I came to Cafe Coqui for the first time the other day because some friends of mine really like to eat breakfast here. I can't speak to the food because I didn't eat anything during my visit so this review is based off of the coffee and the ambiance as well as the service. The whole coffee flight concept is an awesome idea! Especially to coffee lovers who want to try more than one thing. A really, really solid idea that more places should pick up on. This is honestly what impressed me the most. Also, they're really creative about their coffee options. I love that there is a coquito latte, and initially that was what I was going to order but then I saw an iced nutella foam latte on there and that won my vote. I'm not really sure what i was expecting. It was beautifully presented and I love that it was not sweet, it was just right. The consistency however was more like a milkshake rather than an iced coffee and after having half of it I was already over it; its very rich. It's a small place with indoor and outdoor seating. I like that they have that Morro design inside just like in Puerto Rico. Service was friendly and timely. I do plan to come back again and try one of their sandwiches. read more

First time visiting Cafe Coqui in Avalon Park. The place looks very clean and plain. Not the cozy vibe I would expect from a coffee shop. I ordered the Pistachio Cold Foam ice latte and a ham, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich and my husband ordered the dulce de leche iced latte and a bistec Bistec Sandwich. Everything was really good. What a sweet place! They have a lot of different sweet options from which to choose. They're pretty good too. The smell reminded me of a bakery in the town in which I grew up. So far, the donuts were my favorite. They also have lunch items and coffee, neither of which I was able to try yet. One person had a coffee flight which looked amazing and I've been trying to plan a trip to try that. The first visit was great as they were patient with picking out goodies. On the 2nd visit, the girl seemed kind of annoyed that I was there. It was 30 minutes till closing, but still. So service kind of depends on the attitude of the person working at the time. They do have a rewards program, but the cashier was in a hurry and kind of skipped over all that and didn't give me a chance to sign up. Absolutely gorgeous and delicious coffee and food! Ambiance outside was super cute, definitely a bit underwhelmingly decorated inside. Servers barely spoke English and kicked us out abruptly, as they closed really early. Wouldn't even let us inside to use the bathroom real quick while they closed. We came here for breakfast one morning. We were greeted kindly. I asked the server whether she recommended the bacon or sausage and she said the little sausages were really good. They were Vienna sausages, the kind you get out of a can. Not what I was expecting for breakfast sausage. The potatoes were very plain. My husband had the sausage with eggs and potatoes and was also not very excited by the meal. They have good coffee, and I am told that they have great pastries. Finally, I made it to Cafe Coqui, and it did not disappoint! This cute café is in Downtown Avalon Park across from the new Marketplace. But it's sooo much better, in my opinion. It's cozy, quiet, clean aesthetic, pleasant, and cute. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. Inside, there is also a small bar top where you can enjoy your treats & beverages while looking outside. The service was great. I did not see mallorcas (Puerto Rican sweet buns dusted with powdered sugar), I asked, was told they were proofing & needed 2 more hours. I told her I'd be back. When I returned, she remembered me & my request. I ordered two mallorcas both with powdered sugar. I did want the guava and cheese but I will save that for another visit. Service was, not great they had a few ladies in from not baristas at all and were not very interested in taking my order, and when they did acknowledge they were in a rush for me to order. We also ordered the Bacon egg and cheese- which was good. Order didn't take long. You do have to carry your own flight to the table, it's heavy and take your time. Matcha- not too sweet, earthy| enjoyed Coco loco- so good Coquito- was not feeling this one just tasted like ice coffee, was expecting more coconut creaminess- like coquito with some coffee. Pistachio- different- has a mouthfeel but good once you get all the flavors. The flight was $21 and I feel like that was expensive because these are small goblets, we paid roughly $5 each. If it wasn't for the variety of flavors and the hot food being good I would give a 3 star. The donut holes weren't as fluffy as we were expecting. This is a great neighborhood coffee shop in