Cabela's is an outdoorsy man or woman's playground. This store is massive and has everything you could ever dream of when it comes to outdoor activities including stuffed real animals standing tall framed around the building. There's even a cafe inside for when you need some extra energy to keep walking around this humongous store. The boyfriend absolutely loves it and could get lost here for hours. Service here is pretty good - they leave you alone for the most part, but there are plenty of folks available to call on when you do have a question. Great location, easy to find off 25 and more than enough parking. Prices are meh - definitely not a discount store by any means, but you would be hard pressed to think of something that they don't have here, so I guess convenience is part of that price tag. read more

Cabela's has historically been a good place to find reasonable prices on camping and fishing gear for me, especially when I don't need much help from the employees at the store. However, it's when I need to rely on the staff for a gun sale, an in-store pick-up or customer service issue that the wheels come off. Most of the staff here aren't the most tech-savvy, so I think it's only fair to cut these folks a bit of a break and be patient. That said, the store doesn't run particulary well. As an example, if you buy a firearm from Caleba's online, you'll need to pick it up from the gun counter as is standard. The problem is, if you need to get in touch with the gun counter via phone, good luck. Also, if you're researching online before you go into the store and make purchase for in-store pick-up that reflects as in-stock at the location you select, they'll still make you wait 2-3 weeks to ship the item to the store instead of picking it off the shelf and having it waiting for you like most other retailers do. All said, Cabela's would greatly benefit from getting with the times. Consumer behavior has changed. They haven't. read more

Everyone was very friendly & helpful. After 2 times in one day of visiting tho & associating with 5 different people, it became obvious that all sales associates were sales competitive for getting employee bonus points & rewards. No one pushed, but it was just obvious after associating with everyone I came across. I want to recommend Evan in the shoe department, he was great & knew his products. I have various foot issues & needed a specific fit of shoe. He worked with me & I went home with the perfect shoe & very happy. I did get their club card that they promoted, the savings was great. I must admit that we only go here for 2 reasons 1) smoker supplies (hello BBQ) and 2) it is a mini aquarium and wildlife exhibit for our one year old. The staff is super friendly and always welcoming. Many customers bring their dogs and that makes a stroll through the store even more entertaining for our son. Where else can you sample fudge, see a waterfall and keep a baby entertained for a hour? - all for free. Granted this may not be why you go to Cabella's, but for us... we will always buy here when we can. We owe them! read more

There is a great view of Denver and various other towns and suburban locations from the parking lot of Cabelas. The building is brand new and impressive looking on the outside. The wind whipping through the area was strong indeed this day (making one feel rugged). Unfortunately, that was pretty much the end of my positive impressions. Upon stepping into the store, I was rather disappointed at how small it actually was. The selection seemed rather limited. Also, the prices appeared quite high, with few sale prices on everyday items. The packs of children wandering the store with noisy pop-guns and duck calls did nothing to enhance the shopping experience. During my whole time in the store (about 30 minutes) not a single sales clerk asked me if I needed assistance. Bottom line: Save your money and go to Bass Pro if you are looking for similar merchandise, but with a larger selection, better service, and lower prices. read more

Driving south from Denver International, I followed the directions on my GPS and turned off I-25 into the town of Lone Tree, CO in search of my hotel. Up on the hillside I spotted a Cabela's store, the world's foremost outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear. Since it was about an hour before check-in time I decided to wander the aisles and kill some time. It turns out that this store had opened up the previous weekend, and they were still celebrating their grand opening with lots of displays and special pricing. Though not as big as other outdoor stores, Cabela's has a different clientele from the typical bass fisherman or deep sea angler, and therefore their selection of merchandise is geared to the fly caster and trout fisherman found in the Western mountains. This particular Cabela's is located in the RidgeGate Commons shopping area, and the store is just over 100,000 square feet. Inside you'll find a massive outdoor retail establishment featuring two 8,000-gallon aquariums, a place to buy bait, boats, hunting dog kennels, an indoor hiking trail, and an indoor archery range. It was great fun to walk through the store and look at all of the camping, hunting, and fishing gear. I found a few tailgating essentials that I ordered in the store, and had them shipped to my home in Florida. (Gotta take advantage of that special sale pricing, ya know!). My wife and I visited Cabela's when we were greeted extremely rudely by an employee named Steve at the front door. He immediately started out talking very condescendingly to us as though we were attacking him because we didn't have masks on during a time when the city had JUST enacted the ordinance forcing masks in stores. When I say the city just enacted the ordinance, it was the same day as our visit. Since we didn't have masks on I said that we'd leave and go shop elsewhere to which Steve replied "GREAT." He proceeded to scream his name and spell it out for me when I asked his name as he wasn't wearing a name tag. It was honestly pretty embarrassing for everyone around at the time who witnessed Steve's breakdown. Not sure why this cabela's gets bad reviews. Been here over a dozen times and have always found the staff to be helpful and they usually have everything that I need. Granted, its not as big as some of the others, but pretty good size and definitely a great add to the area sporting good scene. I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to Cabela's stores. The first one I visited is the massive 150,000 sq. ft. store near Minneapolis. That place will blow you away. So when I visited the Cabela's in Lone Tree I was expecting the same thing. Unfortunately it did not come close. On the positive side the store is well lit, quite large compared to most retail stores, and has a large variety of products for outdoor sports of all types. It also seemed clean and fairly well organized. On the down side there was not nearly as much inventory to choose from as I expected. Many items were only available in one or two colors, or what was left looked picked over. Also, list prices were quite high. $64 for a flannel shirt? Luckily some items were on sale, but a good discount only brought them down to reasonable levels - no bargains. The store has taxidermy and 'western' decor, but it wasn't as extensive as in other stores. And many of the stuffed animals were difficult to view up close. I thought the quality of the taxidermy was also less than expected. Maybe I expected too much? I'll probably visit here again - if they are having a sale. But I cannot afford to shop here on a regular basis. It's easy to get to from I-25, so that is also a plus. But one note on the location - it's at a higher elevation which provides great views of the area but is very windy and colder than the surrounding terrain. read more

