Finally tried Cafe Zupas, came in with my mom one day for lunch after shopping nearby. It was a cold winter day so I really wanted soup. I got the choose two option with a full sandwich (bacon avocado chicken) that I asked for on wheat as well as the Wisconsin cauliflower soup. The soup was excellent and hearty, exactly what I was hoping for. The sandwich was really sad looking and tasting, had a basic roll (they gave me white) and legitimately tasted like a microwave sandwich. I didn't finish the sandwich but the soup was awesome. So I'd say come for soup, pass on the sandwiches. However they do give you a chocolate dipped strawberry on the side which is a nice touch! read more

The bathrooms don't lock. Someone walked in on me and saw me going to the bathroom! There was atleast four pieces of hair in my food and it tasted dry! The service was very lazy and didn't even care when I went out to tell them the issue. read more

I went to the Cafe Zupas in Eagan today for lunch. I asked about the try two and if there was an option to I've a large soup and half sandwich. They said unfortunately there was not, but they did say if I didn't finish it all I could get a to go container. They are always super friendly and I asked what they recommended today. They said you can never go worn with the Wisconsin cauliflower soup with bacon and cheese. I also ordered the brisket sandwich with avocado. Definitely a new favorite. They had these rocky road brownies that looked delicious so I got one for my admin at the office. The tables were super clean and the rest of the seating area was clean. Not a single piece of trash on tue floor. I gotta say if you haven't tried this one take the time and stop in. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been eating at Zupas for a while but this Eagan location is horrible. My soup is not filled like it should be and the mango berry salad I ordered, got absolutely no berries (some of these extra blueberries came from my fridge). This was also the second time this has happened to me at the same store. I saw the worker purposely dump out more fruit from the spoon she was using and I am beyond unsatisfied. For paying $14 for just that, was a complete ripoff and I don't think I will ever be coming back this location. read more

We ended up at this site a few nights ago on Tuesday because the restaurant we went to ran out of soup. Due to some health issues, my 91 year old mother can only eat liquids. We showed up around 7-7:30 pm, the first thing I notice was three crumpled up napkins laying on the floor as we walked in by the door. I figured that they had a busy night. We found a table. Only one other table had people at it. I've never eaten here. I ordered the chicken with avocado sandwich and the mushroom soup! I LOVED the mushroom soup!!! My mom ordered the cauliflower soup. She ate the whole bowl. We were happy with the service in the line and the food. We ordered soup/sandwiches to go. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The thing I cant get over is that we saw three employees walk by the napkins on the floor and NEVER pick them up. One was bringing food outside 2x and walked right past the napkins. You can't miss them. The other was an employee who visited a employee eating food with a child in the restaurant and the other was a male who walked outside to empty the trash. He walked right by the garbage on the floor 2x. I know the staff is young and may not be invested. But, if I was the owner, I would not want this. We also became concerned when we saw a young female working with gloves on at the register. Twice, she walked outside to deliver food holding on to two doors with her gloves. She came in and handled the chocolate strawberries with what we believed to be the same gloves she used to exchange money at the register, hold the doors etc. The food was great. I went to Zupas in Eagan today. I had 2 Combo Sandwich and soup. The person making the sandwich, first wiped off the dirty counter with a rag with his gloves on. He also wiped his gloves on his dirty apron and across on the counter, then he started making my sandwich with the same gloves on. I watched another worker who found lettuce on the counter, she picked it up and put it back in the container to serve customers. I did not order a salad. I picked out the soup that had just been filled, the other soups were almost empty. I asked for a new sandwich to be made, with clean gloves on. I think a lot of people could get sick from workers using dirty gloves to make food. I just had food poisoning recently and don't want to have that again! read more

