Spent over an hour ordering 4 items , using their 800 number. I'm certain they offshore their customer service, as it was somewhat difficult to understand the order taker. I received the products, one of which was light weight wool blend socks. I ordered the heavy weight and when I called to correct the order, I was told that the ad was a misprint and the socks came in medium or light weight and I should have received the medium weight. It took over an hour on the phone to correct the issue, again having difficulty understanding the nice woman's accent. That's over 2 hours of my life I will never get back for 4 pairs of socks. very disappointed in the ship to store online procedure. After ordering an item it took over 2 weeks to come in, i could of ordered it off the manufacture and had it in 3 days. Then when i get to Cabelas customer service to pick it up i needed to wait another 25 minutes in line as they only had 3 people working behind the counter. The line wrapped back pass the front doors. There were plenty of other Cabelas reps just standing around. Maybe management needs to do there job and allocate their associates where there needed most. Cabels's is for the outdoors enthusiasts. It has all you could want in one huge place. The reason I go to Cabela's is to accompany my husband on some of his many trips to the store. We live close, so we tend to go on a weeknight when the store is not so packed. I like the shoe department. They usually have some kind of clearance deals, I have purchased Dansko sandals and clogs at a very reasonable price. The fish aquarium is a must see! Kudos to Cabela's. Even though their establishment is top-of-the-line I must say that their compassion is also top-notch. I am an essential worker and a catastrophe adjuster. There was a recent windstorm in Pennsylvania I am because of the Covid 19 all RV places were closed. Even though there is a time limit on how long you can stay in the RV parking because of the circumstances I was able to speak with the assistant general manager Stephanie and because of her compassion and understanding she allowed me to stay a little longer so that I can help the good people in the surrounding areas with damage to their home. read more

This place was amazing. Not jus a store, it's like an adventure visiting this place. As you drive up, you are greeted by a humongous wood lodge cabin like store set on top of a hill. You wonder how much stuff can they sell to fill a store this big? Well, you'll understand when you walk though those doors. As I mentioned before, this isn't a ordinary outdoors store, you can bring your whole family here and have a great time. From the aquarium, to the taxidermy, you can even feed some fishes if you want. With that said, you can also find any and all outdoors need you can think of is this store. Gun library: Unsatisfactory customer situation. I have a federal gun collectors license, a MASS LTC and am an NRA firearms instructor. I wanted to see an M1 Garand in the gun library as a potential purchase. I asked to see the trigger group of an M1 to assess its correctness. NOT POSSIBLE. I asked to remove the M1 stock to confirm the barrel date. NOT POSSIBLE. I asked to measure the muzzle and throat erosion to assess the wear. NOT POSSIBLE. I asked if the gun was in working order. "DON'T KNOW, IT'S SOLD AS IS". Appears they are targeting inexperienced potential buyers with over priced guns and not allowing knowledgeable potential buyers to accurately assess such guns' realistic value. Okay I like Cabela's like most people. I typically shop the gun section, but have been throughout the entire store, two times, one about 4 months ago. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I had my dog with me this time and we called ahead and they said YES you can bring in the dog. At entry into the store I was greeted and handed a dog biscuit and poop bag (just incase he said). The one thing I don't care for in the store is all the store associates trying to get you to sign up for their credit card. While in the gun section I could not find the ammo I was looking for and the head store person for the gun section went to the back of the store to personally confirm they didn't have any. I went in for some archery supplies and Justin was extremely helping me find a proper tab and even let me try it out with a few arrows downrange. He also gave me some useful shooting tips. Drove about an hour for a sale on a firearm that I wanted to pick up. Walked in, store is MASSIVE. Very impressed with the layout and the selection. Aside from the firearm that was being purchased, the prices are fairly equal to other competitors. With that said, my only complaint is the fact I arrived at 730, immediately made my selection and as I write this at 9:50 pm, still online waiting to check out my firearm. Background check was completed a while ago, and they only have 3 cashiers for a line of about 30 customers. I understand the wait and process to purchase a firearm, but I would have expected them to be more prepared, considering they saw the line get out of control, and it is indeed hunting season. Any other store I would have been out within a half hour of the background check. Finally swiping my card to pay at 10:25 pm, and am the last one out the door. read more

