As of June they have reopened their doors. Note they have changed phone numbers too! The one on Yelp is correct, google is still being updated. (951) 654-4470 is the number you want to call. Being new in town, I went in looking for books for toddlers and a summer program and just like any library they had both. The girls at the desk were friendly and helpful. If you're applying for a new library card, bring ID and proof of address if you haven't updated address on ID. They will take an utility bill. Simple. Check done The selection of books here is fair, dvds not so much. Books vary on subjects and some in Spanish too. You do have to consider is fairly small library. Don't expect to find every single book in mind. But nonetheless don't feel limited to only space and books found here. Being a county library, you can order books from any library to be brought here and simply pick up once items arrive. If you're looking for a room full of computers, that's not the case here. They have about 4-5 computers with access to the internet. Printing black and white is .15 cents and color is .65 cents a page. They have space designated for kids which is nice and clean but in my humble opinion should be stocked a bit more. Overall this library is small and would love for the city to consider expanding it in a near future as the size of the library compared to all the households in San Jacinto is not proportional.

I can't speak to any of the other resources as I haven't used them. However, the way the staff treat the people in the library leaves a lot to be desired, hence my 2-star review. Although the publicly posted hours state they close at 6 pm, beginning at 5:30 pm, there is an aggressive push to get everyone out of the library, with constant announcements over the loudspeaker, security guard patrolling the study areas, and the librarians also coming around and reminding everyone to leave by 5:45 pm. At 5:35 pm, I was told that if I didn't leave by 5:45 pm I would be locked in the library with my child overnight. I stated the library closes at 6 pm, and we will be gone well before that time. At 5:55 pm, as we were leaving, the security guard and the librarian came over to tell us we were there past closing. They definitely scared my child into thinking that would happen. Woof. The overbearing staff is a bit much. But if anyone is down for a sleepover in the library, it's me!!

*No Ordinary Library*…read more We live in Rancho Mirage and experienced a major power outage that disrupted our service for multiple days. In the morning, prior to knowing the official extent and estimated length of the outage, wifey & I came here to charge devices, do some work via WiFi, and stay cool on a 100+ degrees day. Everyone here made us feel welcome and were very understanding of our situation. It's a beautiful and spacious library -- inside & out. There's a bunch of different sections to sit depending on your mood. There's also an outdoor patio that came in handy to warm up every now & then because the AC inside is extremely frosty. Instead of venturing out for lunch in the afternoon, we decided to stay here and share a sandwich at the Aspen Mills Cafe. We went with the Aspen: Tender oven-roasted turkey breast, cucumber, red onion, lettuce, avocado, horseradish, and light mayonnaise on cranberry spice bread. Side of potato salad and pickle. $13.95 If that sounds good to you? It tasted even better. All natural, fresh and filling. Marcela was manning the cafe. She's friendly and makes a mean tasty sandwich. Afterwards we both signed up for Rancho Mirage Library Cards. It's free for residents and doesn't expire for 2 years. Tho the power outage brought us here this time, we'll be back one day to enjoy the library even more.
