Dinner! Tuesday March 25, 2025
Tod K.

Tuesday March 25, 2025 we came here to try the food. We ordered the Kalbi and the Kim Chee Fried Rice. It's easier to park on the road if you can find an open parking stall on Keeaumoku or on Kanunu Street by the former Ross's store. The service was fast and friendly by the waiter Jay? Jae? The Kalbi was well marinated and the Kim Chee Fried Rice has a good taste to it. Next time, we will try the Stir Fried Spicy Squid and the Meat Jun. It was a good experience here and we will come back again. Always support local whenever possible. The ambiance is casual and comfortable the way we like it.

This place is an awesome spot for a small group to do karaoke and have some grindz without breaking the bank. No room rental fee, just pay $1/ song. To get service, pick up the phone and someone will come take your order. They came so quick too! Staff are what make this experience so awesome. They are friendly, provide fast service and are so patient with explaining how the karaoke machine works. They also kept refilling our water jugs. The food was tasty. The song menu was pretty extensive. The soju drinks were yummy (get the apple lime!). The location is central and a lot of businesses share the parking lot so it will fill up at peak times. The only downside was the bathroom. It's like something out of Times Square NYC/ Requiem of a Dream. We went in pairs bc it felt sketchy, it was filthy and the stalls' doors hit my knees when I was using the toilet (I'm only 5'2"!!). That's not Gangnam's fault tho, it's the shopping plaza that should do a renovation on it. Overall a great night and the staff are wonderful!

Every time I come here, I'm given such excellent service! The staff here is so attentive and friendly. They're food is great, and their drink selection is also great. They do get busy towards the late at night, so if you're coming here to eat, I recommend coming in before 9 pm. The only downside here is the price of their foods and drinks. They are on the more expensive side, but their portions are pretty large. I usually street park about a block away and walk over since they're free after 6 pm (I believe). If you decide to park in the complex, there is a small fee.

Super awesome service and food! Vibes are the best, ambiance is lively and the food is super authentic. 10000/10 would recommend.

Gangnam is my favorite bar. They recently started selling vapes which is great because they stay open longer than the vape shops. The drinks are also very cheap. Ask for their bottle prices which will save you a lot of money instead of buying shots every time. My favorite thing to eat here is the spicy squid somen. The noodles are perfect every time! This place is definitely worth visiting. Also the karaoke rooms are free!

Great vibes, great drinks, and friendly staff. Perfect spot to unwind will definitely be back!

Pollak stew and rolled egg omelette

Definitely a go to spot for late night foods and drinks! Servers are very friendly and the foods awesome! Vibes are good and they play good music too!

I will tell you, there is not much bars that give good service! And this place is one that I can say, even though it was relatively busy, We got some great customer service! Shoutout to the servers, Nikki and KALEO! They handle! Haha Their menu is very simple and self explanatory. The food is simply amazing! Nothing too insane, but when you have a nice drink in your hand then it really doesn't matter what the food is like. They have a numerous amount of sojus as well. I tried the Lychee Yogurt and it was my favorite!!! Meat jun was nice and soft. Kim chee fried rice is always scary for me because I can't tolerate spice well. I still got it and it was perfectly seasoned. The furikake and the egg really made it pop and gave the little hint of salt it really needs. The mandoo was nice and THICK, you can tell it must be homemade because it tastes like fresh ingredients! The only thing that was basic was the steak. It did need a touch of salt, but I loved the grilled onions. Overall, the ambiance was lively and clean. The bathroom was interesting to say the least, but still well maintained! I will definitely be back again for some good bites and a good soju! And I want to stress it again, KALEO AND NIKKI killed it with their service! I enjoy the small touches like Kaleo pouring me the canned soda in front of me! I am all about that small elevated touches of service! Thank you again!

Honestly the best karaoke/ bar to go to. The staff is super friendly and the ambiance is 10/10. If you are looking to celebrate any special occasion, I recommend Café Gangnam ! Their song selections range from 90's hiphop to Kpop

Great food, drinks, and staff. Shoutout to Ayame, Simon, Hamilton, and others for the excellent service! Parking is limited so be prepared to find street parking if lot is full. Fan of their garlic fries, pan-fried mochiko chicken, spicy mayo chicken karaage, and popcorn (not on menu.).