Avalon Park. They are Spanish inspired, which reflects in their pastries and drinks as well as their decor. It is a small space but they do have outside seating as well. The workers are very friendly and are happy to help you. What I really love about this place is that on certain days they have coffee flights where you can try all different creative flavors. When I went, I tried their bread pudding and it was delicious. I finally tried the coffee flight, the coffee/espresso ,not sure, in these 4 drinks seems very settled, which is how I drink my coffee (sometimes more milk than coffee) so that didn't bother me. However I can see how others may not like it. My Kids love coming here for a quick breakfast sandwich, or pancakes/waffles. The staff here is nice and always very accommodating. I've tried giving this place several chances, but I never manage to leave satisfied. Today, after many months without visiting, I stopped by just to get a coffee -- how hard can that be, right? Well, first they sell me a 16 oz coffee, but they don't even have cups for it, so they split it into two smaller cups. Then the coffee was cold, so I asked if they could heat it up, and the employee told me they didn't have a microwave -- that the only thing she could do was add more hot milk. Seriously? What I want is hot coffee, for goodness' sake. On top of that, the employee had a terrible attitude and no intention whatsoever of keeping their customer's happy. Stopped by for an afternoon coffee, there was only another pair of people in so it was quiet during our stop. The employees were kind and patient as we reviewed our options. I tried the Nutella cream iced latte and it was such a great choice. I never knew I needed Nutella cream on a latte, but now I can't imagine not having it. We ordered 2 sandwiches of scrambled eggs with bacon, cheese on pan sabao. The bread is so delicious and good enough to be eaten by itself. The eggs, were not good. We had to return one of the sandwiches because the eggs were not scrambled. There is a difference between, mixing the eggs on the grill and scrambling it first. Makes a big difference! But even when they redid it, it still wasn't good. 2 little strips of bacon , not cook all the way. Not worth it. This place is so beautiful. I love the creative way of incorporating one of the staples of Puerto Rico. This is a Puerto Rican coffee shop and everything, from my experience, was authentic. The best Puerto Rican breakfast in East Orlando. I has The Classic Breakfast which includes 2 eggs (scrambled or fried) sausage or bacon and garlic potatoes with 3 pieces of toasted "pan sobao". My husband had a media noche sandwich with Puerto Rican style oatmeal and berries. We drank hot chocolate and iced coffee and it was all delicious. Service was great, we didn't wait too long even though the restaurant was busy. I also love the fort they have for decor, it makes the restaurant feel more authentic. One of my favorite cafes so far! The food was amazing, especially the potatoes on the side. They were so so flavorful and immediately had us hooked! We also ordered a coffee flight. The croissant was hard and it was barely warm when it arrived. One niece ordered the ham, egg and cheese sandwich. It came with plain ruffle potato chips. Chips with a breakfast sandwich, no bueno. Service was okay. Don't expect warm and fuzzy. Bill total was $85 for 4 of us (3 sandwiches, a classic egg platter, a flight of ice coffees and an OJ. Had to grab our own napkins. We've seen this cafe on Tik Tok quite a bit so we decided to drive 35 min to see for ourselves. It's pretty small about 4 tables inside and 6 outside. The face that there was no AC bothered me. Our friends recommended us to visit this place in Avalon and I'm so glad we did! So many places try to mimic authentic Puerto Rican coffee and food but this place nails it! The coffee is tasty and the pastries, even better! The inside is a mix of modern with a touch of Puerto Rican staples, and the Coquí sound is such a cute touch! While here, we ordered a few different things, and the nice young lady behind the countered offered me to try a piece of their cake and SO.GOOD. Give Publix a rest and please please get your next cake from here! The food is simple but it's so delicious. I wish they had a little bit more seating inside, but there's plenty of outside seating tucked away right off of the Main Street in Avalon, making it the perfect patio spot. Puerto Rican artists were featured in the music, and the decor showed some classic monuments of Isla Del Encanto. The baristas were very friendly when taking my order and brought our coffee to us. The coffee was GOOD! I have been to many places that use flavored syrups as a way to try and disguise bad coffee, but that is not the case here.