I adore fresh ingredients and unique selections. Imagine how tickled pink I was to see this joint on Door Dash, with 40min left to order, after our flight was pushed back a day. I hurried through the menu, made selections, changed them, changed them again & eventually ended up with 2 try 2 combos, 2 desserts and a water. Combo 1: Cuban & pumpkin chorizo soup - hubs was beyond satisfied. The soup was particularly tasty and appreciated on a chilly NYE. Combo 2: Chicken enchilada chili and cobb salad. The soup was, again, divine. Not overly spicy, instead opting for well developed flavors. The salad, my absolute can't pass it up if I see it, cobb salad... well, formed chicken from a place that clearly prides itself in fresh ingredients took the wind out of my sails. Added negative, (or is it subtracted?), he boiled egg had the vinegar taste you get at the continental hotel breakfast. Otherwise, a delicious salad - the greens were bright and crisp, bacon crunchy & not greasy, with a zesty salad dressing to round it off. The bread for dipping is a nice touch. My husband noted that it was soft and chewy. The already dripped strawberry is a brilliant sweet treat to wrap everything up. We ordered desserts but were too full to eat them. Hello breakfast! Zupas is very similar concept to Panera bread except I think zupas is overall better in terms of options and price. They have a "combo" option where you can pick a whole sandwich and soup for about $9 and at Panera they have a similar "pick two" option but you only get half a sandwich and soup. There are a lot of good soup choices as well, probably around 8-10 you can choose from. The mushroom bisque soup and chicken tortilla soups are good! Butter roll could be warmed up, it was cold when we got ours. The meals come with a Butter roll and a chocolate covered strawberry. Ambience: very modern seating area, clean bathrooms, lots of lighting Service: fast and responsive Food: good for a fast food restaurant, little more expensive than expected but fair if you compare to similar places like Panera bread. read more

Staff is friendly and despite being busy service was pretty good. The salads are always good. It would be nice if soups were made with corn starch or a thickening agent that is not flour so they could be gluten free. There are no gluten free bread items. Also I was at the Eagan location 2 days in a row and could see that areas that needed cleaning (backs of chairs, bathrooms and napkin dispenser, soda / pop dispenser ) had not been cleaned from the day before. The staff needed to refill the mixed greens container while I was in line and did not follow food service guidelines as in they dumped the fresh supply of greens on top of the old rather than dumping the older greens on top of the fresh which ensures that food gets rotated and stays fresher ( I have worked in food service and know that is recommended for food safety) so combining that with the general overall cleanliness of the customer areas I will be hesitant to return. read more

TAKE OUT WAS SO DANG EASY! Didn't have to fight all the angry people at chipotle and stand next to the cashier while they are checking others who ordered in person out. In fact- I ordered online and when I went to pick up there was an actual designated place for it! Clean- quick- no employee interaction- Being an introvert myself this was amazing. Since Covid, eating out has been fraught with uncertainty. Cafe Zupas is doing it right- taking your order curbside (or online) and bringing your order to your car. Everyone in masks too. The servers were patient and friendly, even when the iPad was running slow. Much appreciated! The food was SO good and fresh! I had a pick-2, Thai steak salad and Red pepper/lobster bisque. It was a hearty portion and came in a plastic container with dividers so my food didn't touch. Included was a nice roll and a chocolate -covered strawberry! Y'all. Wow. The young folks working here are loving their jobs and I can't get over how professional and eager to assist they ALL were. First time ordering, and was feeling overwhelmed and awkward. Kylie, at the front of the line was so patient and made the stressful menu simplified. She was so enthusiastic! Yes it is a little bit on the spendy side for a soup, salad and sandwich place - but they deliver on quality. My four faves from here are: cauliflower Mac (so flavorful and filling), berry salad (I love the added cinnamon almonds), the ultimate grilled cheese, and the chicken enchilada chili. There's much to like about Zupas. It's done with soups/sandwiches/and salads what Chipotle did with Mexican fare. You step up to the counter, place your order, and watch it being assembled fresh right in front of you. They have a variety of fresh salads, soups, and sandwiches/paninis for you to choose from, as well as combos. I ordered the chicken pesto panini and their chicken garden chop salad. Both were fresh and delicious. I expected a bit more taste from the sandwich. Many have commented that this is a step-up from Panera. I would agree on one-hand. Included with your meal is a little baguette and a Belgian-chocolate covered strawberry (which is a wonderful little treat). However, the interior is metallic and cold, much like many Chipotles. It's not exactly warm and inviting, which is the way I would describe Panera. The other downside is that depending upon what time you get here, you may be in for a long line. Since they assemble everything once you order it, the line can get really long. Still, we had a great meal, and I would return here again. They have some interesting looking infusion beverages, scrumptious looking desserts, and a charging bar where you can charge your electronics. I'd also be curious to know if you can modify your salad. They're very careful about putting their salads together in the right proportion - weighing and measuring and mixing. I'd like to know, for example, if I really like pecans, could I have them added to my chicken chop salad, for example? It would be nice to be able to have a bit more control over the ingredients that are all set out before you. read more

