I really don't write reviews normally but Tekhattan's service was just amazing!…read more My super heavy custom built PC stopped working. I contacted Tekhattan for their on-site service on Saturday around 6pm. They had two technicians (Dan and Alex) out to me that night. The technicians were very courteous, friendly and knowledgable. They were able to set up a time that would fit my schedule; they diagnosed my computer in less than 24 hours-- with their diagnosis they helped me find out what the problem was regarding my PC. Although I decided to move on without their further help, the technicians are bringing my extremely heavy PC tower back to me at my most convenient time. Thank you so much!

He was very calm, very nice. He asked me about my problem and showed up a few hours later. I must have sounded pretty desperate because he had a plan, AND a back up plan, AND Daniel, his associate (showed up shortly Alex arrived). I have a store in Chelsea and my computer data...mui importante! Not only are they extremely good at what they do, they were very reassuring. i felt very comfortable. At my request, Alex called me at 10:30pm to let me that they were successful in recovering my data. They were a perfect antidote for an awful situation. Just awesome!

I'm a student with 1 week left before my semester project is due, and all my work is on a damaged…read morethumb drive. I took the damaged thumb-drive into PC Mac Express for diagnosis to see if it could be fixed. They called back and said it would cost about $400 and there was only a 50/50 chance that it could be recovered. When I picked it up, there was a red wire attached to the board that had not previously been there. I found someone in Canada to look at it and said they would do it for $200 and I'd only have to pay if they recovered the data. The company in Canada attempted to recover the data but said it looks like the other company had done something to the chip and were likely holding the data 'hostage' so that no one else could get the data, so that my only choice was to go back to PC Mac Express. The scope of this technology is out of my range so I don't know what to believe but what I saw with my own two eyes was the extra red wire that had not been there when I dropped it off. When I called PC Mac to question this and what was happening, they claimed nothing had been done and they had not attached any wires. At the end of the day, I didn't get my data back and PC Mac said no work had been done when in fact, I saw that alterations had been made to the thumb drive. I wouldn't ever bring anything to them again because the story doesn't add up. Perhaps something had been done by the people who work for Michael without him being aware, but in that case, nothing was done by Michael to understand the discrepancy.

He was knowledgeable and friendly. He identified the problem as a burned out SSD. He showed me how he determined the cause, and explained why it happens and how to prevent it in the future. He recommended a plan to fix it. Because we still had some time left in the hour, he ran a RAM test and did some tweaking to my RAM settings based on the test. It's not cheap to have them come to your house, but my guy did a good job and saved me a lot of time and uncertainty around what I was doing. I thought it was worth it, and would use these guys next time I have a problem I don't know how to solve.

I had called them several time and each time they gave me a different response. My husband is having a terrible time working from home. We are constantly having to reset our internet for it to work. I finally broke down and told Fios I want to upgrade but now they can't send any technicians because of the shutdown. I called Sterling Rose and after a 5 minute phone call, our internet is back in working order. No need to upgrade. Sterling Rose has helped me with my laptop several times and all remotely. The…read morecrew at Myriad were consistently aware of my own expertise in this field, but were aware that there was much I did not want to have the make the decision on. This led to a quick and seamless initial implementation, with a perfectly short honey-moon period spent with the great support staff to get all the necessary components up to my required levels of configuration and transparency. It's been many months since our office floors were closed up and not a single piece of the infrastructure has had an issue. I've recommended Myriad to my closest friends and expect that yelpers will find that they have a similar positive experience. also, the CEO is a foodie, which helps.

It's almost as if one of the street vendors decided to open up an electronics store and keep the cheapo prices without the haggling. For awhile it wasn't looking good for Chips & Techs. Their dodgy location on 35th was closed for months and it seems their website business went completely offline. Now situated on 37th St in a brand new space, the place looks better than ever. The layout is much easier and their stock of specific generic / OEM parts seems to be of good abundance. This is one of the only stores in which I was able to buy an eSATA cable. Most of the major electronics stores (Western Digital, Best Buy, etc.) didn't even carry it, forcing me to look online where the cost averaged out to be $8.00. I managed to find a generic cable for $2.00 at Chips & Techs and I couldn't have been more satisfied. I recommend calling ahead of time and doing an inventory check prior to any visit, they're usually friendly and patient enough to help one find what they're looking for. Give this place a try for all PC parts a la carte, they're worth trying out.

They are awesome! I…read moresay this because, at this point in my life, I make my living working from my laptop. I also spent the last six months teaching computer courses to seniors and that means I tell them how to avoid getting viruses on their computers. I KNOW not to download strange files or click on weird links. I've got an anti-virus program that runs at a scheduled time every 24 hours. However, my laptop managed to get a nasty virus. I think of it as the same risk as driving a car or using an item that's subject to wear and tear. You're eventually going to get a fender bender or something is going to break. Well, it happened to me this past week. I recognized the problem right away. The issue is I'm still very new to NYC, so I had no idea where to take it. I'd had a problem with the power chord a few weeks ago (it was worn after months of traveling and I needed a new one) but that place I got a replacement chord from didn't open until 11am! Bad, bad call on their part because they're missing a surge of people like me who are up and going before late morning. I went to their competition because an IT specialist recommended Chips & Techs to me earlier that morning. I found the Chips & Tech number on my mobile and called. I described the problem I was having. The guy immediately knew what I was talking about and told me to stop using my computer. Good for me that the night before, I put it into safe mode as soon as I knew something was up and didn't use it much when it started acting up. When I took it in he said he'd just fixed a computer with the same virus the day before. He told me it was a really nasty new Linux-based virus. Their fee was reasonable. I paid and left my dear laptop in their care. They were responsive and called me a couple of times during the day to give me an update. The night before, I'd done my work for the day, so I wasn't too stressed. After I turned it in, I just walked over to the mid-Manhattan library to use the computers there to do my work for the next day. I know fixing this stuff takes time and the last thing I wanted to do was stress someone who is working on the item that basically pays my rent. Please, take your time and fix it right. I called the next morning and my computer was ready. It was great. They made some changes and actually recommend that I do a clean reinstall. I probably will as there is just stuff on this that I don't need. However, what could have been an agonizing situation ended up being just a minor annoyance. I highly recommend these guys when you're in a pinch and need people who are knowledgeable, not too expensive, easy to find and are professional.