Firearm ammunition prices are good, archery prices a bit higher than Bass Pro or Gander Mt. Others have said that their prices on handguns are high - I'm not knowledgeable in that area so will not comment. My wife, sons and I have all found great bargains on footwear, jeans and hoodies - there always seems to be a sale. Staff is helpful, but as others have said avoid the firearms counter on the weekends - it's a madhouse. read more

Zero stars!! Do not shop at this store! I have never been treated so badly ever in my life. I have purchased multiple firearms at this location over the years and have never had an issue. Today I went shopping with my boyfriend that is heavily tattooed. We were treated like second class citizens from the minute we walked into the store. I selected the firearm I wanted to purchase and filled out my application. Was told there was a 10 minute wait. After waiting TWO HOURS, I was told that they elected NOT to sell the firearm to me even though I passed my background check. The reason? My boyfriend handled the gun when we looked at it. So they chose not to sell the gun to me even though I passed my background check. If I had been shopping with anyone else, as I have in the past, I can purchase a firearm with no problem because I have a clean record. Regardless of the fact that my boyfriend can pass the background check if needed as well and offered to run a secondary background. But this store reserves the right to judge you based on appearance regardless of a clean background check. Save your time and money and go to a store that values it's customers!! read more

My husband was in the process of purchasing a hand gun today, 11/21/2023, at Cabela's in Lone Tree from their Gun Library Department. The sales person (not certain if his name is Brandon, but he's tall and bald). After viewing the gun, my husband thought there may have been a crack or defect on it. He proceeded to ask the employee to break the gun down to view the inside of the slide. Not only did the salesman not know how to break the gun down, he didn't want to help to make sure that there wasn't a crack in the slide. When completing the background check, I offered to type the information for my husband as he did not have his reading glasses. From the on, this sales person was completely rude and hovering over both of us. His demeanor was so strange and awkward. Because of this, my husband then refused to purchase the gun and we left. We will gladly take our business elsewhere. Because of this salesman, we will NEVER purchase or do business with Cabela's ever again. read more

They are also not following state laws that if they have a back ground search come back with no delays in 3 days they are supposed to release it to the customer. Never EVER get your rifle bore sighted at Cabela's! I took my rifle and optic to Cabela's since I bought the optic there. I took the rifle to the optic counter and encountered what appeared to be a confused sales clerk. I try to not judge someone by how they look/act so I foolishly gave him the benefit of doubt. I should of known when he picked up the rifle by the barrel pointing at him, who does that???? The clerk said it would take about an hour to bore sight the gun. I get it, they're busy. Fast forward a week.... I go to the range for the final sight in. Attempt to sight in and shots are all over the place (right, left, up down). What was the issue? The now confirmed idiot that bore sighted the rifle never tightened down the cantilever. Not even "finger tight", no clue how the entire optic did not fall off. To confirm this idiots lack of skills, not only was the cantilever not tightened down but absolutely ZERO loc-tite was used on the bolts. I get having to hire incompetent idiots like this guy, but putting him in the firearms department??? Pretty sure there is help needed on the loading dock. Just don't let this rocket scientist near any heavy equipment, moving parts..... maybe just have him sweep the parking lot. Based on this guys cranium capacity, I am assuming natural selection will quickly take care of the less than brilliant employee. read more