I am not a fan of this store. It gives me the creeps to have all of those dead animals looking at me. I think that the clothes are cheaply made and over-priced. Also, the bus loads of over weight middle Americans pouring into the store was visually arresting. Seriously, I didn't know that America was that overweight. IMHO this store has only one redeeming merit, and no other reviewers have mentioned it: the Bargain Cave. If you don't mind picking through things, you can find some GREAT bargains here. I bought a down vest for $5. I bought some other things I didn't know I needed until I saw them, too (like down-filled long underwear that were designed for hunters but came in handy waiting outside for the Obama inauguration). I bought a refurbished meat grinder from their bargain cave on Sunday. When I got home and opened the box, I found I was missing eight different parts for the meat grinder. I called customer service who said bargain cave items aren't returnable. After I let her know the issue I found she then connected me to the store. Chris at the Hamburg store helped find a different boxed up meat grinder. I searched through the new/refurbished box that Chris found while at the store and it did have more parts than the other one. Cabela's also gave me an additional % off the grinder since I had to run all the way back to the store. They will continue to get my business! read more

I have a lot of family in Pennsylvania, so when my family and I travel thataway, we always stop at Cabela's to use their bathrooms and stretch our legs. My father told me about Cabela's long before I went there to see it for myself. He always raved about how huge it was, the awesomeness of the aquarium section, and the grandioseness of the taxidermied animal display. I was in awe when I walked inside Cabela's for the first time. To put the size of the store in one word: vast. I'm not a hunter or camper or anything of the sort (I prefer the commodities of living indoors like central AC and heat, a soft bed, walls), so at first I thought there wouldn't be any merchandise that would interest me. I was wrong. My spidey senses kicked in and I found the North Face and UnderArmour section of the store - hallelujah to being high maintenance! If you're into camping or hunting, this place is a GOLDMINE. If you can't find what you need here, you can't find it anywhere. There is also a huge selection of beef jerky, so if you have a brother like mine who loves jerky and you don't know what to get him for his birthday, Christmas, et al, just start a stockpile of the Cabela's jerky (he swears its among the best he's had). The aquarium tunnel, as I like to call it, is so cool. I felt like my six year old self when I first walked through the aquarium - I almost had my nose pressed against the glass as I shouted to my mom, "Look at that one! Oooooh look at THAT one!" Taxidermy freaks me out but at the same time, I find it humorous now that I've seen that absolutely hilarious Chuck Testa video (google it). Smack-dab in the middle of Cabela's is a mountain of taxidermied animals. So many taxidermied animals, more than I'll ever see at once in my life and that's a fact. I'm a real stickler for the cleanliness and overall appearance of a bathroom. Cabela's has it DOWN. Their bathrooms are as vast as the store and are very clean, well decorated, and have those trough sinks that I so "deerly" love. If you're ever driving out west to PA and you pass Cabela's (don't worry, you can't miss it), you should absolutely stop and check it out. I visited Cabelas the other day while in the area. it is HUGE! I mean, I'd stop by just to see it, but I wouldnt go shopping there, I did look at their selection of tents, most were in the kind-of-expensive to expensive range. But the cool thing is that they have this huge diorama around the store and also a very large aquarium. Theres a big statue of a canoe outside too. So much growth has sprung up around there it's amazing. The lines were long, and the store was packed, it took about 5 minutes to find a decent parking spot. They did give me an application for a credit card. (apply & you'll get a 10% off coupon & a free hat.) This was neat, but dont go out of your way to see it. Let me start out by saying, when it was only Cabela's, this place was a day trip I looked forward to taking! Everything was such good quality and held up for years. You knew the brand was trusted and wouldn't break. They deserve a 5/5. This is a store to be experienced. It's almost an attraction, rather than a place to shop.First off, the place can be seen from the highway. You don''t realized how large it is until you start up their driveway. At the top of the hill is an enormous parking lot, and, as the 1st reviewer mentioned, it gets crowded in the store, so the lot can be full. You know what you've got yourself into when you realize they have places marked off for bus parking. Before you get into the store, there is a sculpture, about 3x normal size of hunters in a canoe. It's detail is compelling. I'm not a big fan of sculptures, but I had to spend about 10 minutes walking around it just to take the whole thing in. Cabelas, itself is a huge store. It looks like a lodge made of logs, and the inside is quite spectacular. The ceiling in the center of the store must be 25-30ft high, with a mountain in the rear of the store (more later). The ceiling is lower on the right and left and has numerous big game head mounts on either side. The store is broken up by departments. Clothes in the center, fishing on the right, firearms on the left, boots/archery in the back with the hunting supplies. The fishing department has a pretty good size walk through aquarium with a lot of species of game fish from the north east. The tanks must be 8ft tall, and the fish are all of the large variety. Pictures with descriptions are located at the base of the tanks. The very back of the store has an out-cove with mounts from Africa, including an elephant and lions. They're displayed in a kind of natural type setting. The mountain, next to it, contains a lot of mounts from the big game found in North America and each side of the mountain depicts a different region in the US (mountain, forest, desert, etc). There's even a pond with live fish swimming around a one of the largest moose mounts I've ever seen. Somewhere off to the left is a room full of deer trophies, also impressive. Upstairs in the store is a restaurant, which serves a selection of typical grilled/deli foods, along with some of the more exotic stuff, like bison or emu. Unfortunately, from what I've tired, the food isn't that good, but that doesn't really detract from the store. The upstairs also houses the housewares/furniture department along with some hunting style art and gifts. The entire left wall downstairs is devoted to firearms. If you like guns, this is the place. At least, to look. I found prices to be pretty much MSRP. I don't know how they are for bargaining but they have a pretty large selection of used rifles. If you're interested in that type of stuff, make sure you visit the firearms specialty room. It's near the front of the store on the left, flanked by the elephant tusks. The showcases house some of the more expensive/antique guns for sale, and you might see some truly rare pieces. On the way out of the store, make sure you stop in the cabins set up outside the store. They're interesting to look around. If you're in the Allentown area, make sure you stop in, even if you don't buy anything, the store is worth a visit. read more