I've only been here once- but really enjoyed it!! Their Cuban sandwich is a twist on a normal Cuban, and it was phenomenal! The oork, the ham, and the citrus dijon- yum. The Chipotle chicken salad was also really good. The portion sizes are good. I did the "choose two" and for $10, it's a good amount of food. Their house drinks are unique, healthy, and delicious. Many unique menu options is really nice! Employees were friendly, parking in the area is plentiful, and it was clean. Very busy during Friday lunch hour, but moved pretty fast! I've seen these popping up around the cities, and I've been wondering, "what, is it just a soup place? Do I want to go somewhere for soup?" Then more recently I've added, "...if it's GOOD soup, totally!" So I ducked in on an unseasonably chilly April day and sussed out what their deal is. It's "sandwiches, salads, and soups". It's fast-casual with a counter assembly line, and the signs urge you to first order sandwiches and/or salads, and then pick up some soup before you reckon with the cashier. And the salad spread is impressive; it takes up most of the counter, and it's all assembled carefully by the crew (an extremely friendly and attentive crew) from really fresh-looking ingredients. I spent more than I thought I would. These are not Chipotle prices or even Panera prices. I got a sandwich/soup combo plus a dessert and a drink, and my total was a hair under $18. But it was tasty, especially that soup. You can request samples, and once I arrived at the clam chowder sample I was sold. It tasted so good! My spread also came with a roll, and as a nice little signature touch, a chocolate-covered strawberry. Their drink options include some house-made honey-sweetened beverages in addition to a standard soda fountain. I opted for one of the house-made drinks, which was a citrus-y water thing. Some people will find it too mild and deficient in sugar, but that is exactly what they're going for and I was very satisfied. So now, when I'm driving by a Zupas in the future, I'll be fondly reminded of that awesome clam chowder, of the diligent & helpful staff, and of the compelling option of lightly-sweetened citrus beverage. Honestly, I was not impressed with Cafe Zupa's. I was truly looking forward to it when I first ordered from this restaurant. It looked so good on the menu and website but it wasn't that way when I got it. This is a soup and sandwich place, shouldn't it be the best soup and sandwich you've ate if that's their specialty, but it's average at best. Sorry, maybe it would be better going into the restaurant but nowadays your food delivered should be as good as if you're sitting in the restaurant. I didn't get a chance to visit an actual Cafe Zupas but my company bought me lunch from there one day. One colleague described Zupas as a step up to Panera, and she may be right. Zupas offers sandwiches, salads and soups and what not. I had the crab avocado melt and it was delicious. What's awesome is Zupas includes a strawberry dipped in chocolate with the sandwich, so it's a nice (and yummy) touch to the entree. Since they're a chain, I hope Cafe Zupas eventually expands to Virginia. I loved the sandwich I had, and any excuse to get a chocolate-dipped strawberry is worth it. Haha! JV read more
