The restaurant is located with the popular St. Nicholas Cathedral facade. The outdoor patio seating is what I would recommend so that you once gaze the Praha's culture and people. The menu has many options with decent drinks selection. Service was smooth and prompt.

Very good coffee. We ordered the crepe and the croissant and were pleasantly surprised with both. Great spot, right beside a massive church as well as a great spot to people watch.

SF and I were walking around Prague and got really hungry during lunch time. We settled to eat here since it was close by the touristy areas, which was probably already a mistake, but we were tired and hot by that time. Sitting inside wasn't any better. This was early August and temperatures were 95 degrees. We ordered a Radler and a Diet coke which was really refreshing.. until it was 40 minutes after the fact that we were still waiting for our food. I ordered their pork and dumpling dish while SF ordered a chicken club sandwich. They were about $16 USD for each dish which was surprisingly expensive for Prague. Thankfully when the food did finally come out, it was pretty tasty! There was plenty of pork meat on my dish with this brown gravy and the dumplings out in four. There was a sweet side of vegetables that complemented the dish very well. I was pretty satisfied with my plate of food. SF's sandwich was also really big! There was chicken in addition to slices of deli meat. It was so filling that we didn't even finish his fries that were pretty similar to McDonald fries. I would give this place a better rating, but considering the 40 minute wait for our food, the pricy dishes, and no AC, that's why. I would walk further away from the touristy areas if you want traditional Czech dishes for a better price and better service.

A busy local cafe/restaurant Food was above average, Croque Madame had a garlic mayonnaise on it that was over powering, fries were cold. Cakes looked amazing - photos don't do the justice - they tasted amazing

Ghoulash - Prague Traditional Cuisine (3/5)

Prague is epic, truly one of the best places in Europe to visit. But it's not my favorite place to eat. It might take time for me to really get an appreciation for Czech cuisine. Cafe 22 has a nice ambiance in the very busy Malá Strana district, just blocks from Charles Bridge. They serve the traditional Ghoulash, which very much like a beef stew in a bread bowl. It was generally fine - not too memorable but adequate. Fortunately, Prague has given us an endless array of reasons to visit, even if food is not high on the list.

We came strictly for caffeine and cake, so that's all this review will be based on. It was kind of late in the day when we stopped in - we left the castle complex right around closing time, so it was probably closer to 6 pm by the time we made our way down here, having stopped to look at menus of other restaurants along the way. The day was still mild and sunny, so we decided to sit outside. One of the things I love about Prague restaurants is that they have the blankets on the chairs, in case the weather changes while you're dining, and you need something to keep you warm. I wouldn't use one, but I love that they're there, anyway. But, I digress. The waiter came out to greet us right after we sat down, and handed over some menus. He then told us he'd give us some time with them, and wandered off. I mention this only because it seems to be common for waiters to ask for your drink order the second your behind hits the chair. I'm guessing they all expect you to say, "Pivo, prosím!", but it' nice to be given time to think. We each decided on a hot drink (the hubs went with a powerful, put-hair-on-your-chest espresso, and I went with a hot chocolate) while we waited to ask the waiter about the "cake of the day". When he came back, he told us that there were several, and that we'd have to go inside to look at the display. So, inside we headed. There were indeed several options to choose from, but I eventually settled on a slice of the Honey Cake, while the hubs went with a slice of the carrot cake. We placed our order with the waiter (who had been hovering nearby), and went back to the patio to reclaim our seats. One note - I did have to utilize the loo while we were waiting. It's down a rather steep flight of steps, and once you hit the bottom, you're in the bathroom. There's no door, and there are only three or four stalls (I didn't stop to count). Each stall has a representation of a male or female on it, so you hope that people stick to the drawings when they choose a stall. It's not terrible, just kind of a shock for this American girl. Plus, they weren't exactly clean. I won't even tell you what I encountered upon entering the first female stall I saw... Anyway, back up top, our waiter brought our drinks first, which were then quickly followed by our cake slices. He told me that I had ordered a Czech specialty, and that the cake was made with local honey. I was thrilled - I had ordered it because it looked tasty, not even realizing that it had significance. The cake was delicious, and surprisingly light. The honey flavor was very mild, and it was moist without being dense. I had no problem polishing it off. My husband's carrot cake was good, but definitely not the kind of carrot cake he had expected. There's a definite Czech flair - spices and candied carrots - added to it. He did like it, but said it took a couple bites to get past his expectations. Our waiter was super friendly. He came out to chat with us a bit about where we were from, what we had been up to, and what we thought of the city. We then chatted a bit about the weather (and here I thought it was only Londoners who could talk forever about the weather!) Chatting with him was a nice finish to our quick stop at Cafe 22.

    American breakfast

Great food and well made. I had the American breakfast which came with two fried sunny side up eggs, sausage and ham, toast, two small potato pancakes, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Everything was very tasty and the fresh orange juice made the breakfast even better! Can't remember the last time I had fresh oj. Service was fast and the price is decent for what you get.

This is a cute little cafe although the food I wasn't so fond of. I had the steak and mash. The mash was creamy but bland. The steak was bland as well too. The restaurant has a cozy feel to it. I spent $27 American for just ok food!

    Patio with tram passing by.

Situated across the Charles bridge on the otherwise of d town near the tram. This is a much more mellow area, less tourist, but still has the bustling city feel. This cute cafe serves breakfast, healthy options like the fruit, yogurt and granola. They also have good cocktails and if of course dinner. Perfect for morning coffee, sit on he patio and people watch then walk around and explore:)

They had some pretty nice food and options for foreigners who want to indulge in the local food or eat what they are familiar with. I tried one of the local food that was recommended by the server and it turned out great. The salmon tartare was my favorite because it was very very very good.

Get the fresh squeezed orange juice. We got the American breakfast, it was incredible right down to those tiny little tomatoes tasted home grown.

Cafe is located in one of those old small Lesser town houses. It has a cool decoration. Staff is friendly and very nice but communication among them is bad and they are slow. One waiter takes an order and it takes ages to the other one to bring it and when he brings it so there is something missing (like one coffee). The same with meals. One meal was supposed to be ham and egges omelette and they brought ham and eggs. It was good though. Meals are definitely worth stopping by. Menu is not long. They have only few sandwiches, salads and pancakes plus one soup and burger. And breakfast menu (it´s that cursed ham and eggs). But all these items are pretty delicious. Especially burger surprised me. It was huge (it could be actually smaller), pretty good (cheddar was missing) and pretty cheap considering the location. But I didn´t actually expect a good burger here (I was just curious when I ordered it) and voila. Surprise, surprise. Otherwise I also recommend salmon sandwich and dill soup. It was a nice experience to visit this place but I don´t think I will return. There are other places like this one where service works just fine, prices are friendly and quality is also on a high level.

Aside from the proprietor, myself and one other customer, this quaint cafe was devoid of other guests. They carry a handful of different dessert options, mostly cakes and a few pastries and one or two quiches made by the owner herself.
