This was my second experience with this gun store. The first experience was several years ago and it was a good experience. There was a different salesman or possibly owner then and he was very professional and courteous. I recently tried to get Top Shot to ship a handgun to Alaska for me. FFL to FFL. Nice and easy. Seemed like it was going to be no problem, they charged me $72.98, which was a $35 transfer and a $35 shipping fee, plus 2.98 tax. The clerk listed on the receipt was Dwight C. and he was professional enough to make a few snide comments about the gun I was trying to send. Reminder, as an FFL, it's not his place to say anything of the sort. He was basically insinuating that the gun was worth less than the cost of shipping, which is bull, even for the lamest handgun in existence. A couple of days go by and I get a phone call. It was Top Shot, but someone different. They are telling me that the shipping price is way off and I would need to come in and shell out about another $95. So I came in the next week and saw the same clerk, who I assume is Dwight C. He informs me that his coworker was trying to ship it Fedex instead of USPS. Fine. He tells me that everything should be fine and that he will text me a tracking number. Great. So a week goes by and finally I'm thinking they have never sent the gun because I've never heard anything from them. I went in there and saw Dwight C. once again. And this time, when I get in there, he's telling me, matter-of-factly, that the gun is still sitting on the shelf, over there. I looked at him like there's no way they could be that incompetent, then he changes his tune and he's like, "It is supposed to be there today, but I threw the receipt out yesterday..." For one it didn't even make sense that he would toss the only thing that had a tracking number before he knew it arrived. Very unprofessional. So I'm still standing there because he hasn't resolved anything at all and he realizes that all I care about right that minute is a tracking number. So he fished it out of the garbage. I watched him. He acted like it was such an inconvenience and that's ok because that's why he's getting a two-star review. Lack of professionalism, lack of common courtesy. He shipped it flat-rate, just like I knew he would. It costed $16.10 before tax, just like I knew it would. The only difference between what he ships and what I ship is that his box gets flagged for signature by an FFL at the end. He was acting like I was trying to ship an engine block to China or somewhere logistically challenging. It's Alaska. One of our own states. I made 3 trips to a part of town I rarely ever go to. Trips out of my way. Just to resolve what should have been a really simple transfer. This store has gone downhill significantly in the past few years and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone at all for any sort of gun transfer or purchase. Better deals can be had elsewhere. read more

I first stopped there over 3 weeks ago. I was pretty much engorged for minutes. I asked if he had Glock 17, 15 round magazines. He said no but would order some and they would be in next week. I went in the following week as he said and was ignored again. After waiting patiently he told me they didn't come in. He said he'll order Glock OEM and they would be in , in a week. I went back the following week like he said. I was ignored again until I sat at a coffee table that had food on it. I was told they didn't come it. I walked out a 3rd time, he didn't bother to ask my name or number. I'm a veteran, NRA Champion, US Army National Champion and a previous small business owner. Skip this place and go to some better local gun store, there are many.. I've visited the shop a few times. I got my CCW from one of the instructors teaching there a few years ago. I visit from time to time hoping that the shop has grown in inventory (maybe over 2 dozen guns now) and seeing if there may be any deals. I asked about transferring a firearm and they charge a $35 or $45 convenience fee or something, on top of what the state charges. Other spots will do it for absolutely free! Just the state charge. By charging more and more for transfers it seems they want less people to be able to afford guns. On top of this every time all I find are very overpriced firearms. They will tell you they have the best deals, when I look at a competitors (LOCAL STORES AND ONLINE) pricing I see exact firearms are $500 online instead of $650 they are asking. read more

