Hmmm...after a few years of being a part of the Dimond Center, I finally visited H&M for "back to…read moreschool shopping." I love that H&M has their own entrance but once inside their space...there seems to be just that...a lot of space. Like more space than clothing options. The escalators leading to their 2nd floor area + wall of windows reminded me of "The North Face," in downtown Anchorage. My 8th grader knows want she wants. Of course we walked up and through the place and could not find any jeans she deemed cool enough. I expected more from this place. Like a better Forever 21?! Prices seemed average for stores of its kind. No one really greeted or bothered us. We'll return on an emergency basis.

When I learned this store was opening in my home town, I squealed. Seriously. I love clothes, but I…read morehave to be frugal. H&M is like the mothership for my kind. I mean, I waited in line a freaking hour to check it out. The fact that I was drinking before this made the absurdity of my wait seem almost normal. Still. It's a testament to my dedication. I don't know that I've ever been to an H&M I didn't like. They are pretty uniform, and they always have pieces I love, ranging from unique/trendy to basic/functional styles. I buy tees and funky pants, jewelry and hats, etc. This store is no different, except it's brand new and literally gleams. I can't speak for their men's wear or kid's section. And yes, their clothes are occasionally of dubious quality. Do most people expect a five dollar pair of pleather joggers will last long? But with some selective purchasing (meaning I didn't buy the joggers), you can find stuff that will last at least long enough to justify the purchase. And I have some items from them I've owned for years. This store has a better layout than some, which makes negotiating the racks easier. It's packed with options but still feels open. I like their dancy music--even when they don't have a DJ, it's all a good, up contemporary mix. I like their cute staff, very friendly, helpful (if somewhat uninformed of stock items, since it's brand new). A couple had some fierce style, which I always enjoy as a customer. I like that they took a leap with Dimond, and hope it's part of a trend for updating the mall Long live Hennes & Mauritz!

I am in Alaska for vacation and since most of my vacations incorporate some thrifting/antiquing…read moreshopping I decided to Yelp some nearby locations. This store popped up and we decided to stop by. FYI there is a coffee/soda shop next door (another review for that place also done). This store was in a plaza, plenty of parking spots. At first entrance once inside, it looks tiny and the way things are set up, I was thinking that prices were going to be expensive. Don't be fooled, it may look small but there are a lot of great finds. This particular store is focused on women clothing, accessories and some home knick knacks. There is also another FashionPact that is HUGE and has kids and mens clothing, books, home goods, etc... But back to this location...everything is organized by sizes, they are inclusive and also have a plus section. FashionPact has a section by the front door that features items that they have posted on their social media accounts. If you fell in love with the item, you can come into the store and purchase or also they can ship the item to you. Check out their accounts to get details. At first, you think this is like all other thrift stores but two cool things that make their store stand out. They have dynamic pricing. You see the price of the item listed at the top of the tag, then if the item is not sold by the date listed, the price is reduced. If the item is still not sold, then the third price listed is the final purchase price. Such a simple concept, but it made me realize that their purpose is to sell merchandise and leave space available for new donations. Plus, in selling then money could be donated which brings me to the second cool thing about this store. As a buyer, you can pick which local organization gets a percentage of your total purchase. If you donate clothes, you also get to choose. Shopping and choosing where to donate makes you feel good. They have a screen at the top of the register that shows the local organizations, but if you want to know more about the groups, they have an iPad next to the register so you can read more about the groups. They have the organizations divided by categories such as, animals, arts, education, etc. There are so many choices and all groups are local! How awesome is this! If you are not too busy shopping, all throughout the store, you can spot the thank you cards/letters/drawings from these organizations for the donations. I went twice, back to back to this location and got so many good deals. Scratch that, steals. Good clothing and accessories for under $10, but most were under $5. My brag from this store was a Columbia pink fleece zip up jacket with tags for $5, wow!!!!!! The other items that I also purchased were used but in excellent condition or with tags. The sales associate was sorting through donations and when I came back the next day, there was a lot of new items in my size section. SOOOOOOO sad that there is not a store like this in the Bay Area. I did tell them they should open one up and they said that they have friends in SF that have told them the same thing. Sadly, rent would be a killer around here. Staff was so nice. I know this place is not touristy but for sure this is a dream store for any thrift store lover. I joked that I could come to Anchorage with an empty luggage and challenge my self to only use clothes bought from any of the FashionPact locations. If you live in the area, lucky you. Stop and donate or shop, you will be helping the local community.

