Customer service is horrible. I was returning a shirt to exchange it for a different size. There charged me 3 dollars because there was a price different on the receipt from there sale. It's the same shirt same price you do a normal exchange. It's not my fault it had a sale price you just do an exchange and don't argue the point. I'm literally showing you It's the same price. A cross between Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and Sportsman's Warehouse. A huge selection of merchandise at high retail prices. They do have a large selection of merchandise, but their pricing is not competitive at all. One would think, that in this day and age of online shopping, Cabela's would at least discount their products somewhat. Nope. Expect to pay FULL MSRP, short of on-sale items. read more

I would have loved to have written this review directly to the General Manager but can't find any contact information for him/her. Short background: Cabela's carried my line of women's hunting clothing "Suzy Smith Outdoor Sportwear" 20 years ago, when I was also pro-staffing for Browning Archery, Realtree, Hoyt Archery, Becoming an Outdoors Woman, Carlton Calls, Wellington Outdoors. On 2-24-19 a girlfriend and I went into the Grand Junction store as I was hoping to show her the new Accu Bow (I ordered one online so knew Cabela's carried them) because she wanted to buy one for her husband. We walked back to the archery section (right next to the gun counters), where four salesmen were standing around a computer register, one leaning on the glass counter. They looked up, saw us walk by, never acknowledged us, and a guy was behind us about ten paces walking the same path. Immediately one of the salespeople looked up and said "Hi there, is there something we can help you find?" to him. I was embarrassed, mortified, pissed. I finally interrupted whatever they were so engrossed with, and asked if they carried Accu Bows. One of them said "no, we don't carry those". I said "well, I KNOW that Cabela's carries them, are you saying you just don't have it in this store?" He rolled his eyes and reluctantly looked it up on the computer screen and said "oh yeah, looks like they have them online but not here" This scenario used to play out 20 years ago when women were JUST trying to break into the hunting industry and sport. I was even ignored when my clothing line was hanging in the store and I was there for a promotional event and the sales people didn't realize... trying to find goose loads so I could go hunt in the Cabela's pits with the managers in Nebraska... I expected it THEN! It's twenty years later! Women make up close to 20% of the hunting population in Colorado and it's the FASTEST growing segment! Please Mr. or Ms. Manager, stop ignoring women when they are in your store to spend money. They might JUST know more than you about some of the products but you should certainly help the ones who don't. I'm NOT a women's rights advocate but it's so tiring to be completely ignored when I'm trying to spend money in a sporting goods store. On the other hand, when we walked to the sunglass section, browsing, a saleswoman named "Sarah" was FABULOUS! She was very pleasant, acknowledged us, asked if she could help, but wasn't pushy. Keep her... in fact, train her and put her in the hunting section! She could be a HUGE asset! read more

Although this is a small Cabela's you won't really notice once you walk through the door. - Great staff at the door, helpful and friendly. - A great selection of long guns and hand guns. - A decent selection of ammunition at fair prices. - A ton of hunting gear. And last but not least. Extremely clean bathrooms. It's a small thing, but when you're on a road trip you appreciate a clean bathroom. read more

This is the only large sporting goods on the Western Slope of Colorado, so I guess they don't have to try too hard. They have the laziest and most disinterested sales people I have ever encountered, especially at the firearms counter. I have literally stood at that counter for 15 minutes watching sales guys looking at their phones and ignoring me. There are always more sales guys than customers and it's still a long wait. My recommendation is don't go there unless you absolutely have to, or if you can find what you need on a shelf with no assistance required. read more

Great selection of outdoor equipment. If you need stuff for hunting or camping in a hurry this is your place in town. I feel like their prices can often be beat on line if you can afford to wait or at other outdoor retailers if you are a shrewd shopper. read more

Okay, so there was a time when I would flip through a Cabela's catalog like a 13 year old fingering a playboy magazine.... ooooh, niiiiiice, cooooool and yearn for the day I would make the pilgrimage out to Nebraska to the holy land that was Cabela's bargain basement. I'm so glad I outgrew that phase. They got a whole lot of sh---tuff here that's for sure but the prices? Nothing to drool over. You might still find that one little item that you can't live without here but for the most part. Dreaming is better than the doing. The internet is the great equalizer. Be forewarned, this is a small Cabelas... single-story, no cafe, no fish tank, and no animal mountain. The gun selection is great, but the service was lackluster. The man behind the counter acted like he had somewhere else to be... maybe the Sportman's Warehouse down the road? I wouldn't recommend going to this location. I needed a couple of jackets put aside and the customer service is dreadful. Very rude, disrespectful, stuck up girl at the customer service counter. Too many sales people that are either surly or have an attitude of not giving a rat's. The aisles are too narrow and packed with too much crap. The used firearms are overpriced. The new firearms are on average more costly than Sportsmans. I'll go to Sportsman's Warehouse. read more
