I stopped at this store the other day to buy some fishing waders. The selection of waders was limited and size guide was very hard to understand. After trying on 3 pairs of waders, an employee came over and asked if need help after glaring at me for not putting the waders back in the box exactly as I had found them. She was rude and unfriendly and not helpful in the least bit. I then sat in the checkout line for 10 minutes because only 1 person was working the checkout in the entire store. I finally gave up and went to a sporting goods store down the road that had a much better selection of waders at a cheaper price. I will never step foot in a Cabel'as again. read more

First time customer, I purchased a handgun there today. The sales associate was very helpful and the selection experience was quite pleasant. The less than satisfactory part started with the background check process. I was told the regular person called in sick today so they were kind of scrambling. The lines (background check and pickup) were not super long but it just took forever. The staff helped me seems not very familar with the process. Anyhow, the bottom line is, it took me more than two hours to get the gun after I filled the paperwork. The guy behind me joked that he could bought a house with less time :) read more

Poor customer service and poor product knowledge. The man in the archery department told me what arrows to buy after I asked given my bow. Later, at home I realized he sold me arrows with the wrong spine. (After internet research) When I called to ask if they could replace them they told me no cause they were cut for my length. Even after I explained that I was misinformed they told me to sell them online. What a joke! read more

After having some trouble at Dick's Sporting Goods, I came here looking for a gun for my husband. It was extremely busy, but the men working at the gun counter were super helpful, and they have everyone the service we needed and deserved. Of course, this made the wait time a bit longer, but I didn't mind because once they got to me, they were very helpful and treated me like any other customer (even though I know nothing about guns). One of the staff members was even giving out coupons to the waiting customers. I was really impressed. read more

Poor customer service, lack of employees for the holidays. I tried to purchase my latest firearm and the manager David was rude and unprofessional. For the amount of time I stood in line to be told I need another document for proof. I waited almost 2 hours just to get a back ground check, 6 employees behind the counter, only 2 actually working, and they have 4 stations to perform background checks. Very frustrating. Went and bought a bow this morning. I received excellent help from the bow department.

Worst customer service, I spent $300 and the high school checkers only complained about their schedules and never once said thank you! The staff in the fly shop couldn't be bothered to answer simple question. Hopefully this just growing pains. In the mean time, I will go pack to BPS or order on line read more

I recently purchased a scope from Cabelas and things were fine. On the TV they had a commercial with a $30 off mentioned. I called the store and spoke to customer service and was told my purchase was close enough to the date so bring your receipt in and they will adjust the price. I drove over an hour to get there and was told that my scope did not qualify for the sale. I told them there was nothing mentioned on the ad or by the customer service rep. Still no go. Now I drive another hour to get back home. Over 2 hours completely waste and nothing from Cabelas. Needless to say, I don't plan on going back to Cabelas. Walmart treats you better. read more

Waited anxiously for this store (Thornton, CO) to open. I live 10 minutes north of the place. It is okay. Choices are limited and they appear to be more expensive than other places. Most of the salespersons don't seem to care. I found out today that they won't match the prices of other sporting good stores. I guess I will just continue to shop online at other vendors for my ammo. I will now also drive 40 minutes to Bass Pro to shop for my fishing needs. What a disappointment. read more

Pretty sure everyone who works here hates their job. Every single person I saw was openly surly and unpleasant to customers and each other. I just came in today to exchange a gift, so I started at "Customer Service." 5 employees at the counter, 2 helping customers and 3 clearly laughing and gossiping loudly. One employee finished her transaction and walked away after looking at the line. When it was my turn, I approached the counter only to have a different employee push in front of me without a word, a glance, an excuse me, a go f' yourself; nothing but an elbow. Upon returning to "Customer Service" I witnessed an employee (one of the loud gossipers from earlier) arguing with and being extremely rude to another customer. Stopping to pick up some of the legendary fudge on the way out was just as unsatisfying. Rude woman at the counter was visibly put out to sell me a snack. At the end of each transaction I said thank you to the clerks and they each said "sure," and not another word, no eye contact, nothing. Now I remember why I don't make the drive to come here. read more

Happy Single-Mother's Day for sons who grew up without a father in the household!

I am a long time Cabelas shopper but that might have changed after the experience we had tonight. I bought the Cabelas Covenant 6 x 24 x 50 FFP and when I recieved it the windage adjustment did not work so had to return it which was no big deal. I brought the firearm to the store so when they mounted the optic we could make sure the optic had windage and elevation. Well here is were the story gets good, they mounted the optice which by discription has 40 MOA of adjustment I am using Burris XTR Signature Series Rings which we added 20 MOA to the gun for more adjustment. When the gun service tech come from in back with the gun and optics mounted the rings were pinched down on one side and the other side had a .070 gap. This was the first sign things were going down hill after asking them if they knew how to install these type of rings and both guys said yes we do it all the time. Second I put a lazer bore sight in the barrel and noticed the gun was sighted high and to the left and when I say high almost out of the optic picture Tried to make adjustment and it only had maybe 20 MOA of adjustment not the 40 Advertised. This could be the worst shopping experience ever at Cabelas. I strongly suggest if you know a gun smith go to them these kids have no idea what's going on. Funny thing is they told me to go to one of their competitors to have it mounted right, after he said this I knew I would never be back and now I am returning the optic for a refund and I know they don't read these reviews but they lost a customer due to, People who think they know it all and dont ask questions and when it to much they send you to their competitor. read more

I bought the "Cabelas" brand pellet smoker back in April, and after having used it a grand total of 5 times it stopped feeding the pellets and the temp readout went on the fritz (that happened on the second use). I went to the Thornton store where I bought it to discuss getting it repaired/replaced. When I first bought it, I specifically asked the sales rep if they were reliable. The original person wasn't familiar with them so he went and got someone who either owns one or used one many times. He told me how great they were so I bought one. When I went to discuss repair procedure, the (very young) sales associate informed me that it was widely known that the Cabelas people smokers have problems feeding pellets and I needed to "call the company". I asked to speak with the store manager about it and after the sales associate left to discuss it with the manager, he returned to inform me that the manager was unavailable because he was "busy". Sorry to say, but after 25+ years of doing business with Cabela's I am done. They are now just like every other corporate store and could care less if they lose a customer here or there. read more
