We stayed in a cottage without a kitchenette but used a kitchen on the property that was open to guests. We also used grills on the property a few nights. The room itself is incredibly clean and comfortable. It offers everything you'll need for the perfect getaway. The owners are extremely kind and will give great advice on local restaurants and sites to visit.

Called directly when I saw their email and they were rude and defensive saying there was no sense of urgency on my part. There was nothing they could do to rectify going against their word. Try another rental agency :)

It was perfectly clean with comfortable beds and pillows - it's clear that the owners also stay here and they care about the comfort level. It's beautiful and secluded, which was great for us since we have young children; no noise from others, and nobody bothered if we had a crying baby. The DVDs, games, and book selections were greatly appreciated - it's just so nice to have those things already on hand for rainy days or early evenings in. And the location was good too, just about a 10 minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor. One thing I would note is that although the website boasts a "stone chimney and wood stove" for "cooler nights," guest use of these was not permitted while we were there. It wasn't a big deal for us, but if it is for you, you might want to ask about that. They do have central heat, which we did need to use in early June. Another thing I would note is there is no Wi-Fi, so unless you have an iphone it's hard to call places or google rainy-day stuff to do. There are internet cafes in downtown Bar Harbor but of course that's ten minutes away. So you might want to do your research and come armed with addresses and telephone numbers of local places. If you do that, it's kind of nice to have a week away from the internet. Last - bring bug spray, it is in the woods. Oh one more thing - the two full bathrooms are nice and big and we were actually able to sleep our baby in the downstairs bathroom, using a monitor. This enabled us to put our toddler in the second bedroom and sleep in the master bedroom ourselves. Definitely recommend this place.

I asked for a refund of our deposit, as there was no way I was staying here. She then proceeded to swear as her husband and son tried to calm her down. She even hit her husband twice while she screamed at me asking if I was calling her a "fucking liar?" We left. This was too horrible to understand and obviously unsafe, to say the least. They refused to refund the deposit we had sent them in good faith. Do NOT stay here. It's not safe.

Still family owned, 1 of only 3 in the area. Our family has decided this is the best place we have ever stayed and we have traveled extensively.

They offer both motel-style rooms and cottages--though I can only speak to the motel room, as I didn't stay in a cottage. I met the two new owners, sisters from New York, who were actively making upgrades and working on the landscaping. They were incredibly kind and accommodating, even placing me in a room away from other guests so I could enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. The room was clean and comfortable, with great amenities. The bed was cozy, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the rate was very reasonable--about $100 with tax. The only downside was the water pressure in the shower and a slight delay before the hot water kicked in. Other than that, no complaints. Check-in was super convenient. Instead of keys or cards, they use a keypad system with a code programmed specifically for each guest--reset after every stay. Great for travelers who are in and out. There's no on-site restaurant, but the motel is only five minutes from town. The property features a scenic view of a field and trees, plus a pond and small play structure. If you're planning to spend most of your time exploring the area and just need a quiet, comfortable place to sleep, this is a fantastic choice. Good parking, great people, and a relaxing environment. Would 100% stay again.

They also had a Keurig but there were no K cups provided. I really don't think anyone is traveling with their own K-cups........ As someone that looks forward to their morning coffee, huge let down there. I'd like to mention that we got a message before checking in stating that there will be nobody in the office during our stay and if you needed anything to call a phone number. So there's nobody even working there to retrieve anything extra from. 2. Our bed was right in front of the patio door with a big glass window and no curtains or blinds providing any sort of privacy from other guests seeing right into our cottage. We put a towel over the window the entire stay which was quite ridiculous looking but did the job. 3. The bathroom. There was a blood droplet on the floor near the vanity, which tells me the cottages are not being cleaned well in-between guests. This is quite literally a biohazard. Aside from that, the bathroom and everything in it stayed wet our entire 3 day stay from the steam of taking a normal shower. Even with the window open and the fan running. Overall, It just seemed like a lack of care and accommodations for your paying guests. I hate to leave a bad review but this was a huge damper (no pun intended) on an otherwise lovely trip to Maine. Hopefully they can take this into consideration and improve going forward.