I would not recommend this location to anyone, they have very incompetent staff. Especially in their used gun department. I was denied even having a background check because i was informed my driver license wasn't valid. The only thing wrong with it, is i moved and put my new address on the back as, Colorado has said is a valid thing to do. I bought a gun from this very store a month ago with the exact same license. I would not be upset had they denied me originally, but ive bought all my guns from them this way from different gun attendees. Heck, even the manager of the gun area had poor customer service and said nope im wrong and get something else. Until, they get better trained people and someone under the age 60 who actually knows what their doing, best stay away. read more

After this location opened a few years ago, we've come here a handful of times for various reasons - most recently for a fishing license! C = caring and friendly staff, who are insanely knowledgeable about the great outdoors! We had a few questions about some of the camping equipment, fishing gear and the wide variety of guns, to which all of our questions were answered! A = awesome selection of outdoor gear! Literally everything and anything you can think of, is here...including live bait! B = best fudge ever. ha! as crazy as that sounds, they do offer a small selection of in house food that is actually pretty tasty! E = excellent camping gear! we have purchased a few items here over the years, and not only are they durable, but last long! L = Little overpriced - but what can you expect from an outdoor gear brand? spend wisely, and your money will go further. A = amazingly huge store/location! Like a lot of reviews I'm unimpressed. When Bass Pro bought Cabela's I was worried it would go downhill and sure enough it did. Long lines, less employees.... most employees seem proficient. Yes a few are bored and few and awesome but less of them it seems. Also ALWAYS out of my ammo. On the plus side more holster selections. We ordered two firearms online, and had them shipped to the store. First of all, their website never sent us a confirmation that the order was received, or that the order was shipped. Luckily, we at least got an automated call when the firearms were in the store and ready for pick up. We went to the firearms sales-counter first, and after waiting in line for 15 minutes, we were told to go to the online sales pick up desk at the back of the store. There, our order could not be found by our name or the order number, the person behind the desk was covering for the normal person that was at lunch, so were told to go to the customer service desk. After waiting in line at customer service for 15-20 minutes (line never even moved in that time) some employee walked by and asked us what we were waiting in line for, we explained, and she told us we had to go back to the firearms check out line, waited in line again, finally found our order, the computers were down, so we could not complete the back ground check. Many customers were irritated, and we overheard and angry customer saying the computers were down the day before as well. All employees seemed lackadaisical and customer service was mediocre at best. The entire process was very frustrating, and if hadn't gotten the firearms on sale, and already pre-paid, we would have taken our business elsewhere. read more

Honestly just kinda frustrated. Maybe I'm overreacting but my husband and I went to get hunting licenses for water fowl. We have fishing licenses for CO from March and got the residential rate bc we're stationed here. When we went to get our hunting license they gave us non residential bc we didn't have our orders on us. It wouldn't be a big deal but it's a 50 dollar difference. That's not pocket change. We were told if we brought back our orders they would change it and give us the difference for the rate back. I probably shouldn't have taken anything the lady said as truth bc she already had an attitude. We went back with our orders not even an hour later we were told they couldn't change anything. Poor customer service business case. I have three gift cards received over a span of about four years. One of the cards for $50 doesn't work so they call and determine that it has never been used, but it shows no value. I am buying a full priced yeti cooler which probably has about $150 in markup for Cabela's in the price and I know that about 5% of gift cards are never used creating cash flow for literally no service. However, the idea of doing what is right by the customer is not an option. I bought the product just to get rid of the other cards and to say goodbye forever. A simple opportunity missed for easy money. The interest they have made over the four years of me sitting on the gift cards would have covered doing what is right as well. They don't care or are not service oriented, not sure which. read more

This review is for their archery department employees. I just came in to look at different sights for my compound and really didn't want to talk to any associates. Immediately after finding the sights, a young man approached me asking to help and I promptly sent him away. After looking for a while, I did have one question and received excellent help from a man who ended up being very helpful. In the process of answering my questions, it became apparent that the young man ,Nolan, literally eats sleeps breathes all things archery hunting related. I know it's a big box store but if you need just to get some advice, stop by and give these guys a chance. read more

I was a Cabelas card holder for 7 years, and I am very disappointed in their customer service. I lived in Colorado for 23 years, and this was my home store that I shopped. Two months ago, Capital One canceled my Cabelas MasterCard. My card was never late, it was being used and was always in good standing. I spent weeks on the phone with customer service for Cabelas because I wanted to be able to keep my $407 In points that I had accumulated while shopping there. Capital One closed the account so a representative from Cabelas assured me that my points would be sent to me in a gift card. I came to found out that this was a lie, and no one on either end offered a specific explanation as to why my account was closed, nor did I get to keep my points. Cabelas STOLE them from me and NO ONE in their customer service cared enough to do anything. I am telling you all this because if you have points use them!!! Cabelas will not have your back!
