This is the cutest alley I've ever walked down. It's great for groups and happy hour. Friendly staff as well. Highly recommended for locals and tourists.

What an incredible find! I absolutely loved the ambiance, so creative and eclectic. Our bartender was incredible as well very chatty and busy too! We had the bitterballs they were so good the mustard had so much flavor wish I knew what kinds it was I might be back in a few weeks!

Stopped in for a lunch on a gorgeous day after walking tour in city central. A little hard to given its entrance in a small alley like side street. Look harder; it's worth it. They have outdoor seating in the alley like walkway, indoors in a pub like setting, or in a brighter atrium covered patio. A big place by central Amsterdam standards. I had the traditional herring with onions and potato salad. My companion had a walnut and goat cheese salad. Both very yummy. Accompanying were fruit juice shakes. My Strawberry Banana really hit the spot. Very uncrowded on a weekday noon. Friendly waitress. Would definitely eat here again.

Local cafe which makes me feel like stepping into a bar at montmatre paris. I like it for: - the vibe (very french) - the interior - food - luve music (jazz etc) If you are home sick from.paris, this is the perfect solution.

Cafe Zeppos is a lovely European fusion restaurant hidden on a quiet alley. The alley is named after Gebed Zonder End (Prayer without End) which is in reference to the convent that stood here in the 17th century. This friendly cafe is in the center of the tourist zone and nearby University of Amsterdam. My Dutchman toke me here last night spontaneously for dinner. The waiters were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we did not make reservations, but the staff was still kind enough to still seat us with the best seats in the house, despite it being full. Zeppos menu is diverse with a variety of dishes to appease all appetites. Although, I have Celiac I was very fortunate to find many wonderful dishes on the menu to compliment my dietary issues.

After having a meal that I have no recollection of actually eating, we headed down an allyway that was next to the cafe (I'm starting to actually remember the place now) and come to this place. I managed to convince my brother to have a beer before we made our way back to the hotel. Well, it ended up being this place, and this place is your classic hole in the wall European bar, namely because it is hidden down an alleyway and is basically a hole in the wall. Like a lot of these bars this is more than just a beer bar, but they certainly do serve beer - I know because I drank one. The thing is that this place is actually pretty cool, even if it is only because it is hidden down an alleyway. The other thing with this bar is that it had some pretty cool decorations that did give it a bit of character, however it is the alleyway location that really gives it some character.

Not sure what else is on the menu as we just ordered apple pie with whipped cream. A single slice is plenty for two people. It is not overly sweet, the crust is really good (a slight taste of Biscoff cookies to me), and it has a few raisins in it as well. It was a nice night nice so we sat outside. The patio is large and seats plenty. The service is good, not great, but I was okay with it. My needs were meager - get my pie! N*joy!

I'd say about 95% of the people were ordering the apple pie, so of course we had to get one to see what the hype was about. The apple pie is pretty unique, it's basically a big chunk of cooked apple topped with a sweet, crumbly cookie like crust. The flavor reminded me of those little brown biscuits you get as airplane snacks... basically Biscoff cookies. lol!!! Overall, you really taste the natural apple flavor along with that Biscoff like cookie flavor. The pie itself isn't very sweet, which I actually liked, but adding some whipped cream definitely brings up the sweetness and makes it even better. The setup is pretty straightforward: get in line, order and pay, pick up your food, then find your own seat. It's definitely a popular spot, so be prepared for the crowd and a bit of a wait.

Happy to report I was very right. I grabbed one of the many outside seats, took a look at the menu that was entirely in Dutch and waited for the wonderful waitress to quickly translate nearly every item for me. I landed on the chicken club and it hit the spot. I arrived hungry but could still only manage to finish half. Chicken was grilled perfectly into thin slices, soft boiled egg was a new touch that I loved, avocado, lettuce and probably a few other things I am forgetting. Oh, and a handful of crisps on the side. On my next visit, it was my last night in Amsterdam and I still haven't tried the infamous fries. I stopped in around 9:30 for a late night snack and a hot ginger tea. The fries were the perfect fries! Thin, crispy, salty. I loved. I also can get behind the mayo thing they do here, even though I really am a ketchup loyalist. Anyway, lunch or dinner or late night snack, this is a good spot. You'll like the foot and you'll love sitting outside people watching, reading your book, whatever.
