Beer selection with a very friendly pup!

We happily stumbled across this delightful cafe in Jordaan. The atmosphere is cozy, interesting and very relaxed with many regulars. The beer, toasties and coffee were great. The staff were so friendly and the cherry on top was Rik, who took great care of us. The atmosphere in the restaurant was so warm and inviting and Rik had a great sense of humor and pulled up a stool to chat with us a couple of times. We loved absolutely loved our meal here and would be back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend during your time in Amsterdam!

Lekker lekker!

Charming and cozy café! They serve good coffee and lekker lekker sandwiches! Its a perfect place for a short lunch break. We had a avocado-mustard-sandwich with old amsterdam-cheece, it was very tasty!

It is a charming cafe in the Jordan area. Perfect for coffee and lunch. They also has outdoor sitting when the weather is nice and is a percent spot for people watching in the Jordan area. For lunch, they have a wide selection of sandwishes and they are all reasonable price from 3 to 6 euros. Since it is in the Jordan area, it normally become quite crowded at night time and it opens until 3 am in the weekend.

Nice friendly place with cheap beers and finger food! Recommended if you are in the Jordaan district.

Review Highlights - Café De Tuin

The bitterballen was solid, but the more bitterballen I try, the more I feel that it's a relatively easy food to get right.

So good I stopped by twice on a 3 day trip to the city…read more I stopped by on my first visit craving a big, hearty sandwich for a late lunch and thought this might be a good find. Happy to report I was very right. I grabbed one of the many outside seats, took a look at the menu that was entirely in Dutch and waited for the wonderful waitress to quickly translate nearly every item for me. I landed on the chicken club and it hit the spot. I arrived hungry but could still only manage to finish half. Chicken was grilled perfectly into thin slices, soft boiled egg was a new touch that I loved, avocado, lettuce and probably a few other things I am forgetting. Oh, and a handful of crisps on the side. On my next visit, it was my last night in Amsterdam and I still haven't tried the infamous fries. I stopped in around 9:30 for a late night snack and a hot ginger tea. The fries were the perfect fries! Thin, crispy, salty. I loved. I also can get behind the mayo thing they do here, even though I really am a ketchup loyalist. Anyway, lunch or dinner or late night snack, this is a good spot. You'll like the foot and you'll love sitting outside people watching, reading your book, whatever.