This place is awesome. Where else can you get Ostrich cold cuts and a .50 caliber sniper rifle in the same place? Or a Dora the Explorer blowgun? They also have a special room full of antique/specialty guns. I believe you can buy the rifle that Buffalo Bill killed the last Buffalo in the face with. Or a hand-held cannon with a trumpet on the end that they used to shoot Elephants with in the 1800s. Stuff like that. They also have a mountain. And a stream. Inside. The mountain is covered with the following taxidermied animals: Black bears, grizzly bears, Polar bears, goats, beavers, lions, antelopes, lions eating antelopes, elephants, and others, all of which you can order in the restaurant. Not really, of course. That would be silly. But you can have some of them. Besides Ostrich they have Bison and some others I can't recall at the moment (Kangaroo maybe?) If that doesn't sound good to you, then tough shit, because that's all they have, and if you're not the kind of person that would order the Ostrich sandwich because it sounds kind of cool, even though it doesn't taste particularly good (it doesn't) then Cabela's isn't your kind of place. read more

Don't effect staff that are willing to go out of there way for you. I ask three gents around the ammo section some basic questions and they weren't thrilled to help and this was on a Tuesday afternoon with no one around. I asked an employee folding sweaters where I could find hats with a wide brim ( I usually try to find things myself and she rolled her eyes when I said excuse can I ask you a question. Really great store but nobody is enforcing the mask rules. Some customers had them around their necks and the majority had their noses hanging out. An announcement was made to wear masks but nobody seemed to care and nobody that ignored the rule was approached. Anyone not following the rule should be asked to wear their masks or leave. We drove over an hour to get some much needed camping essentials and after much frustration made the decision to leave and find our gear elsewhere. read more

Its easy to take this place for granted if you're a local, but there is plenty of merchandise to look at, plus the live fish and stuffed animals are cool to look at too. I made the drive out to Cabela's a week or so ago to pick up a pair of waders for work. I'm no hunter/fisherman so I felt a little weird and out of place. This place was pretty neat though. They have a huge "mountain" set up in the middle with a display of all sorts of animals. The amount of items Cabela's has is pretty nuts too. I also asked for help from one of the employees and he was extremely helpful and friendly. Employees were friendly throughout the store, from the moment I came in, to the moment I left. On the way out, I couldn't help it and got one of those packs of roasted almonds/cashews. They were delicious. I probably won't be returning here unless I need a new pair of waders, but I'm giving it a 4 cause it was a pretty cool experience and there are helpful, friendly employees here. read more

However, I could spend hours wandering around looking at all the stuff they have. It's also great for people-watching. Where else can you see a family of 5 wearing matching camouflage and blaze orange outfits? There really should be a website called www.peopleofcabelas.com or something. It would rock. I bought my first gun the other day, we ended up getting a Ruger 10/22. Excited to go to the range and use it. NO, I didn't get a pink one. They were too small, otherwise I totally would have got a pink one. With matching pink earmuffs. Except the pink earmuffs were $70 and the regular ones were $20. Jerks. Not Cabelas, the company that makes the pink earmuffs and thinks I'm a big enough idiot to pay an additional $50 because the earmuffs are pink. Anyhow, Cabela's is a great way to waste a Sunday morning. You can even eat lunch in there and order some exotic food off the menu.
