That said, if they were the only rental option available, I would rent from them again because the vehicle itself met my needs. Entered the office right at 12 and was greeted with a long line. Finally was attended at 12:30 and handed over the keys and finalized the contract with employee. When I arrived home I was checking my bank statements and realized they overcharged me. Called customer support on the website and was helped immediately by a very nice representative. After seeing the final contract details we noted that they adjusted our return time to 4:30PM! They charged us an extra day simply because they don't have enough employees to keep up with the flow of work. Thank god I had the idea of taking a photo of the car and contract when I said goodbye to the employee. Otherwise I would lose this claim and be forced to pay an extra day due to negligence. Very unprofessional, the customer service rep helped me file a claim. Now waiting to hear back from the office where I rented the vehicle. Rep mentioned if they don't respond in 4 days I have the authority to escalate the claim through customer service. The office is 1/5 stars but the company overall is pretty solid. This place treats outsiders poorly and leaves them stranded without any remorse. The car rental service here is terrible, so please do me a favor and avoid renting from them. They advertise one price online, but when you arrive, they charge you a different amount. Consider renting from Avis or Budget at the San Juan airport instead; they are much more reliable. I received a call from my little brother, Ismael Gomez, who told me that they left him stranded, and he isn't even from Puerto Rico. It's really sad how tourists are treated here. When we arrived at the location, the representative was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She seemed like she didn't want to be there, gave short responses, and offered almost no information about the process. I was also uncomfortable with them taking a copy of our debit card when we asked why, her only explanation was, "because we have to," which didn't sit right with us. After checking in, she told us to wait outside and someone would bring the car to us. That ended up taking over an hour. Absolutely Terrible Experience - Do Not Use Rent-A-Wreck in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico If I could give zero stars, I would. I made a reservation through Expedia and was charged immediately, only to find out after calling the Rent-A-Wreck location in Aguadilla that there were no cars available. Why was I allowed to book and pay if there were no vehicles to rent? The front desk told me I could request a refund since I never picked up a car--because there was no car to pick up. However, once I tried to get my money back, they completely changed their tune and refused to issue a refund, even after Expedia got involved on my behalf. The customer service was incredibly unhelpful and inconsistent--telling me one thing on the phone and doing another when it came to honoring their word. I was told I'd have to wait four days for a car to become available. That makes absolutely no sense when I'm only in Puerto Rico for a five-day vacation. Completly irresponsable. After 4 weeks I returned the car,I still waiting for my deposit return. Hey... do not expect much from this place... you are renting a wreck, but the service is also a wreck. In the end, the owner of this Rent-a-Car center, owns like 5 different car rental licenses to keep the price high using the wreck as the only cheeper option. This is the 1st review I've ever written about anything, but if I can convince one person to avoid using this company it is worth it. From top to bottom, my experience with rent a wreck was terrible. I traveled to PR with family back in December and needed a rental for the week. With most major car rental companies being booked, or unreasonably priced, I decided to try rent a wreck. What a mistake. When I arrived to PR, the shuttle picked us up and dropped us off at the office which I would describe as complete chaos and confusion. No line, people waiting around all over the place, no one directing traffic for what to do to pick up your car etc. I learned after about 15 minutes of waiting that I needed to sign a clipboard which determined my spot in line. The clipboard had about 50 people ahead of me also waiting. I waited for 4 hours before my name was called and watched as tourist after tourist arrived with the same look on their face as I had-What have I gotten myself into? When I approached the desk, I was told that I needed to buy insurance and that there would be a $250 deposit that I would receive when I returned the car. The quote that I got online and brought to the front desk, and what I was actually charged differed by about $500. When I returned the car without issue, I was told that I would get my deposit back in a few weeks. It is now almost May, and I have yet to receive any deposit despite phone calls to the office and weekly reminders to the staff at Rent a Wreck PR office. I have been assured over the last month by various representatives that they are working on resolving the delay, but with the trip being 4 months ago, I am not optimistic that I will receive anything. Don't fall into the trap. A terribly run rental office that needs to do better. read more