**July 2024: Saturday Afternoon Visit**…read more I almost don't want to review so that I can keep this gem all to myself; however the mission of this thrift shop is so heart warming that it would be a crime not to share. It's a nice boutique and everything is sorted by garment type and size. There is a fitting room for patrons to try on outfits and good music to keep you in a good mood. Pricing is very fair and there's two prices listed on each tag. After a certain date the price cuts to half. On my visit my mom and I were able to snag a couple of half priced items and two full priced ones, which was still a steal. My coat was $10, blouse $5, and I think my mom got two wrap dresses, and a blazer with everything being under $50. Now if that doesn't make you feel great the proceeds go towards a charity in Alaska and you can pick which one your purchases goes towards. We chose the zoo and hope everyone will go support this little shop when visiting Anchorage.

This has been my favorite store since they opened, and I continue to find great items and deals…read morewhenever I come. Once in awhile I don't find anything. Today I scored a pop funk snoopy chef for $10 and some Loungefly Minnie ears. Sign up for their rewards, you get rewards money for your birthday and randomly I guess? Today I had $5 rewards but didn't know! I think you get $5 after spending so much in a year. They also do boxlunch money which is when you spend a certain amount, you get boxlunch money which is $15 off when you spend $30 during a certain period of time. It's only a certain time you can earn it and then the date to redeem it usually lasts a good two weeks and is usually a few months in the future from when you bought it so you don't have to come the next week to spend it. If you buy three items, they will take money off of each item to make $15 rather than just one item even if it is over $30. Always check their clearance section, sometimes it's buy two get two free, today it was 70% off the clearance price tag. I scored some Loungefly Mickey and Minnie ears. They are normally like $50 I got them for $6! The snoopy funko pop was on special (they had a printed piece of paper stating that 5 certain ones were only $10.) but on the website is was on sale for 6.99. But their website doesn't ship to Alaska for free, you have to pay $25 flat rate no matter if you reach their $75 minimum which kind of sucks. Some items you can pick up for free at dimond center but very select few. Better of going to the store. Recently there's a weird constant rattling sound in the ceiling of the store, I hope they get that fixed sooner rather than later but it's been quite a while now. The sales people are pretty helpful. They will ask if you need any help and they watch the counter decently if you want to check out if they are busy doing something else and it's a slow time in the store. But overall you can find tons of Disney items, Harry Potter, Pokémon, all kinds of anime, Star Wars, hello kitty, and so much more. Clothes(they often have buy one get one 30% off) Loungefly backpacks, wallets, kitchen items, cook books, car accessories, baby clothes, pins, jewelry and so so much more!! I'm so happy we have this store as I get my Disney fix.

It says something that my uncle, daughter and grand daughter all walked out with new clothes. I even found a couple of sweatshirts to bum around in. Do the math and that's four generations served by one store. My uncle's new wife won't let me use her name in the review and got mad and yelled at me about it. So, let's call her Mandice. Not because she has massively huge man-feet, but it's just a random name. Right? Point is, that there were shoes that fit those gunboats...and looked great, to boot (see what I did there). She left with a pair of heels, a running shoe and slippers. NR has a new shoe customer, thanks to me (even though she'll never admit it was me). I love the fact that they keep the place clean and orderly. There's a wide variety. The people are very nice to us, but, they do have to pick up the pace at the check out. We went back a second time and it was no better. Still it's a great find for us. 08/23
