Easy, cheap, and convenient way to your your way through bar harbor village and the national park…read moreof Acadia. We picked up our first bus at the Village Green and road it up to the visitor center where we switched buses to Cadillac Mt, Sand Beach, Thunder Cove. The bus drivers were friendly and eager to assist. The maps provided were helpful as well. The timing of the buses though we were told we're never really on time, we found some to be on time, and others not so much. But we can't complain. Best of all it's free! But don't forget to tip to help keep it free.

I had a minor meltdown upon check-in bc it appeared they had given our room to someone else and we called to complain to the manager, Josh, who upgraded us and was SO nice. Our new room was beautiful in the main building with a gorgeous view of the water. They had a welcome card for me and chocolates and a small gift for my birthday. We were impressed with everything here. Staff were friendly. Rooms are beautiful and well-appointed and comfortable and upgraded. Room cleaning was prompt and efficient (they were in and out within an hour of our walking out every day). Their lobby has games to play, newspapers, and 24/7 access to hot chocolate, fresh coffee, and fresh water and sparkling water on tap as well as a nice business center/printer computer. The women's restroom even had personal items out if you needed them. The rooms are unique and the architecture is different. Very charming hotel in a very charming town. The included continental breakfast was one of the nicest I've had included in a room charge in a long time. Large selection of fresh pastries, hot items, cold items, coffee, juice and tea as well as fruits always being replenished with care and attention. We enjoyed everything about this hotel. Thank you to Josh, Ashley and even Tyler who gave us a history lesson about the inn and the town. We will be back.

The whole property was cozy, quiet and relaxing. Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the water. Service: Welcoming and kind door people upon arrival, and the front desk staff was very helpful and provided all the most useful information. The bartender at the Oasis lounge was the perfect level of chatty but let us also have our own conversation. Every staff member we encountered seemed dedicated to hospitality. Location: Could not be better. Walking distance to everything in town but right on the water and perfect access to the shore path. Ample parking. Other notes. The continental breakfast was phenomenal. No hot items but they had delicious ham and cheese croissants, spinach and cheese pastries, yogurt dishes and heaps of fresh berries to keep you fueled up for a great day. Tasty coffee and everything was well stocked. This place cannot be beat. Folks usually only leave reviews for hotels when they have something to complain about but I do not have one such thing. I've stayed in a lot of the area hotels over the years and haven't had this happen before, although it's probably not uncommon during peak season, the first weekend in August. There was no waiting at check-in, just after 3pm, although I suspect because check in was most likely actually at 4 pm. My first floor room, an ocean front king, was clean and cool. There was a view of the pool and ocean, yet it was far enough away to be quiet, away from the noise at the busy pool area. The outside of the building isn't what I'd call attractive, however, the grounds are neatly landscaped and the view of the ocean and pool is lovely. It's dog friendly; although I left mine at home, I could hear dogs barking in some rooms as I left for dinner but it wasn't a problem as it was silent at night. I was given a $15 breakfast voucher for the restaurant (I suspect because the reservation at the original hotel included breakfast) but didn't use it because I got up and checked out early to go hiking in Acadia. Check out was problem free as well. It is close to College of the Atlantic and a bit of a walk from town. I would recommend the BH Regency and would stay there again.

We wanted a way to explore the park and thought that a tour would be the best option. They offer a…read morestandard tour and a premium tour. We chose the premium tour which is between 3 1/2 to 4 hours and has 4 stops vs. the classic tour which is 2 1/2 hours long and has 3 stops. The narration is very good and the tour guide knew his stuff. I just felt that the tour was geared for people with limited mobility. During the stops, we didn't really have enough time to explore.....especially on the last stop (Jordan Pond House). They have a restaurant there with a beautiful outdoor area on the water. It is famous for its popovers. I thought for sure, we would be able to sit down a little and have some, but the tour guide talks about the popovers and then says, we won't have time to try them. My friend and I ordered them anyway and brought them to the bus to eat. So all in all, the tour was good, but if you want a more active visit to the park, you should check other options. If you take this company's tours, the shorter version would be sufficient, and then maybe you could do some exploring on your own.

It…read moresays that it's a 2 hour cruise but, in total, to include getting on and off the boat, we were only out for about an hour and a half. We went at sunset and it's amazingly beautiful. The staff is obviously a working staff and they get the passengers involved by having us help with lifting the sails (if you'd like to volunteer). That part was fun and it's a lot of arm work. Very safe journey. Do bring a jacket with you because it does get cold on the water.

On our trip it started to rain and we got wet, not soaked but just enough to make it uncomfortable. The temperature does drop about 10-15 degrees once you leave the dock. The standing temperature was 68 degrees when we left the dock, with the sun setting, rain and lower temperatures of the bay it got into the mid 50's on the water. So dress accordingly.

First of all, the view, if you manage to get a room from the water view side is SPECTACULAR. You just get a gorgeous view of the bay. The rooms are clean enough and they all have balconies so perfect for an afternoon coffee/tea/soda break. I found the staff to be very friendly except for this one older lady who sits in the back and just gives everyone the mean eye. Perhaps she treats people of non-caucasian ethnicities, OR younger people differently? I didn't really see her give the same stink eye to older white people who were in line ahead of me. Didn't matter, she was a fright for the eye but the front staff whom we had to deal with were ALWAYS pleasant and accommodating. The nice thing about the lounge/front desk area is that there is always coffee and tea and if you get it before 4pm, cookies! The snickerdoodles seem to get picked up the quickest. The cleaning staff were pleasant enough. We only had a single cleaning during our 5 day visit and it was fine. The daily breakfast is one of the best parts of this lodge. You get a hot continental that always has eggs and then some sort of meat like bacon or sausage and a grain staple like pancakes or pancake dunkers. They have fruit and yogurt cups up for grabs. You can get cereal, granola, coffee, tea, juice, milk on your own and they always have a nice selection of small pastries like muffins, croissants, and bagels. I really have to give the kitchen staff credit, they work SO HARD. Like, literally way harder than what I expect they are being paid at a place like this. They are constantly wiping things down, refilling the buffet and stocking up the packaged options. They are answering questions from staff, helping them get utensils, helping them clear tables and cleaning the floors. I truly wish I had workers in my job site that worked as hard as they do. Seriously big props for an impressive group! Finally, you really can't beat the distance. It is a really short drive into Bar Harbor and to Acadia as well as to multiple shops. For the price, for the view, for the breakfast, it was well worth it. Cons: one extremely slow elevator and whether you use the stairs or the elevator, you may still have a bit of a trek to your room as the building is more horizontal than vertical. Also, you literally have to ask for new towels and coffee and tea, every day. Yikes, It gets to be a bit of a pain. At least, if you ask for more up front because you say you will be staying for x # of days, usually I have seen that they will just grab a bunch for you. The mean old lady as noted above. Despite those cons, I would absolutely stay here again. Just be wary of coming back late. While you will find parking, you'll have to park further away in their large lot. Not a big deal, just adds 3 minutes walking time.
