I called Payless to inform them about my situation and they stated that I will be able to pick it up on the 15th at 2:30pm. Upon my arrival to Payless they told me they didn't have any cars left. In a joking manner I stated that Puerto Rico hasn't been treating us right due to my airline issues and the lady at the front desk stated that it's not Puerto Rico and that she will be the one telling me no! That there's no cars for me! She was rude about it. The funny thing is they had cars in the back. They also could have told me over the phone when I requested the shuttle to pick us up because they did ask for my name to confirm. I then walked over to Leaseway, their sister company. I was greeted by both Michelle and Emmanuel. They were SOOOO AWESOME, HONEST and VERY EASY GOING. I told them about my problem and they were very understanding and took care of me in a very professional manner. When dropping off the rental they processed me out quickly. The shuttle driver even waited for me when I was processing out. At the end of the day I was highly satisfied with Leaseway and informed them I will be recommending them to friends, family and coworkers for rental cars in Puerto Rico. Turned out we didn't have enough room. So we wanted to upgrade to a van. It was $565 for a regular Kia 5 seater. EXPLAIN TO ME HOW IT WOULD'VE COSED A WHOLE EXTRA $500 to get a van (2 extra seats). So nope we took the car we had. Fuck that. We drove like my Mexican side of the family and just squished hella of us in the car lmao! Anyways after 2 weeks passed, we go to return the car! Everything was in immaculate condition!! The only thing wS the car was a bit dirty, not by actual things! We cleaned all the garbage, just had a little sand here and there from our few beach trips. We arrived at the location fairly quickly. We waited in line for almost 1 hour and there were 3 people working at the front desk. One of the people left for their lunch break while there were 4 people still in line to rent a car and 2 in line to return a car. The folks returning their cars were helped before those who arrived on shuttle before them to receive car. This meant only 1 person working to get folks their rental car. We asked for the largest rental car in our price range and they provided a good option that allowed my 6 foot 4 partner to fit comfortably. We accepted the additional $10 and $3.95 toll usage. If you are traveling across the island enough, as we did, this will be worth the charge. We went all over the island for our vacation and did not have to worry about tolls which was nice. The car was in good condition and clean, but we received a car that was less than 1/2 a tank full and they refused to fill the tank when we requested it as it would be easier to fill up the tank and bring it back vs. guessing how much would be less than 1/2 a tank. They wanted to add an additional insurance charge, but our credit card (American Express) offers insurance so we did not have to accept theirs. Our reservation quote was $125 and we ended up paying $250 for 8 day rental. At the end of the day, if all those fees were provided up front and on the website (where we made the reservation) we would have realized it was significantly more convenient to rent through a car agency that we know well such as Enterprise or even Alamo. The costs seem comparable. Staff are polite and bilingual.

They charged us an extra day simply because they don't have enough employees to keep up with the flow of work. Once I got there to pick up the car I was told that I have to pay almost $8 / daily for highway tolls. I had the car for 8 days and only use the highway tolls the first and last day in P.R. I know by fact that I lost around $48 on tolls that I didn't use ( I live Southwest of P.R., so there isn't any toll). I ask the lady in the front desk if the company could charge me the tolls after they get the charges for my 8 days there. She completely lied stray to my face and said that if I didn't pay the $8 daily I would get fine $50 for every toll I use. This is an abuse against the customers.