Ok, I had a great experience w/ Top Shot, but 1st the funnies. The website, it needs a little help guys! I've no idea who the webmaster is for them, but they need a new one. Strange punctuation throughout the site, mostly ???'s everywhere, and the when I used the in-site MapQuest for directions, it told me they were in Kansas, then in Seattle. Using Google maps took me to their old location downtown. A call to the shop got me to their new place out by the Mesa Mall, no problem. I took the $70 Concealed Carry course, offered on Sundays when the shop is normally closed. Now, CC 'class' in CO is kind of a joke, you sit there, the instructor reads some basic safety info & the CO statutes out loud, asks a few scenario questions, asks if you have any questions and boom, pending a CBI background check, you can carry the hand-cannon of your choice around in public. I'm a 2nd Amendment guy, but that just seems too easy. I believe you should have at least the fundamental knowledge to use the deadly weapon you've decided to tote around with at least some degree of competency, but maybe that's a political discussion for elsewhere. Anywho..... Top Shot Gun Shop also offers a practical pistol course with their CC course! Now, I've been shooting for years, but never as an armed citizen in public, and I felt it might behoove me to see if there was something to be learned. There is! My instructor, Mark (Law Enforcement shooting trainer, 15 year SWAT team member) took me out to a BLM shooting area in Top Shot Gun Shops fine air-conditioned company vehicle, and while I have many years shooting experience, I also had Bad Habits from never learning the proper Hows & Whys of Defensive Handgun Shooting. Mark, with patience and humor, corrected my most glaring grip, presentation & reloading faults, taught me some easy at-home drills, and had me placing double-taps in a 2" circle @ 7yrds in 2hrs. IMHO, this should be required for all CC holders. It's not, but you can make the choice to educate/train yourself to higher standard, and the Basic Pistol training offered by Top Shot is an excellent opportunity to do so. Daniel is one of those people who is great in front of you or selling you something. His follow up is non existent. Called, text and email him and even left several messages with his helper, who promised he would have Daniel call me. When I got back to Grand Junction I went to his store asking him why he did not return any of my messages. He blamed his helper for not returning any of my messages, that his helper told him he took care of everything. I was dumf founded that he would think I would believe it. I simple said to him I was very disappointed in him. He simply said "have a nice day!" and walked away. Not very customer focus! His statement that buying a gun from Top Shot will cost you $50.00 or more less than the big stores is absolutely inaccurate. After having brought several guns from him I found them for less at several locations in Grand Junction. My mistake for believing him and not verifying. read more

I have to be careful about going in there too often because I feel so comfortable and I love the inventory so much that I spend money I shouldn't but then again what else is more important than buying guns? read more

I have had a few dealings with Danial at Top Shot. I felt that he was more than fair with me. I had been o the largest gun store in Grand Junction & felt that they were trying to screw me out of several dollars. Dan was up front & told me how much he would allow me on the firearm that I was wanting to upgrade from. Simple, no low ball getcha crap. Just an honest trade. Deal done!! That was real simple & I left feeling being treated very fair! Due to that experience, I have been a return customer n many occasions. Dan is no longer there, but the owner is a very knowledgeable person. She simply explained to me that a weapon that I had purchased from their store, had increased in value quite considerably. I'd give 0 stars if possible. My boyfriend bought a gun here and as soon as he got a receipt is where the customer service went horrible. The gun only fires one bullet at a time even though the magazine loads 10. Dwight said this is perfectly normal for a high caliber rifle to not feed all 10 rounds. He supposedly sent the gun back to the manufacturer and it was returned with exactly the same problem. Went to the range with Dwight and he again tried to convince us there was nothing wrong with the gun. We tried 3 magazines and 3 types of ammunition and still the same problem. Dwight blamed it on the magazine and supposedly ordered us new magazines. We have not heard back from him so we bought another new magazine from another dealer and different ammunition.....same problem. I highly encourage anyone looking to buy a firearm to go elsewhere. We now how a very expensive paperweight. read more

Local shop, local owner who actually helps you get what you really want. I have referred tons of friends to the shop and all have had great experiences. They even offer classes for beginners and concealed and carry class as well. Lots of options, and will special order anything. They even do custom paint, engraving and make holsters. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life and I am 63. As long as you are buying then the service is good. If you expect service after the fact, forget aboiut it... non-existent and aggresively poor. You may get thrown out of the store!! They refused to send my package to North Carolina and told me to come pick up the gun. They charged me $7.00 for a background check to pick up the gun that was registered and purchased from a different company 2 years prior. It wasn't my fault that they wouldn't send the package but charged me anyway. Very bad business methods... I wouldn't do business with these people even in the next life if such a thing exists.
