So, I used the Yelp app to find this really cool place. We got there at 5 pm and the parking lot was empty. We were like, "Is this a good sign or what?" Anyway, hubby and I went in and the host greeted us. The place was super cute and clean, and the service was fast. Around 5:30, people started coming in. We started with the Phat Fries, and everything we ordered was delicious. We even went back the next morning for breakfast. Where has this place been hiding in jasper tx?? At the rear of a Rv Resort. We stumbled upon this cafe while on our way to the lake. After checking out the website and menu, we new we had to stop. This place is so nice. Staff were super friendly. We ordered a couple beers, the muffuletta and the Ruben. Omg wow making our taste buds soar. The food is farm to table fresh made by hand. You can tell the difference between frozen prepackaged to the amazing fresh food. They serve alcohol and beer. Check out the menus I am posting. Plus the have a Facebook page with more pictures of what they have to offer. Outdoor seating looking out to a driving range and pond. Such a beautiful view. Cute little store from at the front of the cafe with a candy station too. Can't wait to stop by and try some of the appetizers, drink specials and explore more of the menu! Short version: one of the best restaurants I've been too and I've travelled the world and lived in big cities and towns so small they dont have a stoplights. I'm from Houston. We spent the last week in Woodville.  Cafe 257 is the best dining experience I've had in years and well worth the drive to Jasper.  The food was fantastic and the wait and kitchen staff were among the best I've dealt with.  I'd be shocked if there was a better restaurant within two hours drive in any direction and I'm struggling to think of a better one in Houston, Dallas, Lufkin, or Lake Charles. My wife has some food allergies.  I called in advance and the chef and server worked together to put together a menu specific for my wife.  We ordered a handful of entrees and appetizers and all shared.  There is not a single thing that we had that I would not recommend.  Even something as simple as the fries blew other fries our the water.   You can tell that the ingredients are all fresh and the food is made in house.  I usually feel bloated and greasy after eating fried foods but after eating my fill of their Phrizzle fries, I just wanted more.   My wife had plain fries.  No seasoning other than salt and even those ones tasted better than other fries. I've seen some reviews complaining about the price.  Those people apparently think that no burger or pizza should cost more than what you would get a McDonalds or Little Caesars.   At Cafe 257 those will run you a couple dollars more but they'll be made in house and you can taste the difference.  We have a toddler and an infant.  They had high -chairs and booster seats available and they were clean and well-cared for.  The kid's menu has the staples, i.e. burger, pizza, nuggets. But they're actually just smaller versions of the main menu items.  Not something prepackaged and tossed in a microwave. read more

We just moved here not to long ago and have been making our way to the restaurants around, this is HANDS DOWN one of the best places I've ever eaten, the food is so good it can't be put into words! I get to travel the country for work and I get to eat a lot of places, I'm so happy to have such a good place with such nice service so close to home. Great food, clean restaurant. We have eaten at almost every restaurant for 100 miles in every direction. This is in the number one spot.
