We rented this house for our 4th trip to Bar Harbor - our first trip bringing two young children…read more The house is fantastic. It was perfectly clean with comfortable beds and pillows - it's clear that the owners also stay here and they care about the comfort level. It's beautiful and secluded, which was great for us since we have young children; no noise from others, and nobody bothered if we had a crying baby. The DVDs, games, and book selections were greatly appreciated - it's just so nice to have those things already on hand for rainy days or early evenings in. And the location was good too, just about a 10 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor. One thing I would note is that although the website boasts a "stone chimney and wood stove" for "cooler nights," guest use of these was not permitted while we were there. It wasn't a big deal for us, but if it is for you, you might want to ask about that. They do have central heat, which we did need to use in early June. Another thing I would note is there is no Wi-Fi, so unless you have an iphone it's hard to call places or google rainy-day stuff to do. There are internet cafes in downtown Bar Harbor but of course that's ten minutes away. So you might want to do your research and come armed with addresses and telephone numbers of local places. If you do that, it's kind of nice to have a week away from the internet. Last - bring bug spray, it is in the woods. Oh one more thing - the two full bathrooms are nice and big and we were actually able to sleep our baby in the downstairs bathroom, using a monitor. This enabled us to put our toddler in the second bedroom and sleep in the master bedroom ourselves. Definitely recommend this place.

Absolutely a must stay! Called day of; got reservations to the best place in the area. Arrived…read moreafter midnight. Stayed in #21 and 22. Large rooms with a couch, multiple recliners, and stove to enjoy a fire. The views were beautiful! This place was clean with a lovely fully equipped kitchen and renovated bathrooms. The staff were super friendly. The owners loaned us pots to boil our lobster that were freshly caught by the locals. Enjoyed the sunset. Visited nearby Acadia NP. Still family owned, 1 of only 3 in the area. Our family has decided this is the best place we have ever stayed and we have traveled extensively.

Found this place on Yelp (of course!), and I was immediately attracted to its waterside location…read moreand the fact that it wasn't on the main road but on the 'old' Bar Harbor road. David made us very welcome when we arrived and gave us the orientation talk on the island, giving us a couple of local newspapers and marking down worthwhile sights on the maps before showing us to our 'cottage'. I'd actually describe the cottage as more of a beach hut (we had one of the smaller ones), but it had everything in it and was only a few yards from the water's edge with great views over Salisbury Cove. There was a porch with chairs and table where you could sit and watch the sunset. Very pleasant. Inside, the cottage was scrupulously clean, there is a small kitchen area with stove and coffee maker etc. if you wanted to eat in. It could have done with an electric kettle to make tea with, although you could use the coffee maker to boil water I guess. There's a small heater in the wall that we used a few times as we had a couple of rainy days during our stay. Best of all was the shower - great water pressure and piping hot. A great start to the morning. Followed by a cup of complementary coffee from reception, we were all set to go and explore. So thanks to David and Jayne - we really enjoyed our few days here and would gladly return in future.

NEW OWNERS AS OF MARCH 2025…read more If you're looking for a quiet place to rest before catching the sunrise, I highly recommend Eden Valley in Bar Harbor. They offer both motel-style rooms and cottages--though I can only speak to the motel room, as I didn't stay in a cottage. I met the two new owners, sisters from New York, who were actively making upgrades and working on the landscaping. They were incredibly kind and accommodating, even placing me in a room away from other guests so I could enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. The room was clean and comfortable, with great amenities. The bed was cozy, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the rate was very reasonable--about $100 with tax. The only downside was the water pressure in the shower and a slight delay before the hot water kicked in. Other than that, no complaints. Check-in was super convenient. Instead of keys or cards, they use a keypad system with a code programmed specifically for each guest--reset after every stay. Great for travelers who are in and out. There's no on-site restaurant, but the motel is only five minutes from town. The property features a scenic view of a field and trees, plus a pond and small play structure. If you're planning to spend most of your time exploring the area and just need a quiet, comfortable place to sleep, this is a fantastic choice. Good parking, great people, and a relaxing environment. Would 100% stay again.

I stayed here for 3 nights and honestly, the first night already ruined it for me. Around midnight,…read moreafter a long, tiring day of hiking, we were told we had to switch rooms because they had placed us in the wrong one. We had to pack up everything and move from Room 6 to Room 27 in the middle of the night. And to make things worse, they gave us the wrong key code to the new room, so we were stuck outside for a while. What really made the experience worse was the lack of professionalism from John, the person in charge. He wasn't helpful, never apologized, and didn't seem to care at all about the inconvenience. Not even a "sorry" after making us do all that at midnight. It was a very frustrating and disappointing start to our trip. I would not recommend staying here, especially if you're expecting basic hospitality and accountability.
