I had an old Macbook I was considering revitalizing and wanted some advice on whether it would be worth spending money on. I looked around online for a good place to go and found two places in town. CADNY had great reviews on here as well as google so I decided to go with them. Ed is the owner and met with me despite the short notice (he usually only does appointments). I found him to be friendly and knowledgeable. He gave me a free estimate on what it would cost to fix up my Mac. He told me my Mac was useable if I replaced the battery and pointed out it would run slow due to it's age (something I had noticed). The computer would need replacing after a year or two though because the OS would become unsupported by Apple. He quoted me $75-100 for a new battery and power cord (my power cord had died long ago). Great price IMO! His advice was straight forward and his dogs he had in his office were super sweet. Overall, I really liked his service and would recommend anyone go to him. Ed is awesome. He's straight to the point and may come off as a bit gruff but he wants to avoid confusion and make sure everybody's expectations are met. I am pretty tech-savvy and pretty much diagnosed it myself but wanted somebody to confirm that it was a logic board issue. Simply Mac wanted $50 just to look at my MacBook Pro, despite the fact that I had the logic board replaced once already, and Ed looked at it for free. He was honest and even gave me some money-saving advice when he could have easily made decent money off of me. Hopefully I will not have the occasion to use his services again but if I do have any hardware failures (or the money to not deal with it myself), I will most definitely go back to CADNY. read more

At Ed's suggestion I bought a refurbished Dell laptop with a next day 3 year warranty. One year out I experienced trouble and contacted Ed. He looked at the computer and told me that I needed to contact and deal with Dell myself, refused to give me any support. When I expressed my dismay (in a polite way)about the fact that the computer had problems and he was unwilling to lend a hand, he actually behaved in a very unprofessional way and yelled at me, saying that "he did not want to hear my shit". I've just moved to Arcata and our iMac broke down unexpectedly. Since I didn't know much about the area, searching for a reliable repair service seems impossible especially during COVID. Most people posted for repair services are mainly for laptops or someone working out of a garage or spare room in the house. I wanted a legit repair shop that stands behind their work. Ed met that requirement, legit with a business, has a shop and company car. When I brought the iMac to him, he listened carefully to my non-techie description of what the problem is, then described in a technical way what the problem could be, patiently until I totally understood him. He gave me a very realistic estimated time and cost. After the diagnosis he provided me several repair options to consider. He helped me make the best decision (the cheaper one) based on my budget and lifetime of the iMac, not his pocket book. The repair was speedy with no miscommunications between us at all. After getting it back and booted it up, it worked exactly the way he described. Ed is very detailed, he makes sure he understands the problem even from a non technical person, before going ahead, and makes sure I understand him in return. Ed was the last one left to us so we decided to give him a try and when one of our desktops needed attention.
