaw. It's great on sloppys or when I make pulled pork sandwiches at home I get it, but also good on its own as is their potato salad. read more

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! In short, it's awesome. Yes it's random with the gift shop inside, yes the owners are a little old school and looked at me funny (I'm a tattoo'd Asian guy), but their sandwiches are big, delicious and well priced. We usually get turkey and cheese subs and they don't skimp. Bread is fresh and the meat is layered on, as well as any fixings you want. Price is great for what you get too. read more

Got platters of sandwiches from Eddie the owner who is sweet and very accommodating for our tumor support group. The sandwiches were yummy and fresh. They had ample varieties of sandwiches and my favorite was the Italian combo. The platter came packed filled to the top and they provided condiments and server ware. So delicious and fresh and fast. The sandwich had a generous amount of meat and the price wasn't too bad, but those are the only positive things I can say. I had a bad feeling when I saw the corned beef being sliced and thrown in the microwave, but since I ordered it I paid and hoped for the best. I took a bite and while it was bland I thought it wasn't awful. It still was cold so I opened the sandwich to heat it a little more and saw the meat was turning green!