My friends and I were chilling on the beach Saturday to catch the sunset and decided to try to go for karaoke last minute. I called around a couple places and was excited to see Cafe Gangnam had a room available. I guess karaoke isn't as popular of an activity here? If this was SF there's no way I'd be able to get a private karaoke room reservation Saturday night on the same day. We booked their large room (seats up to 10 people) for 2 hours at 7:30. There is a paid parking lot, but it's shared across the whole plaza, and there's a ton of restaurants, so there's definitely not enough spots. We ended up parking across the street for free in the Walmart parking garage. First thing I noticed upon walking in is that it's also a bar and restaurant that happens to have some private karaoke rooms. The price is very afforable here; they don't charge for the room itself (there's also no food or drink minimum), only for the number of songs you sing. It costs $1 per song, and you pay by putting cash into the machine. I've been to a lot of private karaoke spots and have never seen this method of charging before. They offer food and drinks, but we just got the seafood pancake ($10) and the spicy rice cakes ($13) to share. Both were good. The rice cakes were a bit on the sweet side and not that spicy. You choose songs by searching either by artist or song title on the TV screen. It was a bit confusing for us initially to figure out how to look up and input songs, but after a couple of mishaps we eventually figured it out. They also have books, but it was much easier to search on the screen. They offer songs in many different languages, but we primarily just looked at the American songs. Sadly the song selection was a bit limited. They had some random new songs but not everything. Each song was accompanied by a video that looked like it was straight out of a kpop music video. We were pretty amused the entire time. We sang 25 songs for the two hours we were here, so $25 is such a good deal for just the karaoke portion.

Walking in, it was dark, cozy, smelling delicious and it was Full House. We were seated quickly with servers that were friendly & fast. We picked the menu option on page 1, $77 per person lunch set menu that includes 4 types of meat, steam eggs, kimchi pancake, different dipping sauces; including bean paste dipping sauce and raw garlic slices and abundant Banchan little appetizer dishes. The meats were fresh and tasty. The spicy cold noodles were refreshing, and all the Banchan little dishes offered lots of varieties and refillable. You know this place is authentic when you have bean paste dipping sauce and raw garlic slices. They are not trying to tailor to westerners. The grill was hot, the meat was sizzling and the food kept coming. We ate as much as we can, and there were so much food, at the end. We were about to explode. I really enjoy the Korean comfort foods! 4 stars for the food, soups, and ban chan, 5 stars if the service was great. Typical service you will get at a Korean spot but no complaints. Just gotta be patient for ban chan refills or if you need anything else, I don't expect much just happy that I get to have my Korean food. During this recent Saturday visit, I decided to go here for our late lunch, after hiking Koko Head Trail & Makapuu. It was about 4:30 pm, we were the only ones there, but it filled up pretty quick an and they do have many take out and Uber/Door Dash orders. My favorites here are the combo set, choice of soondubu (combination, kim chee, spam, beef, sausage, clam,) & either meat jun, fried mandoo, bulgogi, yellow corvina, seafood jun, or BBQ chicken. The combo use to be $20.55 my first time but now went up to $23.55, hence the increase, it is still a great deal, this meal comes with rice and 5 different ban chan. This combo was more than enough for the both of us. My favorite is the spam soondubu ( yes. who picks Spam right?! hehe) & the seafood Jun. Although it so hard to decide since all the choices are good, I will have to visit again for the other selection. The other half and I cannot eat an entire combo set by ourselves. I love the ban chan, especially the daikon & kim chee, so fresh and crispy! When I first dined here, I was surprise to see they give you a fresh egg to crack in your soondubu soup, I am use to the egg already in there. We always have leftover soondu soup which I take home and add to my Korean ramen the next day, so good! Support this local mom & pop restaurant, So Gong Dong has been around for the longest time just only recently I've discovered it. I will be back for the next Korean soondubu, ban chan fix!

For the meats, the beef brisket and beef toro were the stars, but the beef chuck was slightly tough and dry. They were also out of bulgogi, which was disappointing. The pork had a really strong boar taint smell/taste, which completely turned me off from ordering any of the pork. We had to ask for more meat and banchan refills multiple times. There was usually a pretty noticeable lag before anything came out, which was frustrating for an AYCE spot. They also seemed to be selective about which banchans they would refill. They would bring more of the dishes like kimchi and cucumber, but when we asked for more tuna mac, they wouldn't give us any. It also looked like there were only two people working while there were probably around 10 tables during the Tuesday lunch rush, so I do think they were understaffed.
